Chapter 2: A new world.
With just a thought Lin fan was already floating above the surface of the planet. He looked at the five massive buildings and was impressed with how much grander it looked up close, the buildings were five pagodas, each built on top of its own tall mountain, all together the buildings kind of resembled five fingers coming out of the ground.
Lin fan looked at the tallest tower at the center and decided to visit that place, assuming the leader of whatever sect this was lived there. Lin fan chose to walk instead of flying over because until he knew more about this world he wanted to keep a low profile, trying not to cause trouble that could end with him having to destroy this planet. That scenario may seem unlikely but from his memories it has happened multiple times now because the natives thought he was some kind of demon trying to take over their world.
When Lin fan was around ten kilometers away he suddenly saw a carriage in the distance with multiple guards around it going the same direction he was. After looking at them Lin fan heard one of the guards speak
"young miss we will be arriving at the Saint Demon Sect soon" said the guard who was wearing thick plated heavy armor. This guard looked like he was the strongest, he was Bulky and tall like a small hill.
'so this sect I'm going to is called the saint demon sect?. what a weird name, how could someone be both a saint and a demon.' after hearing what the guard said Lin fan finally found out the name of his destination.
since the group in front of Lin fan clearly knew about this saint demon sect he decided to introduce himself and try to get more information about the saint demon sect from them.
in the next second Lin fan was already five meters away from the group. after all with his strength he could cross half the planet within seconds.
when Lin fan reappeared he was immediately noticed by the guard from earlier.
"hold it!. who are you and what are you doing here." the guard said attracting the attention of all the other guards around him causing them to raise their spears and pointing to toward Lin fan.
Seeing this Lin fan smiled and replied to the guard. "hello I am visiting the saint demon sect and heard that you were also going there so I wanted to ask if I can join you."
the guards calmed down after hearing his response and put down their spears after seeing that Lin fan had no killing intent.
'he must be some weak cultivator that wants to see if he could get lucky and join the saint demon sect.' all the guards thought as they looked at Lin fan, after all if he were strong why would he ask to join them instead of visiting the saint demon sect on his own.
just as the leading guard was about to refuse, a female voice came out from the carriage. "let him come with us maybe he also wants to participate in the saint demon sect recruitment."
"as you wish young miss"
hearing what the lady in the carriage said Lin fan had a smug look on his face. after all he saw that the guard was about to refuse his request.
entering the carriage Lin fan saw the appearance of the lady, she looked young around 17 to 19 she looked pretty. after taking a seat Lin fan started to ask questions " may I know your name?"
"sure, I'm Nangong ji. from the Nangong family"
'she mentioned her nangong family, I guess she's from a powerful family." thought Lin fan
"what do you know about the saint demon sect? I've never been there." Lin fan asked with a smile
"really?, the saint demon sect is the worlds biggest sect with five peaks each on one of the worlds tallest mountains. Each peak has a peak elder that guards it and teaches its students." Nangong ji paused before continuing. "above the peak elders is the sect master his name is Jiang yeru, he is known as the strongest fighter in history. he built the saint demon sect with his own power" Nangong ji said with admiration.
'History's strongest fighter? yeah right! I could kill you with a finger!" Lin fan thought not saying it out loud trying not to look like an idiot. after all no one in this world knew him or anything about the gods.
taking the opportunity Lin fan asked another question. "I heard you mention the saint demon sect recruitment can you tell me more about that?"
while they were walking Nangong ji said "the saint demon sect recruits disciples every ten years. is doesn't matter what realm you are in as long as you have talent you can participate, but it is very difficult to enter the saint demon sect only the most talented people even have a chance to be accepted."
After speaking Nangong ji asked if Lin fan was participating. "no I won't be joining, but I would love to watch"
"Oh" hearing Lin fan's reply Nangong ji was disappointed, and thought the reason Lin fan wouldn't join was because we wasn't talented enough.
they talked a bit more while walking towards the saint demon sect and slowly they got closer even though Nangong ji thought Lin fan was probably just a weak cultivator she still didn't treat him badly.
a few hours passed and it was noon, although they are cultivators they still walked slowly trying not to alarm the people watching over the saint demon sect. In front of them was a tall sign that displayed a map of the area, the map also had the names of all the peaks.
the 1st peak was called wisdom peak, the 2nd peak was called lotus peak, the 3rd peak was called the alchemy peak, the 4th peak was called array peak, the 5th peak was called sect masters peak
"hello everyone, are you also here to take the recruitment test?" a gentle voice came from behind them. turning around they saw a young boy around the age of 10, he looked childish but had an aura of a cultivator.
when Nangong ji saw the boy she wasn't surprised at all instead calmly replied "yes, will you be joining too?"
"I will, wanna go together?. I heard the recruitment will take place on the sect masters peak, lets go"
walking up the sect masters peak Lin fan and Nangong ji started talking to the boy and found out his name was Xiao Yan, he wasn't from a big family like Nangong ji but was still talented even reaching the Qi refining stage at the age of 10. As they talked they got closer and told each other stories.
the sect masters peak was very tall. it took them 30 minutes walking up the stairs leading to the top but afterwards they saw a grand pagoda ten times more majestic than when looked at from far away.
