Chapter 7: The One That Filled The Void Of His Loneliness.

"I....I wasn't actually eavesdropping, I just overheard your conversation." Lin Yan said. Even though she stammered a little, she was too shock by the revelation to feel terrified of Li Lingyun at this moment.

Just before Li Lingyun could say anything, Lin Yan belly rumble, he narrowed his eyes at her and stared at belly, then he asked "Are you hungry?"

Lin Yan felt embarrassed at the sound of her belly, but even though she wanted to deny it, the truth was that she was very hungry, she haven't eaten a proper meal since yesternight. Lin Yan nodded her head and said "Yes."

Li Lingyun stared at his wife and he felt as if something has been off with her since the accident. Especially her eyes, her eyes no longer held hatred and mockery whenever she looked at him and somehow he felt she was a different person. Li Lingyun sighed and thought to himself that a cold Shen Yi was actually more easier to interact with than the Shen Yi he is staring at right now. Her eyes right now held no animosity, in fact she looked like someone who has been wrong and that look was somehow leaving a irritation in his heart. "Follow me."

"Huh?"

"Didn't you say you were hungry, follow me, I will make something for you."

In The Kitchen.

Lin Yan sat at the kitchen counter and watched as Li Lingyun cook noodles for her. Seeing Li Lingyun cook for her made Lin Yan to realize that Li Jun has never cooked for her. They usually had maids, speaking of maids, she wondered what happened to the ones she saw this morning, she looked at Li Lingyun and asked "What happened to the maids I saw this morning."

Li Lingyun stopped what he was doing and looked briefly at Lin Yan and asked "Why are asking when you already know. The maids comes in the morning and leave in the evening." He wondered why Shen Yi was acting strange but he never expected her next question "What about Li Xiao? Where is Li Xiao?" This was actually the first time Shen Yi was asking about Li Xiao. Since the day the girl was born, Shen Yi has refused to look at her, claiming that she was her mistake. She refused to even breastfeed her. It was him who did everything. It was him who took care of her, it was him who changed her diaper, who woke her in the middle of the night just to coax her to sleep. Shen Yi has never been interested in his daughter life so why was she asking about Li Xiao.

This time Li Lingyun stared at Lin Yan and Lin Yan wondered why Li Lingyun was suddenly looking at her like that. Did she perhaps asked the wrong question but what was wrong in her asking about Li Xiao? And then she remembered that Shen Yi has never cared about the well being of her daughter so of course it was strange that she was suddenly asking about Li Xiao.

Li Lingyun gazed darkened when he thought of something and said "Is playing with my daughter emotion a new strategy to get revenge on me?"

"What?"

"Why are you suddenly asking about Li Xiao? You have never cared? So why?"

Lin Yan was silent for a few seconds and then she thought since she was in Shen Yi body maybe it was an opportunity for her to give Li Xiao the mother love she has never had. She still remembered how Li Xiao wished she was her mother. She suddenly smiled and said "When I was in the accident, believe or not, I actually regretted the way I treated Li Xiao till now and I thought at that very moment that if I was given a second chance then I will be a good mother to her."

Li Lingyun was shocked not because of her words but because of the sincerity he felt from it. After his parents died he felt alone, even though he had a big family, he knew that the only one he could trust was his grandfather and his grandmother from his mother side. He knew his uncle wanted him gone because of inheritance and the only reason he became the president of the Li Corporation was actually to spite his uncle. But he has always felt empty and alone, he really didn't realize how big the void of loneliness was in his life until Li Xiao came into his life. She gave him purpose, for the first time after his parents death he felt happiness, even though people saw her as his weakness, he saw her as his strength. He married Shen Yi because he wanted his daughter to have a complete family but every time Shen Yi hurted his daughter he wanted to always kill her. But now, she said she wants to become a better mother to her. Does that mean he would no longer see tears in his daughter's eyes or could it be a strategy for her to hurt his daughter and run away with her lover.

Lin Yan wondered what Li Lingyun was thinking so deeply about and decided to say "I know it is sudden but believe me. That accident made me to regret the way I have treated Li Xiao since she was born. I want to make amends I just hope it is not too late."

Li Lingyun turned the noodles to a plate and gave it to Lin Yan, then he walked closer to her and practically invaded her space. He leaned towards her and looked directly in her eyes as he said "Ever since she was a baby, she has craved for your love and attention and even till now, she still craved it so it is not too late, however if this is one of your sick games to mess with my daughter emotions then this time I will really kill you and not even the fact of you being my daughter mother can save you after all I have been both her mother and father since she was born." He handed Lin Yan the chopstick as if he has not just threatened her and said "Go ahead and eat, after that get some rest."

Lin Yan looked at Li Lingyun back as he was leaving the kitchen and knew his words weren't just threat, this time he would really kill her.
