Chapter 299: Chapter 297. Mutation (Part1)

"Nice new hairstyle."

Ben commented as he stretched his stiff body and appeared in the laboratory, watching Reed immersed in his research with his gray temples. He couldn't help but raise an eyebrow and tease him.

"Hey, Ben, you finally woke up."

Reed turned around and saw his friend, who had just regained consciousness. He immediately placed the documents in his hand and happily embraced him.

"You've been unconscious for 3 days, and I've been worried about you."

During the cosmic storm, Ben was performing a task outside the space station, and everyone thought he would die.

"How are you feeling, Ben? Is there anything uncomfortable in your body?"

"Solid." Ben shrugged. Although he had been unconscious for several days, he didn't feel any discomfort.

"But that was really a close one, wasn't it?"

Ben recalled the situation at the space station, and even though he hadn't been injured, he still felt a bit shocked, "What was that about?"

"I don't know." Reed shook his head in silence. Even Reed couldn't explain what had happened at the space station despite checking the data over and over again. "I really don't know. I've been reviewing the figures repeatedly, and they all add up... I just don't understand. Maybe I should have aborted sooner ..."

"Reed."

Sensing Reed's guilty tone, Ben immediately interrupted his next words, "This is a freak of nature, you couldn't have possibly predicted it. At least we all survived, let it go."

After persuading his friend with a few words, Ben immediately brought the topic to the meteorite in the center of the laboratory.

"So, this is the meteorite you brought back from outer space?"

"Actually, it was brought by the cosmic storm."

Ben's words successfully diverted Reed's attention. Looking at the strange-shaped meteorite in front of him, Reed's tone turned excited, "I've conducted a preliminary scan of the internal structure of this meteorite and found a lot of interesting things. Perhaps it's due to the composition of the meteorite itself, or maybe it's because of the cosmic storm. In any case, this meteorite isn't ordinary."

"I was planning to continue my research on this meteorite, but Victor won't allow it."

At this point, Reed's expression was somewhat helpless.

He was very interested in the meteorite, but Victor obviously had other plans.

Taking his gaze away from the meteorite brought back from outer space, Ben looked at Reed, who was still focused on research, and couldn't help but say, "Reed, although as a friend, I shouldn't say these things, after going through all that, I think there are some things in life that are more important than work or research."

"What are you talking about?"

Reed looked at the meteorite in front of him, a little confused.

Shaking his head helplessly, Ben continued, "I mean, you should go find a girlfriend."

"Come on, Ben, you know I don't have any thoughts of forming a relationship right now."

"Do you really have no thoughts, or you just haven't forgotten Sue?"

Ben's words caused a slight change in Reed's expression, but he quickly held back and shook his head in response: "Come on, Ben. She's got a good thing going on with Victor. She ended up with the right guy, things worked out for the best."

...

"I have to do something about this scar."

Victor frowned as he looked at the small scar on his temple in the mirror.

"Actually, the scar is tracking well."

His secretary interjected, revealing the latest traffic, "People seem to think it humanizes you, and it also makes them sympathetic to your experiences in outer space."

"Heh, and that's a good thing?"

Victor coldly retorted, adjusting his appearance in front of the mirror.

"How's the I.P.O now?"

"It's falling, and the impact of the space accident is still showing. The previous alien invasion has made everyone particularly concerned about events in outer space."

The secretary's report caused Victor's expression to turn even colder, "What about the meteorite?"

"Unfortunately, Sir, they don't have much confidence in the meteorite you brought back from outer space. They don't think it has much value." The secretary shook his head.

"Haven't they read Reed's research report?"

Although the previous space accident had severely damaged Victor's reputation and caused him significant losses, he had to admit that Reed was a smart guy. Therefore, he also had great confidence in Reed's research report on the meteorite.

Frowning, this result was somewhat unacceptable to Victor. "This's obviously not an ordinary meteorite."

"But it is still a meteorite, Sir."

The secretary calmly replied.

"The meteorite is not Tony Stark's Iron Man suit. Attracting investments with it is challenging."

"Tony Stark..."

Victor muttered to himself when he heard the secretary's words. Even among the many billionaires, Tony Stark was still a particularly special one, especially after he became a superhero and a member of the Avengers, saving New York.

"In any case, keep trying to reach out. I believe someone will eventually be interested in this meteorite."

Shaking his head and pulling his thoughts back, Victor gave instructions to the secretary.

Turning around, Victor's finger accidentally touched the pen on the table, and a faint electric current suddenly emerged from his fingertips.

"Sir?"

Seeing Victor suddenly fall silent, the secretary couldn't help but call out.

"It's nothing."

Victor replied nonchalantly, looking at his palm.
