Chapter 9: The Questioning
Elvis could be seen pacing down the hallway when he almost bumped into his Father, Garrick who stepped out of a room.
He stared dagger at his son and walked away.
"Are you gonna ignore me?, Father"
"You starved the girl, son"
"And so?"
"I made a clear rule before leaving and you defiled it"
"Feed that b*tch, I can't, we're suppose to be hunting them"
"You're speaking out of anger, Son, we don't hunt them, we hunt vicious creatures, mostly werewolves, they're not one"
"Fine, agreed, I'm speaking out of anger because she tricked me"
"You starved the girl, Elvis, more reason to, she's not in a good health condition now"
"Okay, I'm sorry I acted foolishly but father, I don't trust beings like her,"
"But we used her to ensure peace for months now, we just need to hit the right button".
"Alright, what do we do then?"
"Restore her to normal state of health and find the so rumored Nicholas you talk about, we can't waste time"
"Fine, I'll instruct Badoo to get drugs"
"He did already, a doctor is attending to her"
"She's dangerous Father, we can't let anyone near her"
"I know, I have everything under control"
"That's what you always say"
"Yes, because I do, now let's talk about cleaning the mess you created" He announced walking away.
"Mess, what mess?"
"Your dead men and the guns in the woods, the police are looking into it"
"What?"
"I have an informant who works Interpol, the serial number of some of our arms were sent to them about an hour ago"
"Damn!"
"No fears son, we're gonna scale through as usual"
"And fvcking kill those wolves"
"We will, son" He replied and a dark skinned macho marched up to them.
"Badoo, is the doctor done yet?"
"Yes, her health is improving"
"Good"
"Sir Garrick, you have guests"
"Guests, I'm not expecting anyone"
"Cops, Detective Gomez"
"De...tec...tive what?" Elvis asked.
"Gomez, he came with someone else, a partner I think"
"We'll join them soon, get them something to drink" Garrick told him.
Badoo bowed and left.
"Father, That freaking cop, Gomez"
"He can do nothing, go get the contract documents"
"Right away, Father"

"What plans do you have for today?" Silvia could be seen mumbling as she walked down the hallway to the classroom.
She pushed open the door and there was Miss Rose standing in front of the students.
"Just like I said quadratic equation ain't a big deal, it looks big but can be tamed if you truly wish to..."
She paused and turned to see Silvia who was gazing at her.
"Did you miss your way?"
"Actually, my class"
"You must be the new student, Silvia Nicholas, right?"
"Right, I'm Silvia".
"Fall in then, you wouldn't want to miss this class"
Silvia smiled and walked confidently to sit beside Elena.
"Hey, Elena, you're back"
She ignored Silvia and kept a straight look at the board.
"Are you angry?"
"Seems Elena Gomez got a friend" Silvia heard the teacher's voice and turned to see her.
"Elena Gomez is good at maths, you can bond with her to know more although she's been off lately"
Elena's head dropped like a log of wood and Silvia looked into her face.
"And there's also Sarah, a rising maths star, you can bond with her too" Miss Rose points to the back.
Silvia's eyes trailed the teacher's finger to where she sat.
Sarah let out a soft smile and waved at Silvia but she ignored her by looking away.
She slowly drop her waving hand with a face of disgust.
"So as I was saying, Quadratic equation got a degree of 2 unlike 3 and above that leads us to a polynomial which we'll be talking about some other time..."
Miss Rose paused for a moment and turned to the board with her marker.
"Write then"

Garrick marched down the stairs to see Detective Gomez and Sergeant Kim who rose to their feet immediately.
"Mr. Garrick Grimes" They both chorused.
"Welcome to my abode, I asked my man to get you something..."
"We're fine, actually I'm Detective...."
"Gomez, everyone at Stardom knows you"
"Oh, never knew I was that famous"
"I know you very well Mr. Gomez and Sergeant Kim Newman, kindly have your seat"
Garrick sat opposite them and rubbed his hand together.
"Alright, a reputable detective showing up at my house, what's up?"
Detective Gomez dropped a hardcopy file on the table and pushed it forward.
"That's the sale record of Raytheon Technologies Corporation that proves that they supply you with firearms, matches the firearm that were found in the scene of a massacre..."
"In the woods" Garrick completed.
"You know about it"
"I just arrived in town today because of it, I was planning to show up at the station"
"So you're agreeing that the dead bodies in the woods are your people?" Sergeant Kim asked.
"Yes"
Detective Gomez nodded and bite his lower lip.
"This question might seem off but but I need to know why a government company is providing weapons for you and what your people were doing with classified firearms in the woods last night"
"You have no warrant, Detective"
"Smart move, you noticed that"
"And your Lieutenant probably knows nothing about this, this information you got is a classified one that he wouldn't want you meddle with"
"And now I believe you're no ordinary man, I'll ask the appropriate question now?, who are you Mr. Garrick?"
"Good, detective,"
He snapped his fingers and Elvis raced down the staircase with a briefcase.
Placing it in front of them, he clicked it open and brought out some documents.
"Kindly go through, detective" Garrick told him and Badoo appeared out of nowhere with a cup of coffee.
He handed it over to him and he gulped it in.
"What!, You need to see this Sergeant" Detective Gomez said handing over one of the files to him.
"You don't have to go through all detective, you seen the main thing, what do you see?, detective"
"A contract agreement between your family and the government to hunt wild creatures in the city for the duration of ten years, of which they'll provide the necessary weapons for the job to be done"
"Can you see detective?, classified contract between the Grimes and the government, we can employ whoever we want and if there are any damages, they'll take care of it".
"We've gotten what we need, detective"
"Yes, we have sergeant but we need to know, Mr. Garrick, what killed your men?"
"The wild creatures killed some, listen detective, I was out of town when wild creatures were rumored to be roaming around Stardom, my people swung into action but got overpowered, they opened fire in confusion and killed themselves but the wild creatures got to some, I had to return immediately I heard the news, it's disheartening "
" I'm sorry for the loss, wild creatures in stardom?, escaped from zoo or what? "
" I won't entertain any more questions without my lawyer, my family are hunters as you can see there, I made a deal with the government not you detective Gomez and if they find you roaming around my business, a piece of advice, your work would be at risk so step back detective "
Detective Gomez rose to his feet and packed the files he brought.
" Thanks for answering honestly "
" You're most welcomed detective,"
" And.... " Garrick called as he turned to leave with Sergeant Kim.
" I'll be showing up at the station to have a talk with your Lieutenant, he knows about the contract but I guess he doesn't know that this is related to us, just be a good detective and pretend we never met, I'm sure the case will be taken from you in 24hours, good day, detective "
Detective Gomez nodded slowly and left with his partner.
" Oh, Father was that necessary, showing him the contract and telling him what we hunt"
"I've been in this for years, son, I know what I'm doing, the detective would push to find the truth by all means and probably get something to pull us down but now he knows he's dealing with the government if he tries to, he thinks what we do is legal and I gave him the truth on a platter of gold, there's nothing to investigate further, and so we've solved our problem with one clean sweep "
" Wow!, that's brilliant father but detective Gomez is a stubborn man, he never let go of cases until he gets to the bottom of it "
" I've spoken with Colonel already, the Fbi will handle the mess and he'll be occupied with other cases "
" With this, I'll listen attentively to you from now, father, you cleaned the mess I caused and now we can focus on the wolves "
" Exactly son, detective Gomez is free to investigate more but he should be ready for the case that will ruin the entire life and reputation he's been building up "

There was joy in the air as Stardom High electric bells rang loudly all over the premises announcing the break period.
Students trooped out of their classroom in their numbers and in seconds the hallways were filled up.
Miss Rose covered her marker and turned to her students who were getting inpatient already.
"I guess we'll get to stop here for now, see you in the next class" She told them and left immediately.
"She's kind of cool" Silvia told Elena who kept a pale look.
She replied with a shrug causing her to frown.
"Hey" She called holding Elena's chin.
"You got anything bordering you?, I'm here"
"What's the new girl doing with with frog eyes?" Sarah inquired from Johnson who sat on her desk.
"That was what I was going to tell you earlier?"
"She looks hot though and everyone seems to get their eyes on her, perfect member for my little gang, what do you think, John?"
"I think she's stubborn and she got a thing for your pet, Elena, they've been together, she even stopped me from hurting her"
"What?"
"I'm serious, I guess we need to teach her that we're the boss here"
"Inform Dave to try using his charms on her, if it doesn't work out then I'll go the hard way, she can't come here and steal popularity"
"Right away"
Sarah raised her head to see Silvia following after Elena who was leaving the class.
"I'm seriously gonna kill this girl "She cursed.
" C'mon Elena, are you avoiding me? "
" I've told you just stay away, okay?, I want to be alone "
Silvia halt and watched her vanish into the crowd of students flooding the hallway.
She inhaled heavily and bit her lower lip.
" Are you stalking me now?" Whispering, she turned to see the amber haired Maggie who was in front of her.
" Just looking around for today, I'll be gone never to return"
"Don't give me that look, Maggie" She told her and turned away.
"What's on with you and this Elena girl?"
"You eavesdrop now?"
"I'm a wolf, sister"
"It sounds crazy but I feel attracted to her"
"When you hated boys I didn't know this was the meaning?"
"You know I might lose my patience just one day and kill you before I realize I've done wrong"
She turned to see Maggie with a creepy smile.
"I'm not into girls, you idiot, there's just something off about her"
"Stay away from her, Mother, I mean Sister"
"Do you love me that much to make omission, well I'm your mummy now" Silvia pulled her cheek.
"Stop it, you shouldn't move with humans"
"On that, I think we're done here Sister"
She scoffed as she watched Silvia walk out of sight.
Elena could be standing in front of the food serving counter in the cafeteria.
"Thank you" She smiled softly at the middle aged woman who handed over a tray with pancakes and soft drinks.
She turned to leave but there was Sarah in front of her.
Fear gripped her immediately and she struggled not to let go of the tray.
"Hello, frog eyes" She smirked and wrapped her left hand around Elena's neck.
"Tell me, do you still feel pain where I hit you yesterday?"
She shook her head like a dummy and Sarah smiled.
"Such a strong girl"
They had their seat in front of a glass and the students already watched them.
"You know the new girl, Silvia" She began and Elena rose her head up.
She took one of the pancake and eat it with an evil look.
"I need you to stay away from her"
"We ain't friends, Silvia and I"
"Good, that's the reason you're my favorite, Elena Gomez, you're brilliantly dumb"
"Just don't hurt her, it's on me"
"And that sounds like you care for her"
"No, I don't, no one needs to suffer because of me"
"Hmm, such a big heart, I'll consider that" She told Elena and uncovered one of the bottle.
She gulped in the entire content and gasped heavily.
"Why the stares?, you got a problem with me eating your meal?"
"Eat as much as you want"
"Thank you, honey"
