Chapter 134: Chapter 133. Sacrifice

In the antique shop, Ryan watched as Spider-Man twitched from the electricity.

It felt like, if nothing else was done, this friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man, would really turn into a dead bug, as the Daily Bugle said. Raising an eyebrow, he whirled around and controlled Venom, who was hanging from a wall. With a double stomp, it left two deep cracks in the wall and lunged towards the roof with his teeth bared.

Noticing the loud noise from Venom, the Green Goblin stopped moving his hands and controlled his glider to pull upwards, dodging Venom's attack.

"Are you trying to save Spider-Man?"

Looking up at the hissing Venom on the roof, Norman controlled the glider to hover over it.

"I don't like burnt food."

Glancing down at the small, smoking, twitching spider, Venom hissed back.

Fortunately, because of the electric current, Peter's mind went blank; otherwise, he would have been quite speechless if he had heard Venom's reply.

The reason why it intervened was that it was afraid that he would taste bad.

"It doesn't matter, Spider-Man isn't much of a threat now anyway." As a super-soldier serum recipient, Norman was well aware of the extraordinary nature of super-humans, so he deliberately increased the electrical current intensity so that even a variant such as Spider-Man wouldn't be able to escape from the electric shock for a while.

"Perfect timing, I can catch you without any meddling."

As Norman spoke, he controlled the Green Goblin glider under his feet and shot a fierce jet of flame toward Venom. Norman Osborn didn't only modify his Green Goblin armour to be able to capture Venom. He also added a flame-throwing function to his glider.

Facing Norman's flames, Venom's movements started to falter. Although it continued to bare its sharp teeth in a menacing way, there was a clear sense of desperation.

Obviously, the flames were just a little too much of a challenge, as one of Venom's weaknesses.

"Hmm."

On this side, Venom couldn't launch a successful attack because of Norman's flames and was left with no room for manoeuvre.

On the other hand, the little spider trapped in the web shook his head. The consciousness that had been blurred by the powerful surge of electricity started to return gradually.

Obviously, Norman miscalculated. Peter's recovery ability was a little stronger than he had expected.

The ability acquired after being bitten by a radioactive spider was clearly more fortuitous and powerful than that of Norman's super soldier serum's results.

Struggling to open his eyes, Peter saw Venom being suppressed by Green Goblin through his blurred vision.

'I must, must... help Mr Brock ...'

The idea flashed through his mind. The little spider raised his wrist, aimed it at the Green Goblin in the air, and pressed the spider web launcher in his palm.

Click, click --

However, because of the electric current, the spider web launcher on his wrist seemed to have malfunctioned. He couldn't properly launch the spider web.

"Hurry up! Come on, come on! Shoot!"

Constantly pressing the button on the palm of his hand, under the mask, Peter's expression looked desperate.

Bang --

In the end, whether it was Peter's heartfelt pleading that moved the gods or the fact that the spider web launcher wasn't badly damaged by the electric current, with a soft bang, the sticky web shot out of the launcher and clung precisely onto Green Goblin.

"What?!"

Caught off guard by the spider web, Norman's expression changed, and the glider he was riding on started to wobble and flail in mid-air.

Without the threat of flames, Venom seized the opportunity. With a sudden leap and a swing of its huge arm, it slapped Norman, who was standing on his glider, down.

Bang --

With a heavy blow, Norman dragged a long gash on the floor of the roof and repeatedly rolled, throwing off the demon helmet he wore on his head and revealing his twisted face.

"Norman Osborn!"

Trapped in the net, Peter saw the familiar face beneath the demonic helmet, and a look of shock crossed his face.

He was no stranger to Norman Osborn and had even met him several times before when he was introduced to him by his friend Harry. But as far as Spidey could remember, Mr Osborn was a solemn and friendly man who he would never have expected to be the 'Green Goblin', the man who was rampaging through New York and was determined to kill him.

Norman stood up from the roof. Venom was strong, but it didn't do much damage to his Green Goblin armour or his super soldier serum-transformed body. Stretching out his only movable arm and pulling a cylindrical object from the back of his armour, Norman flicked a switch and sharp green blades ejected from the ends of the cylinder.

Using the blade to cut through the spider webs stuck to his body, Norman pulled his arms free from their bonds and stared at Venom with malice.

"It looks like it's going to take a bit more effort."

As soon as the words were out of his mouth, Norman wielded his Green Goblin blade and charged toward Venom.

The sharp blade in his hand slashed through Venom's chest. In the next second, the separated black liquid was entwined back together.

Swinging its claws, Venom's sharp fingers left a trail of mangled claw marks on Norman's Green Goblin armour.

Raising his arm to block Venom's onslaught once more, Norman staggered to his feet. The expression on Norman's face was unmistakably grim.

Without the threat of fire, Venom's combat strength was tougher than he had thought.

'Maybe I should ...'

With a slight gasp, Norman started to think of retreating.

However, in the next second, Green Goblin's twisted personality reappeared in his brain, directly overwhelming his sanity.

"Since there's no way to catch you, I'll just have to kill you."

With a sharp roar coming out of his mouth, Green Goblin pulled out a powerful mini-bomb from his armour, flicked the switch and threw it towards Venom.

Looking at the incoming mini-bomb, Venom didn't dodge. Part of the symbiote on its body expanded into a giant spider web, and the bomb bounced right back.

"What!"

Norman's expression instantly contorted at the sight of the returning bomb.

Bang!!!

With a deafening noise, the glass of the nearby high-rise shattered from the aftershock, and Spider-Man, who was trapped in the net, was pushed halfway across the building.

Looking at the flames and explosions in front of them, Venom thought that there was no way Green Goblin could have survived such a powerful explosion. It then turned to the little spider, reached out, and pulled Peter out of the net. It opened its mouth to reveal its dense, sharp teeth.

At this moment, Peter couldn't muster any strength in his body. He was looking into Venom's deep, bottomless mouth and couldn't help but shout, "I just saved you!"

After shouting, Peter couldn't help but close his eyes with a resigned expression on his face.

After a few seconds had passed and the predicted scene of death didn't occur. Spidey slightly opened its eyes and saw that Venom had somehow changed half of its face into Eddie Brock's.

"Mr Brock?"

"Yeah, it's me, Spider-Man. Call me Eddie."

Eddie, whose face is half Venom, gently nodded.

"Great, Mr Brock, uhm ... Eddie, you can control Venom?"

"I can't." Shaking his head, Eddie replied, "Venom let me out for now because you saved it."

"Is that so."

Hearing Eddie's words, the little spider was relieved that he had decided to make that move. Otherwise, he would have been in Venom's belly by now.

"Ahahahaha..."

However, before Peter could relax, from the other side of the roof, the piercing presence of the Green Goblin suddenly emerged from the centre of the explosion. In the next moment, they saw the Green Goblin stagger and stand back up.

Norman wasn't looking too good at the moment. The blast was so close that even the Green Goblin armour couldn't counter the impact of the blast. His hair was burnt to a crisp, and the skin on his face was as charred as an evil demon, so he didn't look like his old self.

If it weren't for the tenacious vitality from the serum, Norman might have died from the explosion. Of course, even though he wasn't dead yet, he was pretty close to it.

Holding on to his own body, Norman could feel the depleting vitality in his body. The pain from his face continued to agitate his mind, and with one remaining eye, he looked at Venom and Spider-Man. Norman let out a sharp, harsh laugh and whipped out all the bombs he had on him, "Since I'll die, you're all going to die with me!"

Norman had more than one or two bombs on him. The destruction caused by so many bombs exploding in quick succession would be horrific.

There was no time to escape, but in the next second, the impact and the flames of the explosion flooded toward Venom. The symbiote twisted and wailed miserably against the flames.

"Sorry, Spider-Man."

Turning back, glancing at the fire behind him, the half-human half-Venom faced, Eddie, glanced down at the little spider he was holding. With a wry smile, he suddenly waved his arm and threw Peter out.

"Eddie!!"

In mid-air, the little spider stretched out its arm trying to grasp the guy.

In the end, all he could witness was the sight of Eddie drowning in flames.
