Chapter 3: CHAPTER TWO
"patronize us again"Josephine shouted after the man who was leaving the store with a polythene bag in his hands. She left the checkout counter and began to walk round the supermarket making sure the goods are in place. Being the first child is a very tasking and difficult position for her that she had to drop out of college so she could work and feed the family with the money she earned, at twenty two, she already has a lot of responsibility, she thought and sighed. She comes from a very poor family of four. Her phone rang and she quickly rushed back to the checkout counter to get it and it was her brother.
"hey"she said
"hello sis how are you?" He asked
"fine and you"
"good"
"is anything up?" she asked
"I just got my paycheck and I want to treat you and Lydia to a dinner tonight, tell her not to refuse" he said
"is it me you want to treat or Lydia?" she teased
"the two of you"
"liar"she said and they both chuckled"okay I will tell her, be expecting us"
"okay , come to the restaurant where I work when you close"
"alright bye"
"bye" he replied and hung up and she dialed Lydia's number
"hey baby girl"Lydia's voice boomed out of the phone speaker
"hello baby, how are you?"
"am good, how about you"
"am just there"she said and they laughed."Sam wants to treat us to dinner this night, he just got his paycheck,you can't refuse"
"it's food we are talking about here, why would I refuse"
"foodie"Josephine teased, excited she agreed to come, she is fully aware of her brother's feeling towards her and knows he would be disappointed if she doesn't show up"
"bye baby girl" said Lydia
"bye, see you later"
"yeah" she said and hung up.
"Oh God! When will this man pay me my money and I wonder how much he will cut" Josephine said to herself and groaned in frustration.

"those shareholders are becoming naughty" Alex said to Fred as they walked back to the office after the meeting
"you have to be wise In your dealings with them"
"yeah I know"
"let's forget about them for now and focus on our sales"
"our sales this week is very high"
"fucking high and am impressed" he said and opened the door to the office and to their surprised, Sarah was sitted on the couch holding a cup of coffee."your mom called again, dinner plans" Fred whispered to him."Oh miss Sarah, what a great surprise!" he exclaimed and shut the door quietly
"hello Mr Fred"
"what are you doing here?"Alex asked in a harsh tone
"to see you of course and mind you, we also have dinner plans
"we?" Alex said and chuckled"this is my office not a meeting spot, you can't just come in anytime you want" he said
"why can't I? Stop being hostile, I picked a restaurant for our dinner already"
"good for you"
"I will excuse you two, have a nice time, Alex fighting" said Fred
"get out!" Alex commanded
"okay" he said and left
"idiot!" he said and smiled. He rolled up his sleeve, revealing his perfect and smooth skin and picked up his car key" don't expect me to go for another dinner after this, am only going because of my mum, let's go" he said and they left.

"Woooooow" Lydia shouted as she shook the bottle of alcohol excitedly
"hey be careful with that" Sam cautioned
"who wants to drink" she asked and giggled
"I want to, I want to" Josephine said raising up her right hand and they laughed
"may I pour you a drink" said Lydia
"yes madam" Josephine said and stretched her cup out to her and she poured her a drink. Lydia is a beautiful girl of average height, she as a round face and a soft black hair that was neatly combed to the back, she has a copper gold eyes and her lips, small and pink in colour.
"Gosh, that wicked boss of mine?" Josephine lamented
"what did he do this time?" asked Sam with a smile on his handsome face
"he cut my pay"
"why?" Sam and Lydia chorused
"because I went late to work today"
"wow but I woke you up"
"guess I slept back, because I can't even recollect you did, I overslept and got there late, twenty minutes late"
"so he cut your pay?" asked Lydia
"that's what I said"
"am surprised you haven't killed your boss yet"
"trust me, if I should get a gun, am going to put it straight to his head" she said and pointed two fingers forward to illustrate her point, "and boom am going to blow off his skull" she said and dropped her fingers and sipped her drink"
"you should work towards getting another job that your boss is too heartless" said Sam
"I will" she muttured
"okay let's stop talking about your boss and eat" said Lydia
"alright" Josephine said and they started on their food. The three stopped eating and watched the couple who took their seat. next to theirs with kin interest. The lady was beautiful and elegant and the man was handsome and sexy.
"why isn't any of the waiter attending to us?" Sarah complained
"be patient, we just came in" said Alex
"they must have seen us come in, they should do their job properly" she said and was about to flare up when Sam stood up and went over to her.
"hello, sorry, the restaurant is quite busy as you can see" he said politely
"who are you"
"I work here, am a waiter"
"so you work here and you sat there like a fool, instead of attending to us"
"what, fo-o-fool" the two girls chorused and Alex turned to face them. Josephine dropped her spoon angrily and said" hey, he was only...
"Josephine" her brother called interrupting her speech, that's enough"
"I didn't even say anything"
"you don't have to" he said and returned his attention back to Sarah" am off duty that's why, I will take your orders or let me get a waiter"
"do that please"
"I will be back" he said and ran off to get a waiter.
"How dare she call my brother a fool" Josephine said, loud enough for Alex and Sarah to hear and they turned to face her.
"Just let it go" said Lydia
"well it's part of his job to get spit at" Sarah said, going through the menu list and Josephine threw an angry look at her
"when you get the gun, kill her too" Lydia said and Alex scoffed
"what , kill who?" Sarah asked and dropped the menu list in her hand angrily
"you"
"you must be nut" Sarah said and Lydia dropped her spoon in annoyance.She turned to face Alex who has been watching quietly and said
"young man I advise you hold your woman tight before she oversteps her bound"
"what did you say"
"that's enough Sarah" he commanded"sorry about that" he apologized to the girls and they continue with their food.
Sam returned with a waiter and went back to join the girls while the waiter took Alex and Sarah's order.
Shortly the three finished their food and prepared to leave." We will walk you home Lydia, let's go" Sam said
"okay" she said and they stood to leave
"bye, have a nice time" Sam said to Sarah and Alex
"why are you telling her bye" Josephine nagged
"stop being jealous, people will think you are my girlfriend" he teased
"what, come here" she said and chased him out of the restaurant and Lydia walked behind them smiling.
