Chapter 265: Chapter 263. Davy Jones

"What's the situation?"

"It's unclear. He suffered heavy injuries, especially to his head from the impact of a close-range explosion. Although we've been trying to revive him, he hasn't regained consciousness..."

"Huff, huff, huff, huff~"

In a daze, Brock Rumlow heard indistinct voices talking by his ear. He opened his eyes, and his confused consciousness began to return.

"Director, he's awake!" Natasha noticed Rumlow's situation on the hospital bed and quickly reminded Fury, who was next to her.

"The patient's physical condition is generally stable, but it's better to avoid prolonged conversations. The patient needs rest." The doctor in charge approached and did some basic physical examinations on Rumlow. The responsible doctor lowered his head and muttered something under his breath, then turned to the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. behind him and said so.

Noticing the doctor's mouth movements, Rumlow's originally dazed consciousness immediately shook, apparently indicating that the doctor was also a member of Hydra.

"Thank you."

Unclear about what had happened under his nose, Nick Fury watched the doctor leave before turning to Rumlow, who had just awakened on the hospital bed.

"Tell me, agent, what did you encounter after boarding the ship?"

"What about the other members of the team?" Rumlow instinctively replied with a question.

"...."

"Alright, I understand."

Although Nick Fury didn't give a direct answer, his reaction had told him everything.

After bowing his head in silence for a moment, Rumlow raised his head and touched at his scarred face, recalling and saying, "After boarding the ship, we..."

.....

"Front deck, all clear!"

"Deck, all clear!"

"... all clear!"

On the surface, they were all members of the SHIELD's Rapid Response team, but in reality, they were all Hydra operatives infiltrating SHILED. Of course, regardless of their allegiance, their abilities were not to be underestimated. After all, both SHILED and Hydra were special organizations that didn't tolerate slackers.

The members of the tactical squad searched the ship, but surprisingly, they found nothing.

Furrowing his brow, Rumlow didn't let his guard down despite the lack of results from the search. Instead, he directed his team to conduct an even more thorough search.

"Captain, we have something!"

Sure enough, during the subsequent search, the team discovered a secret entrance on the ship. The entrance didn't seem deep, likely leading to an inner deck of the ship, but it was pitch black inside. Upon opening the door, a strong stench of fish hit them, causing even the well-trained members of the special team to wrinkle their noses and look nauseous.

"..."

Suppressing their urge to vomit, two members of the team raised their guns without hesitation and prepared to enter the inner deck through the secret entrance.

Creak, creak.

However, before they could take a step inside, the sound of footsteps came from the entrance.

At the sound of the footsteps, the members of the team instinctively raised their firearms.

Holding his breath, Rumlow stared fixedly at the dark entrance in front of him. Although he had known since receiving the order to board the ship that this mission was full of danger, his pupils still involuntarily contracted at the moment he saw the face in the shadows from the entrance.

At the same time, he subconsciously pulled the trigger.

Bang, bang—

Bullets sprayed out in a beautiful blaze. Along with Brock Rumlow's gunfire, the other members of the team pulled their submachine gun triggers. A large number of bullets struck the tall figure in the shadows with precision. Yet, to everyone's surprise, the bullets didn't have the intended effect.

With a sharp scream from its mouth, two thin tentacles, like octopus arms, shot out of the figure's face from the shadows. They moved so quickly that the two members in front had no time to dodge and were entangled around their necks. The force transmitted from the tentacles was so shocking that it instantly changed the color of their faces.

"Shoot, shoot!"

Seeing this, Rumlow quickly aimed his submachine gun at the shadow and shouted loudly.

Waving its tentacles, the two entangled members of the special forces were swung around like toys. Faced with such terrifying power, the fragile necks of the two members couldn't bear the damage, and they didn't even have time to scream before they were each twisted into a distorted shape, and left lifeless.

"Damn it!"

Watching two elite soldiers under his command killed so easily, Rumlow cursed, but he wouldn't dare to stop his movements. However, these firearms and bullets, which had tremendous power in the eyes of ordinary people, were obviously useless in this mission.

Bang, bang--

The tall figure released the tentacles, throwing the two corpses on the deck, before stepping out of the shadows.

"!!!"

Although he had seen a blurry figure in the shadows before, seeing the opponent's appearance so clearly on deck, Rumlow couldn't help but reveal his shock.

The figure maintained a human-like size, dressed in a retro outfit that only a medieval ship captain would wear, but the face was unmistakably that of an octopus, with wriggling tentacles that seemed alive.

The appearance of the figure on the ship clearly exceeded the expectations of Rumlow and his team. Even though they had encountered extraterrestrial troops during the Battle of New York, seeing this monster that resembled a sea creature still caused them to feel an involuntary sense of panic.

"Welcome aboard the Flying Dutchman, gentlemen. It's been too long since I've had any visitors."

Amidst the panic, the monster on the other side stopped its own footsteps, removed its captain's hat covered in corals, and revealed its eerie deep brown head, resembling an octopus. "I am the captain of this ship, Davy Jones."

He nodded in greeting before putting the hat back on, and his tiny eyes scanned the group before him, "Alright, greetings done, it's time for plundering. As guests aboard the 'Flying Dutchman,' you're quite lucky, I'll bestow upon you eternal life in exchange for working for me forever!"

As Davy Jones finished speaking, a large number of tentacles once again shot out from his face.

Without hesitation, Rumlow shouted to the remaining members of the team, "Fire!"
