Chapter 80: An Old Face

(Tramp boy POV)

Boy things sure have gotten strange here in Rima after that Princess Belle-rose went on and disappeared into the wind.

Its been more than a few months since that happened and its been a non stop rollercoaster.

Apparently all the ready and firstborn kids of the dukes were all killed in a freak gang war. Nobody knows why they were in that part of town in the first place some say it was the King trying to demonstrate his power before of the Nobles in an attempt to keep them at bay but the strain between the nobles and the monarchy have gotten even worse. The Dukes have stopped attending their bi monthly tribunal and the nobles behind them have began to follow suite.

Day by day the king's court dwindles with support...

"Ahhh sigh if only I had a bit more coin. I could leave this shit house happily " I said as stared at a silver coin held between my fingers.

I flipped my silver coin happily. I had sneaked it off some noble kid who wasn't paying attention. He was going to spend it on something sugary anyway. Spoiled brat.

I look around myself and see that the scenery hasn't changed but even by the way people walk it seems as if there is a heavy darkness looming over this place. The buildings still had their rustic yet fashionable architecture. The noble ladies still wore their dresses and the carriages still ran. So i guess nothing really has changed.

Something dawned on me in that moment. What if they find out that im the one who helped the princess? Wouldn't that make me an accomplice to her disappearance?...This is a felony of idek. Ive never took more than i could chew. Would they put me in the dungeon with all the freaks.??! Im still young. My body...

I shiver instinctively at the thought. In an attempt to quell my fears. I say out loud

" Aint nobody paying me to think about this so why have it on my mind. " i take a slight bow and silently draw a six pointed star over my heart.

Praise Holios Amen.

( POV END )

As the young boy said this. He failed to notice a pair of serpentine like eyes staring at him in the distance. The carriage he was sitting in slowly pulled up beside the boy and began to move at a leisurely pace down the strip.

A man with jet black hair and a playful smile held his hand out the window. In his hands was a piece of sey gold he leisurely let it dangle from his hands.

The tramp had already come out of his deep contemplation and smelled an opportunity to make some money.

He turned his head to see a well decorated carriage its exterior had intricate designs and drawing of snakes and flowers. The mix of black and velvet meshed so well with each other it was hard to tell if it made by someone who was not a master artist.

But even this did not catch his eyes as much as the piece of golden love that hanged loosely from some crystalline fingertips.

The young tramp couldn't believe his eyes. If he had that coin he'd already be considered a noble in this place.

He felt that this was an obvious trap. He was smarter than your average looter but his greed told him that if it was real he'd be set for the rest of his mortal life.

He reached for the coin but as he reached he felt his hands return back to their original position. The cart was moving slowly and the man inside had yet to notice anything suspicious. So he tried it again and again and again until he got frustrated and charged forward for the coin. He thought of his options.

If he could grab it all he needed to do was escape. From him. They wouldn't chase him across the entire town and for him to so casually have this in his hands he must be loaded.

Or i get it to stop abruptly and get his hands to slip up from the sudden movements. More and more plans began to formulate in his mind. But time was running out so he was left with only one more option.

He charged forward throwing away any form of discrepancy...

On the other side of the road.

A carriage of white and gold was leisurely driving around.

A handsome young man with blonde hair had his eyes closed. It seemed as if he was trying to sleep.

Clinging next to him was a young girl with plum hair. Her silver eyes lacked any emotion but her body was instinctively drawn beside him as if she needed him.

The man wore a black and gold suit covered by thick robes white robes with the crest of Helios on the back. Along with the collar having tiny trigram shaped holes for it to be buttoned up.

The girl however wore a plain dress she looked relatively simple and boring compared to the person she sat next to but the young man didn't seem to care.

However as they turned into a certain street his eyebrows twitched and he opened his eye that was nearest to the window revealing his dazzling blue pupils. He could not see beyond the window due to it being covered by a blind but still he silently stared at it. His expression turning more and more sour.

He shifted his body a bit grabbing the attention of the girl but when she looked towards him he was back in his original state.

On the opposite side of the road The young tramp watched in surprise as the sleeve of the man suddenly caught on fire causing him to instinctively drop the coin as he flinched. He had no time to think about what happened. He quickly snatched the coin out of the air and dashed for an alley way.

Inside the carriage the man retracted his arm which was now covered in a scalding burn.

His serpentine eyes dilated in joy as he rubbed the bubbling back of his hand. It summed as if it was dipped into the surface of the sun but after a few seconds of massaging the wound that was inflicted was gone.

He laughed to himself in the darkness of the carriage.

" Its seems like someone's playing dress up. "

The silence reverberated in the carriage. Noone would notice but as the carriage approached the corner it suddenly began to phase in and out of reality. Once it passed the threshold of the corner it disappeared.
