Chapter 2: Chapter 2

~Hours Before They Met~

"Rowan Parker. We are not finished with this conversation. You can go on a trip for a week, but eventually you are going to come back home and when you do, you are going on that blind date with the girl I chose for you." His mother, Elena, told him as he packed his bags.

"Mom, you can't force me to marry someone I don't love. And the woman you chose for me is a complete lunatic." he told her without looking at her.

"She is very sweet and hard working and your father and I also got arranged married." She told him.

He sighed, seeing that his mom will not give up.

"Can we talk about this when I come back, please?" he asked his mother, looking at her.

She nodded and held his shoulder while looking at him.

"I only want what's best for you, son. I love you." She told him.

"I know, mom. I love you too." he told her.

"Have a safe flight. I will get off your plate now." She told him and kissed his cheek.

"Bye, mom." he told her.

"Bye, sweetie. Have fun." she told him and then left.

He let a huge frustrated sigh as soon as she left and collapsed on his bed.

He wanted to avoid marriage with the girl his mother chose for him. Because even though she was really pretty and looked sophisticated and well mannered, he knew she was anything but that. She was a mean person and a bully. He had experienced her bullying first hand.

When he was at school, she used to bully him a lot. Mostly because he wore glasses and looked like a nerd but he was a straight-A student in the class and she used to get horrible grades and got compared to him by her own parents. But that was before puberty.

Just before he hit puberty, he changed schools so he could escape her bullying. After puberty, he changed a lot. He got handsome and worked out. He even threw on his glasses and started wearing contact lenses.

Rowan thought he would never have to meet that horrible girl again, but his mother proved him wrong.

He had no idea how his mother found her or even took a liking to her, but he wanted to do absolutely nothing with her.

He decided to take a trip with his best friend to de-stress himself, but it looked like he was going to take stress with him on vacation, too.

He got up and quickly packed his bags. Still having a lot of time before his flight, he went to sleep after setting up the alarm.

A few hours later, he woke up on his own before his alarm rang and went to the airport. Since he was the first person there, he checked in and waited for his best friend to arrive while listening to music with his headphones on.

Soon, his best friend arrived, and they boarded the plane together.

"When we get there, I'm going to sleep, eat and repeat." His best friend, Tom Heather, told him.

"Good for you Tommy. At least you have your life sorted out." he told him in an exhausted tone.

Tom looked at him.

"What's up with you?" he asked, seeing his friend stressed out.

"It's my mom. She wants me to get married to the very woman who bullied me when I was in junior school." he told him.

"Well, that's some news." Tom said with wide eyes and looked at him with a frown. "Why didn't you tell me earlier?"

"You were in your final residency days and we barely talked with each other at that time." he told him and leaned back into the chair. "I have no idea how that woman charmed my mother, but I wouldn't be with her even if humanity depended on it."

"Maybe you can live in a forest and I'll tell them you fell out of a cliff and I couldn't find you body." Tom told him with a grin.

Rowan punched him in the stomach.

"You know very well that I can't live without tech." He told him.

Tom rubbed stomach.

"Have you tried to convince her to not let you get married to her?" Tom asked.

Roman pinched the bridge of his nose in fraustion.

"Yeah. She threatened me that she'll take the company away from me." He told her.

Tom whistled in amazement.

"Wow. Your mom is really your villain, isn't she?" He asked him.

"Yeah, and I don't know why she is pushing me into marriage like that." He told him.

"What's the girl's name, by the way?" Tom asked him.

"Diana Ross." he told him.

"Oh, I know her. She's pretty popular in our circle. Everyone calls her a fairy because she's drop dead gorgeous." Tom told him.

"And drop dead bully. That woman is two-faced." Rowan told him with a disgusted expression. "Because of her, I'm taking stress on my vacation."

"Chill. Who knows, maybe you'll get lucky during vacation." Tom told him.

"I'm keeping my fingers crossed for it." He told him.

"What's the worst that can happen?" Tom asked him with a smile. "Think positive."

~Few Hours Later~

"My fucking mouth. I just had to say that." Tom told himself sarcastically when he was unable to find his best friend.

He was busy looking at the nature that he forgot to pay attention to Rowan and by the time he turned to look at him. Rowan was already gone. He had sent people into the forest to look for him, but so far, no luck.

He was starting to get worried that something bad really might've happened to him.

"Man, I really hope that you're okay." he said worriedly.

~Meanwhile Somewhere In The Forest~

"What the worst that can happen, he says." Rowan said in an annoyed tone as he went down the forest covered in mud and dirt.

He was with a group of tourists, but got separated from the group because he got distracted on his phone. While trying to find his group, he went deep into the forest and fell down a lot. He was tired and thirsty.

"Think positive, he says." Rowan said in an annoyed tone. "I'm going to kill you, Tommy, when I see you."

What was worse was that his phone died and he couldn't read the paper map he had.

After what felt like walking for hours, he saw a female figure up ahead.

"Finally." He said in relief and closer to her. "Excuse me?" He called her around.

As soon as she turned around and looked at him, his heart fluttered. She was really beautiful.

'Damn. she would make Diana run for the money for sure.' he thought, looking at her.

He saw her expression changed into a dangerous one. Suddenly she grabbed her bow and arrows and aimed it at him. He didn't have even have time to react before she shot one arrow at him.

'Ah, this must be it.' he thought as everything slowed down for him.
