Q&A for the most common questions. Don't read if you are new.
Q&A, because people seem confused about a lot of stuff. There aren't spoilers per say, so anyone can read it, but I HEAVILY recommend you skip if you want a full reading experience.
Q: Is the MC from Warhammer 40K?
A: No. MC is from a colony management game called Rimworld. His world has a version of the empire, called Imperium of Man with the emperor, who leads it being a rank 200 mage and having multiple children, one of which is named Eye Of Psi.
Mike's father was a nobleman of the empire and a machine priest(Named after the Warhammer 40K Machin priests, because he was a doctor and engineer). His job was to give people bionic replacements and make them stronger. He was a surgeon and an engineer.
Mike himself was the only child, who didn't seem to fit into the society. He resisted being physical modified by his father's friends and he didn't want to serve his purpose, he wanted to be an artist/sculptor. Due to this, he was abandoned as a 12 year old kid and that's the backstory of my game.
The game itself is a survival game, so any goal is self imposed. The goal I had set for myself was to help Mike survive till adulthood. As a 12 year old, he didn't have much personality and he was randomly generated, so I didn't invent him out of thin air. The reason I chose Mike as the MC is because he had an amazing story for hating supes and powers to back it up.
This isn't a Warhammer 40K based character. In his world there are people, who are 5-10 meters tall, the necromancer in the first chapter was one of those.
Q: Why is MC so short, isn't he a space marine?
A: He is a space marine, as in a guy, who fights in space, not a 40K space marine. His world has those kinds of space marines, but his father was part of the Machine priests, so he isn't one of the big boys and is average size.
Q: Why are you giving the boys magic?
A: Mike is teaching them combat arts or martial arts in common terms. They aren't magical in any nature and Mike is forever cursed to never learn or be able to use magic, as I physically deleted the 'magic user' headiff off of him.
There will be no magic. There will be no spells and the only time magic will be mentioned is when he needs it for context or to make an example or for some other reason. Only boys with powers will be Mike, Hughie and Butcher, as Mike said he physically can't teach the other boys anything.
Q: What happened to his wife?
A: for some reason people don't really understand why I "gave" him a wife. I don't want to spoil anything, but just know he has a wife, who he loves a lot and I didn't randomly decide that. The game ended when Mike turned 18, as I won the game. He is now 22 years old and his wife, Curro, should be about 31 years old right now.
What happened to her in the first chapter is called a psychic coma. It's a Royalty DLC power. She used too much of it and she became nearly brain dead. She is being nursed back to health by Mike's closest companion, named Deus. He is an arcane mage and someone Mike trusts a lot.
I have no idea how people misinterpreted him telling her "I love you. It is a shame I can't stay to treat you(MC is a God tier doctor.). I must go, I'm sorry." The guy then told his best friend to take care of his, repeating myself, COMATOSE wife.
No, this isn't NTR(wtf even is that?). His best friend isn't banging his wife(especially when she is comatose and near brain death, once again repeating this fact).
Q: What are ancients?
A: Rimworld has a mod called 'Vanilla ancients expanded', which adds superpowers by injecting yourself in a special gene altering device. All powers get a downside, which really screws with your characters and they can spawn in wildly as well.
As Mike mentioned, one day an ancient came with the power to breath fire and burned Mike's eye. He needed an eye transplant, so I thought it would be eye-ronic if I stole the guy's eye and then he died of an infection from his wounds.
Basically, Mike thinks Ancients and supers are the same bread. An easy explanation as to why: In Mike's world Pi is 3.14, same as the boys world. Any math done there will work for The Boys world. It's the same with the V and the nanite injections. They both give superpowers by doing something to the human body, so Mike thinks they are too similar to now work the same way.
Q: How strong is Mike?
A: without his equipment, not very. He is good at attacking and moving, but that's because he isn't the most durable person. His durability is about 3 times that of a normal human(his ingame character had a trait, that decreased damage taken to 33% of the original amount, so 3 times more durable). Without the armour, a simple rocket launcher can blow him up. That's IF the rocket launcher can catch him.
His speed is about 80 meters per second. Comparing him to A-train, who's is 450
meters per second, he isn't the fastest, but phase slash boosts his speed to near light speed, so he can technically teleport using it, so he can travel at near light speed for quite a while, but only in a straight line and it's really difficult.
If he is wearing armour though, that's a completely different story. His armour can tank a tank shot easily. The only thing capable of damaging it is Homelander's eye beam or an attack, that passes through said armour, like someone's head exploding.
If you are American, his Durability is about as durable as a bear(actual bear. I checked the game.)
Q: Why do you keep promoting random products like Coca-Cola or Raycon?
A: I find the thought of Mike experiencing The Boys world and it's differences, while advertising it myself absolutely hilarious. I do it sparingly, as some might not find it as funny as I do.
Q: why did he spare starlight? Why not just kill her?
A: Frenchie had his axe and backpack. As Mike himself has said, he is barely better, than a normal human super soldier at combat without his equipment. If Mike is without equipment, he is about a well trained in martial arts bear if he had to fight. Now, do you think a bear can take Homelander? A-train? Noir? Starlight? The Deep? Okay, maybe Deep.
Sure, he has death knight powers(the only class with magic-like abilities), but he didn't use it, as he was absolutely defenceless and didn't want to risk having to fight a potentially really strong super. Side note, if Mike and starlight fought at that moment, Mike would have won, because he could have just run away or gone for her eyes, but risk is risk and Mike doesn't take risks.
Q: What kind of bards does Mike world have?
A: This is a futuristic worlds bard, not a medieval one. Bards are basically therapist as a class. They exist to help people cheer up and stop a mental break from occuring in the game. Basically, they exist to comfort others and aren't the stereotypical bards.
Q: Does Mike genuinely think America is racist?
A: Mike is a very well trained soldier. If he is told something, he takes it at face value, unless he is told not to. The first day he arrived to the world, he was told Americans were racist, so he took it at face value, then a week and a bit more will pass and he spends most of his time gathering intelligence from the internet and social media.
The image of America isn't that good if you are wondering about that. Mike has a pretty big hate for slavery, as it was considered horrible in ideology, but enslaving aliens is acceptable. In short, human's being enslaved isn't good, but slug people, cat girls or ice-cream girls being enslaved is perfectly acceptable.
Q:Why do you update at seemingly random moments?
A: I get distracted and remember I have to fix up my chaps after the reset happens, so I take an arbitrary amount of time to edit stuff down and make a Chapter actually good.
