Chapter 6: Dormant I
"Well, this is way more than I expected. Without a doubt the most talented batch yet." Saitan admitted with a stern look and folded arms, "You guys might attract the attention of the academies, military, and corporations. You might not even need to roam the city before you get scouted."
I had to nod in agreement with Saitan's statement. Over half of the people in this room were at the peak of the Meridian Formation Stage. The rest were between the peak of the Foundation Stage and the seventh level of the Meridian Formation.
Looks like I can build up my power in peace. There are many people with the same cultivation as me. Granted, I'm pretty sure I have the highest battle prowess. But they don't need to know that though.
"Next, it's time to find out your attunement." Saitan contained, drawing the eyes and inquisitive stares of everyone.
"Attunement is the element that you'll have an affinity with and will determine what type of circler you are. The possibilities are limitless since this affinity isn't limited to basic elements such as earth, wind, fire, and water. A circler can only be attuned to what element and this process is based entirely on your personality and who you are deep within your core, so most likely everyone here has no clue what their attunement will be. Saitan explained.
The crown gasped in surprise and I narrowed my eyes. This was unexpected. I was hoping the system could give me the option to choose my affinity but it seems this situation is out of my hands.
I'm just hoping the element I get isn't ass. Saitan said that a circler can only be attuned to one element. Once it's awakened it can't be changed so what you get is what you get.
"Once your attunement is awakened the ether in your meridians will erupt throughout your body and will begin to form your Ether Circle. But it will be dormant as you haven't begun to fill it with the. This is what we call Ethereum Dormants." Saitan finished and snapped his fingers, a transparent sphere emerged from a hole in the floor and began to float silently in the center of the lobby.
"I'm sure you all have questions about your attunement and what it means but that isn't my job to tell you guys that. My only job is to make sure you all reach the bare minimum strength required to survive out here. Once you run into a representative of the military, academy, or a corpo they'll answer all the questions you ask them. Now, with that shit out of the way you guys choose among yourselves of whose going to come up first. This isn't grade school, pretty sure you all are grown enough to make your own decisions."
As people began whispering amongst themselves about who was going to go test their luck first I stood in the corner with my arms crossed and an unbothered expression on my face.
After about three minutes of deliberation, someone finally decided to step up, a young man with blond hair and orange eyes stepped up to the transparent sphere and stared at it with pure confidence.
He was wearing a purple robe with black boots. He was human, that was certain but there was something off about him that I couldn't put my finger on.
Without a sherd of hesitation in his eyes, he placed his palm on the sphere and injected his ether into it. The sphere reacted with a flash of white light before it began to shuffle through an array of colors.
Everyone stood tense as the sphere continued to shift through colors. Even I paid attention to the scene that was happening in front of me. After all, I've never seen some shit like this before.
The only person who seemed uninterested in this spectacle was Saitan who merely stood there with a bored look on his face. Granted he's probably been through this hundreds of times he should at least be somewhat interested in this guy's attunement. It could be something good.
The air seemed to be void as the colors began to slow down and finally stopped on an icy blue color. The temperature in the lobby dropped drastically and most people had to circulate their ether to not become a frozen popsicle. At least that was the case for those in meridian formation. The ones that were still in the foundation stage were screwed.
"That's it?" Saitan laughed in mockery, "All that buildup for you to be a damn ice circler? Don't get it twisted, Ice is a rare element but based on how you came up to the sphere I thought you were going to get something powerful."
The guy's face flushed with rage but before he could give a rebuttal Saitan continued, "But if I'm going to be honest Ice is a decent attunement. Does it make you high-class? Fuck no but it doesn't make you trash either so before you blow a fuse over some petty shit always remember that it could be worse for you."
Saitan waved his hand and the blonde-haired boy flew forward to the doors that opened behind Saitan.
When he flew through the doors they closed and everyone just stood there silent.
"The fuck are you all standing there holding your dicks for?" He asked, irritated for some reason, "Line the fuck up and find out your attunement. Standing there praying to your false gods is not going to change shit so you might as well get it over with."
After that, everyone started going up and finding out their attunements like clockwork.
After that blonde hair kid, the attunements that were seen were either mid or some straight-up ass. Fire, Water, Wind, Nature, all the basic shit was just being named. Granted most of the people that were getting these attunments were still in the foundation stage.
But right when I was getting bored my instincts stirred and my eyes locked on the next person that was going to awaken their attunment.
