Chapter 17: Covered In Mud

Children living in the magical world are usually boring. The Weasley family's burrow is located on the outskirts of Ottery St Catchpole in Devon. However, the Muggles have not even discovered it.

There are only four wizard residents near them. Diggory's residence is the nearest but a few miles away.

The children of the four families have little contact.

Weasley's children rarely go to the village of Ottery-St Catchpole, let alone play with Muggles.

However, the twins said that their brother had a Muggle friend and she was a pretty girl.

"Muggles are generally difficult to get along with. They always think that we are weird people and usually can't get along and... my home is far from the muggle town."

Jordan's situation was even worse. He is the only one in his family so he doesn't even have a playmate.

Albert is much better than them. He has a younger sister, a pile of books and occasionally plays ball with others.

Although he had no good friends, Albert was quite popular at school.

Albert asked three why the children from the wizarding world don't go to the same schools as Muggle kids.

But, he got no answer. It was pretty hard imagining a family like the Malfoys sending their kid to a muggle school.

Of course, some wizards were exceptions.

However, whatever the twins know right now was taught to them by their family.

"By the way, is there a family called Smith in the wizarding world?" Albert asked. His grandfather's original family was Smith. Later, he followed his Muggle relatives and changed his name.

"Never heard of it, what about you George?" Fred looked at his brother.

"I haven't heard of them either." Jordan shook his head.

"Nothing, I have never heard of this surname."

Albert moved his gaze out of the window, the visibility was low and the sky gradually darkened.

In other words, he didn't even realize that Jordan was so talkative.

Sitting in the cubicle for hours would have been boring but thanks to Jordan, they did not get bored.

Albert opened his eyes again and felt that the train slowing down.

"The train will arrive at Hogwarts in five minutes. Please leave your luggage on the train, we will send it to the school for you." A voice echoed on the train through the loudspeaker.

"Merlin's beard, we have finally arrived." Fred stretched out lazily, his butt was not in a good condition after sitting in the same position for too long.

George helped Albert pack the snacks on the table.

The train stopped and the four walked out of the compartment, struggling to go through the crowd.

When they got off the train, it was really busy. They walked to a dark platform, cold rain fell on the ground and the chill of the night made Albert shiver.

"I hate rain." Albert murmured. He took out his wand and said a spell on his pointed cap, "Water and fire will not invade."

"First-year students! First-year students, all come here!" A loud voice came from the platform. The person lifted an oil lamp above the crowd and shook it to attract the attention of the children.

"What are you doing? Keep up." Fred reached out and gave Albert a hand.

"Wait a minute." Albert did the same spell on his robe. He didn't know if the spell would work, but it was better than nothing.

   "Hurry up, Albert." Jordan urged.

"Don't worry." Albert held his wand and walked towards Hagrid. He was a tall man with a long beard and looked scary from a distance.

"Are these the first-year freshmen? Let's go." Hagrid took them away from the platform. Losing the shelter of the platform, the cold rain hit them, causing the freshmen to shiver.

"Be careful while using your feet." Hagrid yelled but it didn't help at all. The trail was wet and muddy and many people fell several times.

Albert wore the pointed cap and robe, wrapping himself tighter.

Fortunately for him, the spell worked and he did not fell like the others.

"Are you okay?" In front of him, another girl fell.

"Thank you." The girl who was Albert just helped up said gratefully

"Let's go." Albert let go of her hand.

This was the worst batch of freshmen ever. Most were covered in mud.

"Be careful, we're going downhill." Hagrid shouted in the front.

After he went down, he stood aside to avoid any students slipping while walking on this steep slope.

Facts proved that he made a wise decision. Three guys almost fell but Hagrid caught them in time.

"Be careful, we will be at the lake soon."

After waiting for everyone, Hagrid again lead the way.

After some walking, they finally reached the lake.

On the hillside across the lake, there was a castle, Hogwarts.

Lights were flickering on the windows, which was particularly conspicuous under the curtain of night.

"There must be no more than four people in each boat. Remember, no more than four people!" Hagrid pointed to the boat on the shore and shouted to the freshmen.

"Albert, come here." One of the twins waved at him, Jordan was also there. They were all covered in mud.

"How are you guys." Albert couldn't help laughing at them as he got into the boat.

   "Not good. I fell once."

"Get on the boat" Hagrid yelled.

After he made sure that no one was left, he stood in a boat himself, "Very well, then... go ahead."

The boat automatically sailed across the lake.

Albert raised his head and stared at Hogwarts in front of him. There was an inexplicable excitement in his heart.
