A young man opened his eyes to find himself floating in space. What he saw in front of him was something taking the shape of a human, but lacking the features that made someone human such as eyes, ears, or a nose. It was just a massive silhouette of a man with a large grin going across his face.
"Hello, young man. My name is Web. As of now, you are in the afterlife that I have created for all Webnovel users." the deity spoke to the young man. He was a frequent user of the Webnovel app, a place where people could post their own fanfictions and original novels, as well as read them.
"So any person who used the app comes here when they die?" the young man asked.
"Precisely. All Webnovel users are reincarnated into a story of their own." the giant god still had that massive smile on his face as he explained everything to the young man.
"Oh... so that's why almost all of the stories are reincarnation stories? I see I see. That makes sense... though I don't like reading those. They're kinda boring." the young man's words made that everlasting smile on the god's face begin to dissipate.
"What!? But they're the pinnacle of all writing!" Web almost seemed offended. He was a big fan of his website's most popular genre. There was a reason why those books gained more attention from the algorithm than those that were outside of the genre.
"I don't know..." the young man muttered. "It's boring to me. There's no real backstory. They don't have any long-lasting relationships or friends. The main characters also sometimes feel like vessels for the story rather than people."
"Some books have the main character reincarnate into a baby! Therefore, you can have a backstory with the main character that is relevant to the universe." Web spoke as if he had one-upped the young man, but the young man thought the opposite.
"Well, why make it reincarnation then? Just make it an original story that takes place in that universe. That's just adding an extra step and wasting time." after the young man said this, Web was dumbfounded.
'Damn, he's right.' Web wouldn't admit it, but the young man was right. It doesn't make a difference.
"Aha! They retain their past memories, that's what's different!" again, Web thought he outsmarted the young man.
"Well, yeah... but then it's boring because they know everything that's going to happen. Then they say stuff like 'Oh, I saw this movie so I know exactly how to beat the villain!'. It removes all tension."
Web was once again dumbfounded. "How could that be boring? That's cool!"
"For you maybe. Not for me. Can you just reincarnate me already?" the young man was growing annoyed with floating in space by that point.
"Fine, fine. Tell me the premise of your story and I'll send you right there." said Web, the Webnovel God.
"Question. So you said that it will become a real book, right? Like, on the Webnovel website?" the young man asked.
"Correct." Web answered.
"Okay. If that's the case, then I want to be reincarnated into DC, a random DC universe, not any of the movies or comics. I want to be Spider-Man in Gotham. I want to fight all of Batman's villains but as Spider-Man Noir or something. I don't want any memories or anything like that. I want it to be as if I was born as this person. I want no knowledge of being reincarnated. I want it to basically be as if it weren't a reincarnation story, but since it really is, we can technically use the tag and throw this story in the algorithm."
"Wh- are you sure? Don't you want a system or something?" Web asked.
"Ew... no." the young man answered. "Oh, and also, I want some Marvel characters to appear sometime. Surprise me. That's all. Oh! And I don't wanna be Bruce Wayne. I could be a Wayne, but like an original Wayne. I wanna be unique.
"Is that all..." Web was pretty annoyed at this point.
"Yeah, that's all."
"Alright. Have fun, I guess..." Web snapped his finger and the young man instantly disappeared, being sent to a completely different universe without any of his memories.
With this, his story would then be in the algorithm with all of the other fanfics.
I just want people to actually see my book for once
