Chapter 98: Lucky Cat Meowth

The final location that had been targeted which the heirs were at was where Micah and Cleo were near.

Unlike the main attack that was very close to Rufus and had caused damage to the building to the point of being able to bring it down on him, the other attacks were not as direct.

The heirs were considered as less of a threat so the range of the explosion just needed to be close enough for them to be distracted or pushed away by the blast.

Just disorienting them was more than enough for them to be captured and those capturing them did not wish to damage them too much.

If they were damaged then it was possible that their value as slaves would be reduced so the berries they would earn from selling them would be much lower.

In order to increase their profits, they had to choose how they targeted each person in a way that would bring them the most success, lack of casualties and better quality slaves.

Rufus had been the priority to remove if it was required to do so while each of the heirs were seen as less of a threat that could be dealt with by adult Minks or other capturing methods.

Seven hundred thousand berries were the average or minimum amount that could be paid for a single healthy Mink so different conditions could easily lower but in an auction setting, they could be sold for a greater price.

The problem was that the human traffickers would be the ones to put in all the work to sell the Minks to an auction house or slave dealer so they would not be the ones to sell them at such high prices.

There would be some kind of fee or a fixed percentage that would be taken by those people to arrange the sale and if it was a situation where they wished to get an immediate sale then they may get a fixed price while the buyer would go on to resell the slave at a much higher price.

Not all dealers kept their end of deals and would betray others for a quick profit so it would not be a surprise for them to turn on those supplying them the slaves.

Getting involved with the underworld was very dangerous and it required a certain level of ability to protect oneself and a higher level of vigilance to danger.

Having the Glutt family backing them, the human traffickers had been able to continue in that field for a long time even if they had very few strong people among them.

They provided the connections and did most of the work in the underworld while the Glutt family were the ones providing the power.

It was a mutually beneficial relationship which had worked out well for them so long as both sides did not get too greedy.

They may have suffered losses due to them being unable to catch a highly priced slave in a long time but their long wait had allowed them to regain everything back with a big catch.

Micah was walking along the street with his hand holding onto the hand of Cleo as he was playing with a fifty berry coin.

It rolled around between his fingers until it sat on top of his hand underneath his thumb.

The thump came upward and flicked the coin up into the air above him.

He did not notice his surroundings due to preparing himself to catch it so he did not see the child that had been following further behind.

Slowly the child was closing the distance to allow Micah and Cleo to be caught up in the explosion enough to allow their swift capture.

The child was trembling within the crowd as they pushed forward, they knew that they had little time left to live.

A strange event had taken place all of a sudden when the coin that was flicked up into the air had hit a sign then bounce away.

The coin had landed near a alleyway then rolled inside which had caused Micah to respond quickly. "Damn."

Losing his berries in such a small amount may not have bothered him all that much but he would much rather go after the lost coin than take out another to use as he had been doing.

His Meowth side which loves shiny things and coins also played a big part in him chasing after the coin once it had escaped from him.

His hand pulled Cleo into the alleyway and chased the rolling coin until it came to a stop then lay flat on the ground.

His hand reached towards it then there was a loud noise that came from the street that he had just stepped out of. "What the?"

There were buildings and walls that had been hit by the explosion so it did not reach both of them who had just quickly stepped out of the main path of the explosion.

Cleo released his hand and had wide eyes. "Micah.. what should we do? Should we go back to see what happened?"

Micah had picked up the coin and was lost in thought. 'Strange.. if this did not happen then both of us could have been put in danger. I know that my luck is good but I have no time to think about that now.'

He flipped the coin up into the air. 'Investigate is heads and get away from here is tails.'

The coin landed on his hand revealing tails which caused him to be filled with dread. 'It is not over yet.. more danger could be around.'

His hand tightened around the hand of Cleo as he said in a worried voice. "We should run from here quickly. We need to find Pixel or the family head as soon as possible."

Micah could not afford to take any risks by underestimating the current threat to himself and Cleo so he chose to flee.

The result of the coin flip could have been wrong but it had rarely ever been wrong before so he had to trust in it.

He had been very lucky since his birth and even the coin mark on his head made him look similar to a lucky cat so many in his family had treated him well and left many things to him when it came to making decisions.

Usually anything he bought at random or decision he made would have resulted in the family or himself gaining profits later.

Micah had later realised that the luck he possessed could be used to determine the best course of action for himself or to even go as far to help him avoid misfortune.

Since he had been saved along with Cleo, he would not push his luck by remaining when he had been shown that it would be best to leave quickly.

Electro surrounded his body and so did the same happen around Cleo as they ran down the alleyway towards another street.

Footsteps came closer towards where they had previously been and two sides had begun a confrontation after not running into Cleo and Micah.

The shadow guard had went to check if they were safe but did not find them while the slave traders had just missed them both too so the shadow guard was left to fight them off.
