Chapter 11: Naming him 'Jayden'
The day Rick and Tia had a flight for Ofger, Abha tried her best to act happy with a smile. Rick had noticed her unusual expression but he thought everything would be fine with time.
She was sad but tried to ignore her feelings. At least when Rick was in Micaidia** and she was in Pliuca, he would have visited her on holiday but now Abha wasn't sure when they will meet the next time. She couldn't help but tears start to welling in her eyes as once again she was feeling lonely.
After both of them left, Abha took a break from her classes and work and remained in the ward of the hospital for a few days.
Sitting on the sofa made her irritated so to distract her thoughts she walked toward the patient's bed. She dragged a chair and sat on his side.
The scratches and injuries were healed on his face, and only some scars remained on his body. For the first time, she looked at him carefully with details.
He had luscious black hair and beautiful eyebrows with thick eyelashes. His cheekbones were well defined with concrete jaws. The lips were pink and thin.
He had fair skin but still had signs of sunburns. Maybe he used to mostly stay in the sun a few years ago.
He should have maintained his body well because of the broad shoulders and a toned body which could be even seen with the hospital gown on. The fingers were long and slender but had some calluses. Maybe he was used to practicing with a gun or something similar weapon.
But now his hair and beard grew a bit long.
Overall, one careful glance at him could mesmerize all human beings. He was the perfect example of a living Adonis. It was like God had carved him with a lot of concentration and effort. There weren't any flaws in his appearance.
Abha couldn't put her eye off him due to his attractiveness. He was a feast to the eyes. She regretted why she hadn't noticed him carefully before and why always treated him like a stranger and patient.
Abha only looked at him but didn't touch him. She didn't want to take advantage when he was comatose. The man seems to be in his middle twenties. Even though he was laying on the bed he had a sharp and cold aura around him.
People say the eyes are the door to knowing about the heart. But the patient had his eyes closed so Abha wanted to see his eyes the most.
'Does he have a girlfriend or a female partner? What has he gone through? Who and why does anyone want to kill such a flawless human being? Is he a criminal or who is he?' was on Abha's mind.
He gave a mature feeling as if he had experienced a lot of pain and gone through hard times. By observing him she forgot her unhappiness. She got lost in his handsomeness that she didn't even notice it had already been night.
The knock on the door made her realize her blankness. She hurriedly acted normal and calm, diverted her focus, and asked the person to enter.
Those people at the door were on a daily check-up routine. Finding everything normal and under control after the checkup, they ask a female nurse to wipe the patient body and change the nutritional drips.
Abha hurriedly requested to change the nurse to a male one until the patient was in the hospital. No one denied her request.
She didn't want any female to touch his body. If it was possible she wouldn't even let men see his body. But she herself didn't want to take advantage when the patient was in a coma, so she didn't have a choice but to let men do it.
From that day she started to stay more and more on the ward because the loneliness outside was giving her nightmares and making her emotional. So she used the patient as her distraction.
Sometimes someone's presence could react as a drug. She would know in the future that she had started to take that slow drug.
Abha sometimes on her weekends and holidays went to Rick's apartment. Actually, that apartment was transferred to her before Rick left for Ofger. She appointed some helpers to clean the rooms but she didn't stay there.
Mostly every day she stayed in the hospital ward at night but was busy for the whole day out. Abha didn't know the patient's name so she gave him a new name: Jayden.
Jayden became her unresponsive companion, listener, and an important part of her life. Every day when the day ended she was excited to share her day with Jayden. Her tiredness will wear out just by seeing Jayden.
Abha didn't even hold his hands but looked closely at him and talked for hours and hours about her thoughts and day experience. If Jayden was awake maybe he will be irritated by listening to her bantering. Besides talking to him she had lessened her interaction and talk with other people.
Rick called her at least two times in a week after his arrival in Ofger but slowly decreased the call. It had been more than three months since he had left Micaidia. He used to say he was busy with hospital work. She thought he was changing but didn't complain about it.
Abha had heard gossip about Jayden when she was walking in the hospital corridor; as his handsomeness and comment about his body. So, she kept the females and unnecessary people far from the ward. Abha herself didn't know she was starting to act possessive.
One day when she went to the office of the hospital director to know details about Jayden she heard something she never expected from the director's office. Without knocking on the door she went inside, the people present inside were surprised by the sudden intrusion. She began her interrogation,
"Mr. Director, what I heard now...is that true?"
"Yeah...Rick had asked us to not disclose it with you because you would be worried if you knew. He told me it was for your good." the director diverted his eyesight from Abha and spoke.
"Tell me the reason for Rick's transfer to Ofger."Abha insisted.
"Rick exactly wasn't transferred but Rick himself asked for it. The exact reason isn't known by me too. He said that being there will help him to do some undercover work and his presence was needed there. That's all I know."
"Anything you know and hiding from me?"
"No-No"
"Okay, then that's Rick's choice. Tell me when will Jayden wake up.."
After half an hour Abha reached Jayden ward. Her thought was again in mess. 'What was Rick hiding from her, Why was it important for Rick to be in Ofger? Is he in some kind of danger? and why were the doctors hopeless for Jayden waking up soon.' As much as she knew everything was fine with Jayden.
The investigation for Rick's travel to Ofger could wait but Joyden waking up was necessary as Abha had noticed some complications in Jayden's health. His brain scan has started to show some abnormalities and blood clots on his head. If Jayden wasn't rescued soon his life would be in danger.
Fine, If western medicine didn't work then she would try the knowledge she had gained for grandpa.
