Chapter 74: MUP: Chapter 73. One Shot

'The antique shop owner he's talking about should be me, right?'

In the antique shop, Ryan blinked as he heard Killgrave's words.

In the warehouse, Killgrave continued his monologue. Perhaps it was because of his ability, he enjoyed the feeling of being in control of everything.

"Aren't ... you afraid... he's just... going to... shoot you again... like last... time?"

Jessica pulled the corners of her stiff mouth with difficulty, revealing a mocking expression and said.

At the sound of that, Killgrave's expression suddenly sank.

The encounter in the antique shop was the closest he had ever been to death. Killgrave would still think about that from time to time.

He felt a dull pain in the wound that had already healed on his arm.

"Perhaps, I've been too kind. You forgot how I really am, Jessica." Pulling back the smile on his face, Killgrave took one step towards Jessica, who couldn't move, "I miss the old days when you had no complaints and would always listen to me."

Stopping in front of her, Killgrave looked at Jessica. He noticed the desperate and stubborn look in her eyes. The smile he had collected bloomed once more, "Yes, that's the look. That's why I've always liked you, Jessica. You are indeed a different kind of being."

As Killgrave spoke, he reached out his hand and touched Jessica's face.

However, at that moment, a crisp cracking sound rang out.

'What?!'

Killgrave turned his head in surprise and saw a guide stick coming toward him.

Killgrave raised his arm to block the attack. He covered the painful wound and looked at Matt, who could still move independently, with a shocked expression.

"That's impossible! You're moving?!"

This was the second time, the second time he had encountered someone who could resist his ability.

Knocking Killgrave back, Matt leaned on his guide stick, struggling to speak to Jessica, "Jessica, you have to get out of here while you can. I can't hold on much longer." He hadn't fully recovered from his injuries. He forced his own body to get out of Killgrave's control and fight. Matt could feel that he wouldn't last much longer.

"I'd like to go if I could, but ..."

Jessica shook her head and replied with a wry smile.

"It's better for you to go, Matt. While you can still move."

"Unfortunately, I don't think either of you can leave." Killgrave coldly said as he covered his arm, which had been injured under Matt's attack. He turned his head to Luke, who had been standing quietly behind him, "Beat him to a pulp."

Nodding his head, Luke walked over to Matt with an indifferent expression.

'Why do I feel that they forgot about me?'

Seeing that everyone was making their moves, Ryan's expression was a bit odd in the antique shop.

Perhaps, Wesley was a little too silent just now, and everyone there, including Killgrave, thought that Wesley had been under Killgrave's control.

Although, on the surface, it looked normal.

But in fact, Wesley, as a clone formed by chakra and the system's card, couldn't be controlled by Killgrave's abilities. After all, no matter which edition, comics or TV series, Purple Man's ability only worked on humans.

Looking at Matt, who was struggling to avoid Luke's attack, Killgrave's gloomy expression eased a bit. However, the result of the fight wasn't enough to satisfy the twisted guy. He looked up and saw the figure in white, who had been standing there, motionless, since a while ago.

Hooking the corners of his mouth, he ordered, "Shoot him and break his legs."

Nodding his head, Wesley took out his weapon.

"Don't! Matt!"

Unable to move, Jessica anxiously shouted to warn Matt, who was gradually corned by Luke.

Bang --

In the antique shop, Ryan controlled Wesley's movements.

With a loud 'bang!', Luke, who had been violently attacking Matt, stopped moving. His face looked somewhat blank.

Killgrave was still standing there, with a look of disbelief on his face. His eyes were fixed on the muzzle of the gun in Wesley's hand.

A clear bullet wound was visible on his forehead.

  ...

Without Killgrave to sustain it, the people in the warehouse quickly recovered from mind control.

"What's wrong with me? What the hell happened?"

Luke shook his head and looked at the somewhat unfamiliar environment in front of him. The last thing he remembered was the moment he left Claire's apartment a few days ago.

"You were under mind control."

Matt replied, gasping for breath and leaning on his guide stick.

"Mind control? Who was it? The last thing I remember is ... a guy wearing a purple tie..." Holding his aching head, Luke gradually sorted out his thoughts. Then, he looked up at Matt, who was in a bit of a mess. "Where is he?"

"If you mean the guy who was controlling you, he's right over there."

Matt raised his hand and pointed to Killgrave's body.

"Wesley did it."

Everyone broke free from mind control.

Jessica staggered and stood firm. She then looked at Killgrave, who Wesley had shot in the head, and a complicated look of shock mixed with relief appeared on her face.

She looked down at the body, then at Wesley, who was silently holstering his gun.

"How did you..."

"He can't control me."

Naturally, Ryan wouldn't tell Jessica the specific reason.

However, he didn't need to tell her the truth. Giving her a vague answer, he left the rest to Jessica's imagination.

"Could it be, the Brotherhood...? "

Sure enough, hearing Wesley's response, Jessica automatically connected it to The Brotherhood. Because Ryan was in the antique shop, Killgrave's ability couldn't reach him. Wesley, as a member of the Brotherhood, obviously would have the ability.

At this point, Jessica started to feel glad that she had asked Ryan to contact The Brotherhood.

If it weren't for that, perhaps the scene in the warehouse would be different right now.
