Chapter 14: Chapter 14 - Space Step
As the sun rises from the east, Long Ren could feel its piercing ray on his face from his small window.
Long Ren rubbed his eyes lazily and slowly got his body up, albeit very reluctantly.
Every time he woke up, he always thought to himself about whether it was worthed to start the day now or just continue snuggling with his futon.
Usually, Long Ren would just lay on his futon for an hour or so and enjoy the fluffiness of his bed, but not today.
Today, he will finally lose his first time—killing, that is. His first blood.
What? Are you expecting him to lose his first time after such heavy exposition from the previous monologue? Dream on. There's not even a single female physically introduced yet!
Anyway, Long Ren quickly got up and washed. In this world, washing oneself is only encouraged after every training or cultivation session, but Long Ren's habits from his past life never went away.
He enjoys taking a dip in the bath at least twice a day. Especially after Xing Lao gave him a fire runestone that could act as a water heater, he took three baths that day! What a maniac.

'System, log me in, please.' Long Ren thought inside his mind while leaning on the bathtub's edges. Sometimes he slept before the daily reset, so he usually rolls while taking a bath.
After receiving his daily dose of devil quartz, Long Ren immediately rolls, hoping for this time to at least be an item from this world or something useful from Earth. Even snacks from Earth are already above-average rolls in Long Ren's book.

'Oh..?' Long Ren thought, with a bit of a surprised tone. Flood dragons are usually the offsprings of True Dragons with water-attributed creatures, at least in the novels Long Ren had read.
Since Long Ren's system doesn't have any appraisal-like capabilities, he can't quite tell whether Flood Dragons in this world are considered strong or weak, but a creature with dragon blood should at least help the tiny him cultivate right?
Especially because its attribute is space.
Long Ren took it out from his inventory and he could immediately feel the space elements fluctuating from it.
Although his affinity with water elements isn't as high as his space affinity, he had tried practicing it before and he could see a lot of them fluctuating near it as well, albeit not as much as space.
What surprised him though is that he could feel more spatial elements fluctuating near these horns than from the treasures Xing Lao provided him.
Whether it was because these horns are of higher rank, or because it is in the form of raw material, either way, it is a fine addition to his cultivation materials.
"Finally, something remotely useful…the last time I remember getting something good is 2 months ago, and that's the poc*y sticks I finished right after." Long Ren muttered happily while putting the horns into his spatial ring.
With a good roll to start the day, his mood is currently really nice.
He put his newly acquired space horns inside the treasure box Xing Lao gave him just to keep it safe and took all of the stuff he had prepared yesterday, fully kitted out to complete his first mission.
He is currently wearing a standard Star Clan cultivation robe every member got at their registration, but with a few star markings added to the edges of his robe. indicating his status as Xing Lao's disciple.
All of his money, rations, and tools are inside his storage ring, including maps, compass, and especially the camping set he had specifically asked from Xing Lao, just so he could lay his futon out in the wilderness without getting it dirty.
Priorities people!
He had stored many kinds of standard weapons inside too, weapons like shortswords, spears, katanas, etc. He still could not decide what weapon of choice would accompany him on his journey toward a serene life.
Granted, he could just go full hands-on and be fine as his body is now already way stronger than the average cultivators.
After getting fed real foods from Xing Lao, his body started restoring itself back to its previous glory.
Enhanced muscles, monstrous strength, and unstoppable growth. He is now standing at a tall 170 cm, coupled with his refined muscles, he looked more like a trained 17-year-old than a 13-year-old.
His face does still have a semblance of a baby face though, so not everything have grown out of the norm.
Anyway, his body is so strong that a casual punch from him could knock any cultivator of the same rank out cold. So, weapons aren't really needed, for now.
'Gauntlets might be nice though, heck, maybe I'll get one with 5 holes on it just for the shits and giggles.' Long Ren laughed at his own joke as he passed by the entrance gates of the clan. The same gate he passed by when he enters the sect for the first time.
Looking around, he could see several people wandering about the clan's entrance.
'Oh yeah, master did tell me this is around the time for new disciples registration. Thankfully I don't have to go through all this, or it would've been quite the hassle.' Long Ren thought to himself, thankful of his meeting with Xing Lao.
This past year has been very fun for Long Ren, even though it might seem stale and repetitive, cultivation is fun, rolling gacha is fun, training his body is also kind of fun, and finally, sleeping on the best futon ever made is the best.
Literally, the serene and peaceful life Long Ren had always wanted. But, he does still have his responsibilities, such as not disappointing the hand that fed him, ie, Xing Lao. And he would never disappoint Xing Lao. Never. He won't ever let that happen. Not this time.
After getting far enough from the crowd, Long Ren checked the map and saw Yan mountain, the location near the bandit hideout, is northwest of his position.
He confirmed his position and direction once more, and after doing so, used a side cultivation technique written inside the [Space Clickbait Manual], [Space Step]
[Space Step] is as simple as it sounds, a step that transcends space. To use it, one just needs to control the space elements at one's disposal and channel in unto one's feet, and follow the instruction written.
One step to cross several meters. It is a pretty useful ability to use while traveling on foot and could also be utilized in a battle to weave around the battlefield fast. Although it isn't as instantaneous as [Blink] abilities, it is still a very useful movement ability nonetheless.
"The wind and sun sure feel nice…Maybe I should touch more grass in the future." Long Ren softly muttered under his breath while enjoying the feeling of his hair rustling against the soft winds of nature.
