Chapter 3: STAR FALL

Dimension break, it is a phenomenon that occurs due to the distortion of time. As if time distortion is not as rare as they say it is and is well known among the travellers but when it comes to Dimension Break, it is something which is almost imaginary. One of its only occurrences has been recorded on the reports of the 'Time Dweller'.

Time distortion is a phenomenon that occurs due to the disturbance in the space time cross-section. Most of the time the victim's survival rate in such incidents is less than 0.00001 percent. Even if the victim survives, in most of the cases either they lose their ability to communicate or else they lose their senses. Either way they fall victim to Grade 5 Time sickness. It's just there is simply no way of helping them.

The situation completely turned the moment that deviant knock was heard at the door. The expression on Nate's face turned blank. Trace could sense the smile she had disappearing in an instant. In moments the momentary knocks changed into hard hits and then into banging. And that wasn't the end of it, somehow he could feel an eerie calmness all over the place as if there was no one else than them on the entire floor.

To his knowledge, the apartment he lived in had 4 floors and there were a lot of other residents in there as well but never before that day had he felt that level of noiselessness.

Above all Trace felt one thing deep inside that something bad, very bad was going to happen and that was when he noticed a sinister grin curvin through Nate's face as her eyes were stuck to something specific in his room….

"You like fireworks boi?" she asked smiling,

"Y-Yeah, w-why?"

"Then, we'll just have to go out with a bang, I suppose…"

With that she quickly stood up, her eyes fixed at the crowbar right at the corner of his room.

"You sure do have a lot of handy stuff at your home, don't you?" smiled Nate the moment she got her hands on it.

The next second she ran towards the door, moved the only wooden shoe rack Trace probably had towards the door entrance. Then with the help of the crowbar she somehow turned it upside down completely blocking the door from both sides. Trace just stood there, staring at her, dumb founded.

"Come on, don't just stand there!" called out Nate "Bring anything you can find to block the entrance…"

""Y-Yeah.."

Whoever was outside, soon got the hang of it, hence it didn't take much time for the banging to change into hitting sounds. It was obvious, they were trying to force their way in now.

"This won't hold them for much long," said Nate.

"Trace, pack-up whatever you need? We'll be leaving this place in no time"

"What do you plan to do…?" asked Trace

"Move your legs boi, you got just 5 minutes..!" replied Nate and rushed into his kitchen.

In a few seconds Trace could hear the kletering of his utensils, followed by the aroma of Methyl Mercaptan brewing from the kitchen making its way to Trace's nostrils. He ran towards the kitchen and that was when his eyes met the sight of her stuffing the top of the stove with some blue-black liquid.

"You can't be serious..!" said Trace with a terrified expression on his face… "Hell, are you actually planning to blow off this entire apartment..!?"

"You're still standing there, remember you got only 5, ops! It's only 3 minutes now…! Better move those pretty legs of yours…"

Trace knew she wasn't kidding about anything anymore, With that he darted around the rooms, collecting literally anything he could find a little value in. As he was stuffing things in a bag, at some point he suddenly paused. That was when he noticed something he shouldn't have.

Through his bedroom window, he noticed the light from his neighbour's apartment blinking unsusaly. Something about that place seemed wrong, very wrong. Trace knew they were at home and it was unusual for them to leave that light blinking that way. As he ran his eyes through their room in the recurrent darkness, vaguely through the windowpane he could see 3 silhouettes, all lying on the floor.

Anxious, of what they were, he tried to look closely. In the emerging moonlight as he stressed his eyes, he noticed all 3 of them, dripping out in some sort of dense liquid. Seeing that made his imagination run rampid. He quickly took out the flash light from his desk and lit it on their window. And then he finally saw it.

That wasn't some dense liquid he saw back there dripping out of those entities, rather it was the trail of blood emerging from the dead corpse of his neighbors. The same neighbours he just spoke to in the morning.

Trace felt his stomach threatened to explode as his knees turned to ice. Never in his worst nightmare had he seen anything remotely close to the horror before him now. He threw up the moment his eyes fell on one of the bodies faced towards him. The man had no eyes. It wasn't like his eyelids were closed or something rather the place where his eyes were supposed to be was empty, all there were were dark empty sockets with just a few instances of blood surrounding it.

"Work of a collector I should say…" said out Nate "So you saw it too, didn't you…?"

As she thumped his back from behind, comforting him a bit.

"Why would they do such a thing…?" Trace asked

"We have to move, now, there is no time to lose…"

"Why is this happening to me, what have I done to deserve this, why does it always have to be me of all people."

Nate already knew such a thing could happen, after all Trace wasn't ready for any of it. By looks he was on the verge of losing it. The confusion and erieeness of the situation was driving him crazy. In a way it's actually better for her, now she doesn't have to explain what she was plotting next.

"Tell me boy, you don't wanna die, do you…?"

She whispered in his ear, holding his hand, making him stand on his knees. Up until that moment the banging on the door had stopped. She knew what was coming next. Hence, without wasting another moment she quickly opened one of the windows nearby and made him stand on it. Before he was able to settle with the situation she kindly asked him to close his eyes.

Trace could feel she was tieing something to his back.

"Say hello to the stars for me, will ya?" smiled Nate…

As he was going to ask her why, she instantly kicked him out of the window.

The next moment she grabbed the crowbar using a Menacing lead and laced it to the window. Then pulled herself out with an astonishing dive, leaving the crow bar behind, stuck at the window pane doing the job of a hook for them to hang.

A Little Knowledge Never Hurts…..

01. Menacing Lead:-

First origin from Time-line: 24.5645.3050

Around the Roin Aldor Plains, Tront late France.

After the war had ended, many new metals were found in existence and one of those was known by the name of Latrimarium L-78, named after Lantinum due to their similar appearance.

L-78 had a very specific composition due to which the metal can produce a stretching effect and if maintained properly can produce an automatic pulling effect as well acting as a natural grappling hook.

In year 2450, it was finally made ready and successfully converted into a specific grappling hook for the heavy machines and was named 'The Menacing Lead'

Even so it's still not meant for individual human use, since its stretch is uncontrollable in most of the cases.
