Chapter 1: Desperate times, Overkill Measures

*/ NARRATOR's POV /*

A visible translucent dome can be seen in the distance, with what seemed like teenagers on the outside perimeter of the dome.

"Buchou! We won't be able to hold it much longer! None of us have enough reserves to maintain a barrier of this size for much longer. Also the fighting is not helping as we have to repair the cracks in the barrier."

"Saji! Shut up and keep at it, Rias's peerage is the one who has to fight a Cadre himself and his army, what we are doing doesn't really match up to that." said the brunette.

That shut up the blonde, and gave him a somewhat competitive motivational boost in order to try harder.

But that didn't mean Sona didn't agree with what he said, she looked around to see her peerage sweating profusely, but she gritted her teeth and continued supplying magic power in order to maintain the barrier.

This barrier was the only thing standing between Kuoh and its annihilation.

Inside the barrier was elf-like man sitting on a pompously on a black throne, apparently floating up in the sky. His head was resting on his hand and looked amused at the people fighting against a huge 3-headed Dog.

Just dreaming of the blood and carnage that would come forth as his plan, which looked as if it would be successful at any moment now, was making his big-boy panties wet.

He thought of how the strongest of the devil race would react once they know that their precious sisters were murdered in cold blood, the flimsy little ceasefire would end that very second and a new age of war would come forth, and during that he will have the perfect chance to prove the superiority of the race of Fallen Angels. He and his brothers and sisters would stand at the zenith of the 3 Biblical races.

Oh the GLORY!!!

'Yes! Now is the time! I will end these insects, and claim the glory for the fallen myself!' the Fallen thought excitedly.

He stood up from his throne and looked around the school sports field which looked more like a battlefield at this point with all the craters and cracks the ground was affected by due to release of lethal force during the past minutes of battle which had ensued.

Then, from the ground to his left, a teenage girl screamed his name "Kokabiel!", which garnered his attention. Looking at the source of the shout, it was a beautiful girl, and would be considered so even by the standards of the supernatural. The girl had crimson red hair which reached all the way to her thighs, which was arguably the most eye catching feature of the red head. She had smooth white skin and bluish green eyes, which were currently glaring daggers at the now named, Kokabiel.

Now that she had his attention, she continued "Kokabiel, HOW DARE YOU HURT MY CUTE SERVANTS! Do you realise the consequences of your actions?! My brother will have your head for this!"

This sentence in particular brought a smile to his face, not a sweet one, but one of fanaticism, and the words that followed confused the redheaded girl "I am counting on it."

"What? what do yo--" she was cut off before she could say anymore as Kokabiel decided to humour the little girl in front of him.

For him she was a little girl, mostly any other man would probably head over heels over her beauty, but he wasn't just anybody. He was a hundreads of years old Cadre of the Fallen Angels who fought in the Ancient great war between the 3 biblical faction and

survived it, where not even the 4 satans could survive. In layman's terms he was a living legend among the supernatural. He had lead Fallen Angels for hundreds of years and held a substantial amount of influence both outside and inside the Fallen Angels

faction. He had seen quite a few beauties in his long lifespan and the girl in front of him wasn't any exception but that wasn't the reason he didn't have any lust for her, the reason was that he was already in love with someone, or rather something else.

WAR! Conflict was his maiden. He lusted deeply for chaos that war provided him with. There was no greater maiden who could pull the strings of his heart like conflict, so it was a no-brainer that he had zero interest in teenage girl in front, he couldn't

help but look past her and see his lady calling to him, all he needed to unite with his lady was to sacrifice the lives of two little Devil girls and they would once more be together. Wasn't this price just trivial when compared to the value of the

one he would get back? Yes! there was no need for delaying anymore, he lady was right there, so close.

"Rias Gremory, do not think too much on it, you are nothing to me. The only intrinsic value you hold, or rather will hold would be in death. Once the news of your and your fellow Heiress' death reaches to your siblings, what do you think will happen? IT WILL BE ALL OUT WAR! The nerve of Azazel to pull out of the war when both the Underworld and Heaven were weakened! With all the 4 Maou and God dead, Fallen were guranteed to win, and maintain our dominance and become the most prominent race in the 3 factions.

But its fine now, your death will be the catalyst I need to prove supremity of the fallen, nothing will stand in my way this time!"

There was sommething he said in his small speech that got attention of multiple people currently fighting on the battefield, even his own men looked incredulously at him.

A voice squeaked from the ground below him "What did you just say?" slightly in disbelieve.

"What? That fallen would have won the great war considering the 4 maou and God are dead, I mean, it must be hard on Michael maintaining heaven by himself. He is somehow keeping heaven afloat, but I am not sure if it would go on for long." said Kokabiel in

a tone as if stating the obvious.

The voice that had asked the question was a blue haired beauty who was currently doning church's Exorcist clothing. Though it did make Kokabiel think which church in their right mind would allow their enforcers to wear a uniform which looked more like a

stripper outfit, but then again, why should he care.

"YOU LIE! How dare you slander the name of the holy one who created you!" said the blue haired exorcist almost growling.

"It isn't slandering if it is the Truth. Go ask your higher ups if you don't believe me. But enough of this timepass, now, lets get on with it!" said the Fallen Cadre, followed by a maniacal Laugh.

To the side, on the ground was a teenage boy wearing a school uniform which had a lot of patches missing or burnt, he was struggling to get up as he had spent a lot of energy fighting Kokabiel which was to no effect, and even his army, which he was able to defeat

a minor chunk of. He wasn't grieviously injured but still losing all strength due to using his sacred gear to his current limit had caused this situation.

"Partner! The fight is not over! If you don't get up now, the red head is going to kick the bucket in a few moments! Get Up!" said a Red Gauntlet on the arm of the boy adorned by a green gem on the back of the palm urging his user to get up and fight.

Listening to his partner, the boy put both his hands under him and put in all his will and power to get up. He screamed due to his muscles tearing up after being pushed to the limit, but got up none the less.

As he got up, he looked up to see the most horror inducing scene.

*/ ISSEI POV /*

I got up with all the willpower I could muster, as I pushed the pain to the back of my head to concentrate on the situation at hand, I looked up and my throat went dry.

Kokabiel was flying up with his 10-wings on full display, and was readying the largest Light Spear I had seen from him in the fight we have had up until now. B-But that wasn't problem, in fact if he was aiming it at me, I would still try my best to defend

somehow, but he was pointing it at Rias!

'no... No....NONONONONONO!!! You bastard! Leave her out of this! I have to save her! RIAS!!!!!!!' I screamed in my mind.

"koka- *cough* *cough* *cough*" I tried to get his attention but my throat was lacking enough fluids to scream at him, most probably due to overuse of the Boosted Gear.

'I CAN'T GIVE UP!' I thought, and I wheezed whatever I could and started limping towards Rias' direction.

"kokabiel! Stop! Don't you dare hurt her!" I wheezed at him, but due to the supernatural hearing which I am sure he has, he was able to pickup my voice, and so was Rias able to do the same, which made both of them look towards me.

Rias had a relieved look seeing me, up and about, Hah! she cares so much for me. But then when I looked at Kokabiel, he just granted me what I was dreading the most... An evil smirk.

With that smirk, he threw down his light spear he had prepared... time slowed down for me,

I failed...I failed my master, I failed Maou Sirzechs, I promised him that I would keep his sister safe, I failed Grayfia, I promised her that I will give my life for Rias if it was needed, Even if I try my hardest for boosted to suck my life out and let me be her shield, I don't have enough time to power up, and Rias, how would I explain it to her that I was weak, If a light spear that big pierces her, she would bleed out before we can get her Pheonix Tears, and even if we do, the light element would corrode her organs, and she would die.

B-But why is she still smiling towards me...'

My fellow peerage members noticed that something was wrong and looked at our master, then looked at Kokabiel holding the lightspear, for people like Koneko, the rook of our peerage, and Kiba, the knight of our peerage, who were skilled in fighting, looked at

our master and noticed her guard was down, had she given up? They left whoever they were fighting and ran towards Rias. But it was in vain.

No..I can't look at that smile... telling me that everything will be okay...No it won't be...it won't be okay. The LightSpear went towards her torso tearing through the air, my body involuntarily closed my eyes, I couldn't muster the courage to look at her

and waited for her scream to fill my mind, but it never came, neither the squealching noise of a lightspear imbeding itself into the body of its target.

I looked up and I am very much sure, it was a scene I would never forget for my entire life. There stood my master with a most surprised expression I have ever seen her face produce, everyone had stopped fighting and was looking in Rias' direction

but not at Rias specifically, but in front of her.

It was a... Soldier, I guess, he was wearing Red uniform with folded sleeves, and gloves which looked very sturdy, his chest was full weapon cartridges, with a, if I am not wrong, a revolver on his waist, and grenades of different types on his chest and belt

and something weird strapped to his belt on his butt, it had two exhaust like vents on it.

But the most eye catching thing about was his head or rather the helmet on him, it had weird pattern on his helmet which was glowing blue, which I am thinking is how he sees through. There was nothing to signify where he...if he was a he... came from, but then

Image :

I looked at the ground he was standing on and noticed that it was burnt in the pattern of magic circle quite different from what Rias and other devils use.

But the surprises weren't ending there, he was standing straight, looking at the light spear in his hand, which he caught mid-flight, which was also about 6 or 7 times his own size, the power enough to level a province, and this guy was just holding it casually.

He then took his eyes off, I mean the direction his helmet was looking in and looked around at the people around him, he noticed the army of fallen, a source of massive holy energy coming from the other side of the field where Kiba was, but I couldn't

help but imagine he was.... disappointed? Then he looked at Kokabiel in the air, Kokabiel was at first surprised, then I saw his expression change to realization and instantly went into confounded horror. This was not lost on anyone... Why was Kokabiel suddenly

so scared, then he looked in my direction, and the hair on my back were raised with intensity.

My eyes widened and a shiver ran down my body. At the very same moment, Draig's voice was heard and he addressed me "Partner, Don't take another step if you want to live, and do not open your mouth for any reason."

My eyes went to my left arm, and wanted to question him but then I suddenly felt my magic power being drained by my gear and everything went dark.

"Wha---" is all that came out of my mouth as I fell to the ground.

*/ RIAS POV /*

I saw Kokabiel prepare his Lightspear, and the feeling of defeat welled up infront of me. Up until now he has been playing with us, and nobody was able to even scratch him, and now he has deemed that the only value I have is in death, he is prepared to kill me and

then later Sona as well, I shouldn't have been stubborn and told my brother about the fallen activity, although Akeno has already called for my brother, I think him getting here from in between those old geezers would not be possible, at least not in time.

'I guess this is it for me, it is time for pay for the mistakes I made... But I don't want to die... Its so scary... But if he kills me, then he would let my cute servants go right? right? Then Issei will also survive, he is so much more stronger than me

he would be a lot more useful to the peerage than me... maybe it would be okay for him to take my peerage after me... There he is... he can walk...I am relieved.'

I smile at him reassuringly, I know that my death can cause the war, and if Kokabiel has anything to do with it, it probably will, but I am sure, in time, everything will be alright! so rest assured Issei, I will always watch over you, perversion and all.

'I really wish that I could live to see the day you succeed in your dreams' I thought as I waited for the pain to begin.

"huh?" nothing happened? But wasn't it a lightspear? Shouldn't it burn me? I looked back at my front and there was someone standing there. He looked like a... like a human soldier.

He was looking at the lightspear he caught... WAIT A MINUTE! HE CAUGHT A LIGHTSPEAR THROWN BY A CADRE WITH ONE HAND AND DIDN'T EVEN MOVE! Then he looked around a little obeserving the people around, something peculiar that I noticed was that when he looked at

Kokabiel, Kokabiel looked... scared...no...horrified would be the right word. He then looked at Issei who had stopped and was looking at the man standing infront of me, hell, everyone was looking at him.

Then i heard Draig's voice saying "Partner, Don't take another step if you want to live, and do not open your mouth for any reason." and then Issei collapsed on the ground, I wanted to panic and run to him, but the man in front of me was a priority right now.

Then he turned around and squeeezed his fist shattering the the lightspear with ease, as if he was handling a peeled banana. He looked at me and sized me up by looking at me from head to toe. I checked in this instance to confirm, but it yielded the same result

as my intuition, the man infront of me was human, but there was something off which I couldn't really put my finger on.

He took a step towards me ignoring the war-like situation we were in, and I instinctively took a step back, but tripped my own leg and fell. He looked at me fall, then got down on one knee, and asked "Are you my master?"

"HUH?" is all I could say.

But now people had started coming out of there daze and started to get aquainted with the situation. One of the Fallen Angels who was a part of Kokabiel's Army took a step forward shouting grabbing everyone's attention including mine "Who the hel--"

*BANG*

As everyone looking at him we noticed the hole between his eyes, he took another step, which was his last and his lifeless body fell to the floor just like that. My eyes made back to the man in front of me, who was now holstering a smoking revolver back into

its holster.

"Now then, I ask again. Are you my master?" asked the futuristic looking soldier.

I finally found my voice "I am not sure what you mean..."

He then sighed deeply, then moved his hands towards me, I tensed up, unsure of what he was doing but he grabs my hands and starts to look on the back of them, seemingly searching for something.

"Huh, thats weird, you should have the seals, I can feel the connection, but the seals are not there? This doesn't usually happen." said the man who just killed a 6-winged Fallen without even batting an eye.

He then moved down to my legs and used his gloved hands to scan across them. We are in the middle of a battlefield and this man is MOLESTING ME?!!! but that didn't mean I was going to stop him, Kokabiel hasn't even tried moving, also Issei's Gauntlet did

give the warning of not speaking or moving, so I kept quiet.

"Not the legs then? Then where the fuck are the seals?! Hold on..." said the soldier as if he noticed something.

He then bought his hands down to my collar, then started opening the buttons of my shirt, I was appalled! This guy! How dare he! I started to put magic into my hands to start creating an orb of my Power of destruction...

"Found them..." said the slightly robotic sounding soldier with the glowing helmet.

I looked down towards my chest only to find a red tribal tattoo, present over the cleavage of my breast overlapping my right breast. I was shocked to see something like this on my body.

"Wha....what is this?" I asked him in a panic.

"So you are my master. Very well master, what would you have me do right now?" asked the man standing up from his knees and extending his hand for me to use as support to get up.

I had a myriad of questions, like who he was, why was he calling me master, why did he just expose my chest in front of so many people, what is the tattoo on my cleavage, but right now, I had a choice to make. Do I take that hand or not.

He was someone whose origins were unclear, other than knowing that he was summoned by a magic circle which she had never seen in her life, there was nothing else she could gleam from him. But something inside her was telling her, that it would okay.

She chose to take the hand infront of her, and was promptly pulled up. She stood up and noticed he was atleast a head taller than her, his glowing patterned helmet looking intently at her, he still had her hand in his. He asked again

"Master, what do you wish for me to do?" he asked me.

"I---- I require your help in defeating these fallen." I don't know what made me say that, but I had feeling that it was only right that I ask this of him.

"Very well, Master." was his reply.

He took out a dagger from a chest pocket, which looked fairly simple and well... mundane. He then took one step towards the army, and to my utter surprise I heard the most number gulps I have ever heard at single moment.

My eyes were threatening to pop out of my sockets, a single human was planning to run into a army of fallen, there was no hesitation in his step, just complete and utter dominanace in every step.

I tried calling out to him, I thought we would attack together, but he just went ahead on his own? a human can't contend with that many fallen, especially considering how many high ranking fallen were present.

As soon as that thought passed through my head, he started attacking the army. His dagger piercing and slashing through the fallen, using their bodies as shields, any lightspears that would come his way, would be used against the enemy themselves,

and 10 minutes later when the dust settled, he stood there, not even breathing heavily, his Uniform soaked in Fallen blood, his dragger dripping with the same, I had never seen such a fighting style before, He didn't care about the maintaining or

creating any distance between him or his opponents, he used whatever he could get his hands on, as a weapon, and the most frightening part was his movements, the slashes or grabs that he engaged were not even visible to me, but one thing I was sure

about was that evry single movement that he made was without a flaw, no openings were given to the enemy to take advantage of, later, a few thousand strong Fallen Army was reduced to just 1, Kokabiel standing.

My entire peerage and me were gawking at the site, was this man really human? It not possible for a human to that, is it? But then, I already did check and he was a 100 percent human.

Kokabiel finally made the decision to open his mouth but his words only left more questions "Why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be dead?" said the 10-Winged Fallen Leader with a Exasperated, boderline Horrified expression and tone.

In turn, all he got was silence, the soldier just looked up at him. Feeling panicked and enraged, Kokabiel threw a very large lightspear towards the soldier, only for him to phase out of existence.

I then heard squelching sounds and looked at the source. It was Kokabiel with a dagger coming out of his throat and the soldier holding the handle of the said dagger.

Kokabiel chose not to say anything in his final moments, as the soldier pulled out his dagger and let the Cadre's body fall down to ground. He fell down as well, only for the weird gadget on his butt to realease thrust and slow his fall.

He then took out a cloth from one of his bazillion pockets and cleaned his knife before keeping it back in the place it was in previously.

He then looked back at me, then started walking towards me, I didn't move from my spot, I doubted running would help me much.

As he stood in front of me, "Master, the mission has been upheld and completed." in a monotone, he reported to me, no signs of remorse or emotional turmoil after killing thousands of Fallen.

"Who are you?" I asked, intent on getting an answer.

"I---" he stopped as he was going to start and looked towards his right towards the sky. I followed his gaze but didn't see anything other than the barrier. But in the very next moment, the barrier shattered and a white light descended.

It was a humanoid suit of white armor with ethereal blue wings, he descended. He looked around at the sea of corpses, not shaken, just disappointed for some reason.

At that moment, his eyes locked onto the soldier who called me Master. To the white armored man, he seemed like someone who would have answers, as to what what happened here. But then his wings glowed, emitting more light than they were before as a low,

gruff voice was heard, "Vali, don't go ne---"

He was cutoff from the other side where the gauntlet on Issei hand vocalised his intent, "White-one, though there are things I want to say to you, I would advise your host to leave, otherwise he won't live for our destined battle."

"Red-one, with him here I fear we have no other choice, but we will have our battle. Vali, we are leaving." said the voice, which I can bet is the White Dragon of Supremacy.

Vali protested "What? why? Thats just a weak human, why are you acting as if we are in danger? The strongest person here other than me is my fated rival who doesn't look like he will be waking up, plus what am I supposed to tell Azazel? I need to know what

happened here. And no way in hell am I going to stop that because of some weak human."

He continued "So which one of you killed this crow?"

No one said anything, everyone with the exception of the White Dragon Emperor himself knew the answer. Even the White Dragon of Supremacy knew the asnwer, but he didn't care about that right now, what took priority was that he needed to get his host out of here.

Draig interrupted "Host of my rival, if I were you, I would do well to heed the warning being given to me, you don't have what it takes to fight the 'Armada of the Great War', I would suggest you retreat or your death will be short and swift."

'Hmm? Armada of the Great War? Never heard of that before, but its something a heavenly dragon is wary off, so it must be something quite terrifying.' I concluded.

Vali was confused, he had never heard someone with this title, so he thought that if it was someone important, then he would be famous, but never had he heard about this guy, hence, he was not a big deal.

Albion understood what he was thinking, and didn't want to risk losing the strongest host he has ever had, so he decided to plant his foot down, "VALI! I don't care what you think of him! You have no idea what that man is capable of! WE ARE GOING BACK NOW! The governor

general needs to know this."

Vali was surprised, Albion had never ordered him to do anything, but right now he was different, so he finally gave in, turned around and left.

The soldier had not said nothing during this entire tirade, seemingly uninterested, but it was clear from his stance, he was ready to retaliate, should anything happen.

He turns around to look at me "As I was saying, I am Assassin-class servant, answering your summons, Master."
