Chapter 14: Chapter 14
In the morning Laura had a slight fever. Andre wanted to postpone their flight but Laura insisted that they go that day so he called the doctor and the doctor prescribed a few medicines for her. Andre went out for a bit to get the medicines and when he got back Laura was almost done packing and she had already dressed up. He made sure she ate enough breakfast and gave her the medicines. Laura in her hurry to pack her remaining luggage didn't realize that she hihad picked the small container her cousin's fiancee, Charlotte had given her the last time they met. She put the container in the small bag that contained her medicine, she had long forgotten that Charlotte ever gave her something like that. And then they were ready to go to India. They boarded Priya's private plane.
On their way to India, Laura and Andre cuddled on the bed in one of the cabins. Even though Laura was eager to meet her mother-in-law's family. She was starting to get very nervous. Andre could sense this so he decided to ask her about it.
"Why are you nervous?." He turned her around and made her face him.
"I don't know whether your extended family members will like me." She looked up to meet his gaze.
" And why wouldn't they like my wife. She's beautiful, caring, has respect for her elders and she has so many other good qualities. And she has such an amazing laugh." Immediately after he said this he started to tickle her.
Laura started laughing uncontrollably " Haha no haha stop please hahaha..." She said incoherent words as tears started to form in her eyes. Andre finally decided to leave her alone and he hugged her from behind again.
"I'm hungry." Laura pouted
" Me too. What do you want to eat?."
After eating, Andre sat on the sofa to do some work while Laura read a book.
"Do you still feel feverish?" He asked her with his concentration still on the file he was holding.
"No, I'm totally fine now. I told you it was a slight fever and there was no need to reschedule our flight."
"Okay then, the doctor said you should take it if you feel feverish again buy since you're not feeling any symptoms and your temperature is normal. There's no need to take the medicines."
"Hmmmn." She said and she went to sleep.
After 17 hours of flight, they landed in India safely. They left country X around 11am but since India was 11 hours 30 minutes ahead of county X's time, it would be 4am in the morning in country X but it was already 3:30pm in India.
As soon as they got off the plane, Andre excused himself to make an important call so she also decided to call her father because she was sure that he would be expecting her call by now. Her father had already picked before she remembered that the time in country X and country F were the same.
"I'm so sorry dad, I didn't think about the time before calling you. It's afternoon here in India. I'm so sorry I disturbed your sleep."
"No no. it's okay. How was your flight?."
"It was amazing dad, even though I slept through most of it. It was still very good."
Her father chuckled. "Even though I'm not there to watch over you, I know you're in safe hands. Your husband takes care of you so much. He's helping me with my company as well. I don't even know how to express my gratitude towards him. I told him this once and he said I should do nothing other than trust him with you."
A big smile made its way on Laura's face as she turned her back around to look at Andre while her father was talking on the phone.
"But are you happy?" her father asked in a serious tone.
"Huh?"
" I know he's taking good care of you and he's providing you with all you need but I can't help but think how sudden the marriage between the two of you was. I mean just a week before you told me you were getting married, you were cursing him and saying all sorts of things about him. I just don't understand."
Laura felt her throat tighten. She knew her father would father out sooner or later but it was too soon for him to be this suspicious. At least, she wanted him to have cleared up everything concerning his company first. If her father found out, he wouldn't take it lightly, he would feel like he sold his daughter off.
"Dad, we're about to leave for mother-in-law's family house now. I'll call you when we get there okay?, so we'll have time to talk better." She hurriedly said.
Her father sighed and replied "Okay."
"Bye dad."
As soon as she ended the call, she heaved a sigh of relief. This time, she had turned herself back to her original position so she didn't know Andre was behind her. He wrapped his arms around her waist and rested his head on her shoulder as he breathed in her scent. Laura was startled at first but she relaxed when she saw that it was him.
"What are you doing?. We're outside and everyone is watching." She tried to free herself from his grip but she didn't succeed.
"So?. You're my wife and I'm not doing anything wrong. And besides not much people are here, only the bodyguards and my mum. Let's just stay like this for a little longer."
She accepted defeat and let him do what he wanted. They stood there and basked in the sunlight. Priya was sitting and watching the both of them from afar.
'Did Andre really think he could hide this contract marriage from me?.' She thought.
She found out the truth about the marriage between Andre and Laura two weeks after their marriage. She was a powerful woman, what she wanted to know she would know, especially if it was involving her son. Initially, she was angry but she had been finding ways to either make them fall in love with each other or if they had fallen in love she wanted to make them realize it and their trip to India was a good opportunity.
She had already told everyone the truth behind their marriage and they had all made a plan together. Two weeks was enough if they were sure about what they wanted to do and the fact that Laura and Andre understood one another would make things easier for them.
Laura and Andre stood in the same position for a couple of minutes before Andre's phone rang. He picked it up and released Laura, well not completely... He held his phone with one hand and her waist with the other.
"Hey, big cuz... We're waiting outside. Come out with aunt and big cuz-in-law!" The person on the other side of the phone was literally screaming. Andre ended the call without saying anything.
" My twin cousins are already waiting, let's go."
" You mean your cousins Prem and Priyom?" Andre had already made her familiar with his maternal family by telling her their names and showing her their pictures while they were in the plane not knowing that Laura had five this herself. Her mother-in-law's family was very powerful in India so she had searched a lot of things about them but Andre's explanation was still very helpful.
I think I should highlight the family members now for better understanding.

Prem and Priyom were a very handsome identical pair that even their cousins mistake one for the other sometimes. But there was a factor that made them very different. Priyom was the calm and collected type, he wasn't the type to be seen flocking around with girls or going to clubs and night parties. He was more like Andre, only that he wasn't heartless or cold. He was a bollywood actor that was gradually rising to greater heights without help from anyone. Even though he was calm and collected, he was uncontrollable when he was angry, well it rarely happened.
His twin brother Prem was the complete opposite. He was an hyperactive spazz, the ladies man, a sweet talker. The exact type of man that you wanted at your store where you sold ladies' jewelry or clothes because he would talk everyone into buying something. He was a famous musician and he also didn't use his family's influence to get to where he was. Even though he was lively and funny, no one would ever want to see his bad side.
When Andre, Laura and Priya got to where the cars were waiting for them. They saw a man leaning on one of the cars and Laura immediately concluded that he was Priyom, there was no way Prem could stay calm like that. He raised his head up and greeted Priya before proceeding to greet the couple.
"Aunt... Welcome" He bent down to seek her blessing but before he could Priya already pulled him in for a hug.
"My darling Priyom.. How have you been?" She released him from the hug and continued to question him. Priyom replied all of her questions respectfully even though he was itching to go meet his cousin-in-law.
Laura and Andre stood a little bit far away from them but while they were watching, they didn't realize that someone had snuck behind them. Who could it be other than the pranking Prem.
" Big Cuz!!" He suddenly exclaimed which caused Laura to scream. She was so startled that she staggered and almost fell if not for Andre who caught her on time. He shot Prem a sharp glare. Prem chuckled nervously and introduced himself to Laura.
"I'm so sorry for startling you. I'm Prem Lal. And you're beautiful." He said as he extended his hand out for a shake. Laura took it and smiled at him. Andre was literally shooting bullets out of his eyes aimed at Prem.
Priyom also introduced himself to Laura and they proceeded to go home. They travelled in three cars; Laura and Andre with Prem driving in one, Priya and Priyom in another, and their bodyguards in the last. Grandfather Davis didn't come because there was a ten-day long get-together that him and his friends organized anually and he was attending.
