Chapter 6: Chapter 6
(You should know by now that, from here there will be a lot of new characters and many incidents in the story, since they never mentioned anything about the past in the novel, like what happened before Nie Li was reincarnated.)
The waitress looked at Ye Han and said "Let me show you the way to our best table." escorting Ye Han to the second floor, where the tables were separated by walls and closed by curtains.
You could still get a sneak peak of many young men with women inside the rooms. Ye Han said "Well, it looks more like a brothel to me than a restaurant."
"You misunderstood young master. These girls don't work here, they came here with those men. Since this is a restaurant, those young masters can save face of not being in a brothel, if discovered by someone." the waitress said and stopped at a room.
She opened the curtains for Ye Han and waited for him to enter and left after saying "Please wait here while I inform them of your arrival."
Ye Han didn't wait for long, as a young man in his 20s came to his table and sat in front of him, but greeted him first.
The man looked at Ye Han and said "Greetings, I am Yong Wei and I manage this place. So, what can I do for you, young master Ye Han?"
(I totally made that up and don't know what that name means in Chinese.)
"You know about me?" Ye Han asked and he replied "Yes, we are an information broker. You should be worried if we didn't recognise you."
"Ok, I need information about a few people." Ya Han says and hands him a paper with the pictures of the people he needs information on.
Yong Wei looked at the drawings and said "Young master Ye Han, you could just tell us their names. You don't have to go through the efforts of drawing them."
"I will remember that. As for now, I need all the information you got on them." Ye Han said and Yong Wei handed those drawings to the waitress who brought Ye Han, whispering something in her ears.
Ye Han continued "I also need all the information you got on me." and this managed to surprise Yong Wei. He asked "It is possible, but may I ask why young master wants to know about himself."
"I will explain that after you give me the information you have about me." Ye Han said and Yong Wei signalled the waitress, who bowed and left the room all to themselves.
Ye Han looked at Yong Wei and asked "So Yong Wei, why did you set up this information business? Is there like a backstory to all this?"
"Oh! The young master is interested in my past. That's the first time I heard someone from the noble family talk something other than work." Yong Wei said and Ye Han said "Tell me only if you want to, or it isn't too personal. I don't want to make it awkward."
"There is not much backstory to all this. I was a worker and the only thing I had were the close bonds between us workers. After growing up, we did bad things to live and to live peacefully, we decided to legally earn money.
Since there were a lot of us, we started spying on people and started this information business." Yong Wei said and a few minutes after he finished his story, the waitress returned with a scroll and handed it to Yong Wei, who handed it to Ye Han only after confirming the contents.
Ye Han opened the scroll and read it. It also had a drawing of his face, which was too weird. As he read the scroll, he put it down and said "Yong Wei, although the information is believable, it is far from the actual truth. Based on the details here, I got what I want. I shall take my leave then."
When Ye Han said 'details' Yong Wei understood what Ye Han just did. He smiled and said "Young master Ye Han, the information you ask for, will be ready by tomorrow night. Since you are from the Snow wind Family, I might have to ask young master Ye Han to collect the information outside the family."
Ye Han nodded, said "I shall return here then." and left, while, Yong Wei smiled at his back and said to the waitress "Interesting, really interesting. It's rare to find intelligent people from the big noble families. Keep an eye on him and treat him well, he might really become the next city lord."
The waitress nodded and left after serving Yong Wei his wine, while he was thinking 'Smart, he asked for his own information to see how much we know about him and he can even tell how much the client has paid, by seeing how detailed the report is.
Since our client only paid is the bare minimum, we also didn't put much manpower into investigating him. By this, he ruled out the nobles and his family members. If he has a list of suspects, he can easily find who investigated him.'
Yong Wei took a sip of his wine and said "Ye Han, I wonder what changes you will bring to this city."
Ye Han returned to his room and went to sleep. He just spent the next day normally, like any other day, cultivating and playing with his sister.
That night, he went back to the restaurant and the waitress from yesterday recognised him. She immediately went to him and said "Young master Ye Han, master Yong Wei has been waiting for you. Let me show you the way." leading him by hugging his arm, even bending to his height to do so.
Ye Han understood what she was doing and decided to ignore her, as he was still a kid and didn't want to go after women so young. And, he looked at his little brother as soon as he got to his new body, and the size isn't something he could be proud of.
The only thing that kept him motivated is that, he read about it in some books that, as you cultivate your body reaches perfection and women become prettier while men get a strengthened body with a strengthened little brother. So, the more you cultivate, the stronger your body.
He was taken to a similar room as yesterday, but everything were more grand and shiny than before. Yong Wei was already there, with a wine cup in his hand.
As soon as he saw Ye Han, he got up and vowed as he greeted "Greetings young master Ye Han, I have been waiting for you. Please have a seat."
Ye Han sat in front of him and Yong handed him three scrolls. Ye Han looked at them and before Ye Han could even question about the quantity, Yong Wei said "I will have to apologise in advance young master Ye Han, you see, we tried out best to figure out who they were, from the faces you drew, but we only managed to recognise two faces due to the drawings. It is our incompetence and I am willing to make up for it by providing information free of cost this time."
Ye Han coughed and said "It is fine if you regret it. Make sure it doesn't repeat next time." while he said in his head "I should be the one apologising to you. I got excited and drew their faces even though I know that I suck at drawing. I am surprised you even figured out two of the three faces."
Yong Wei thanked him and Ye Han said "I don't know his name, but he should be my maid's lover. If you have investigated about her, you should have his name."
But when he opened the scroll which had the information about his maid, he was shocked when he started reading it. He said "Yong Wei, are you sure you investigated about my maid itself. Here it says she is single, but I clearly saw her with a man in a room while they were doing stuff."
"That woman named Gui Ling, she is weird one to investigate, as she hardly left the Snow Wind Family and came out. When we enquired about her with others, everyone said that she was single. The only noticeable thing is that, she often visits Star restaurant, which is owned by the Sacred family." Yong Wei said and Ye Han thought about the star restaurant.
It felt like he heard about it somewhere, but couldn't remember. As for the Sacred family, he knew it as one of the three major noble families and knew from the show that it was also the family that had ties with the dark guild.
Now, he was no saint and he lost his 'save people and serve people' long ago, even before he died in his previous life, but there were still traces of his good self in him. That's why he saved the girl Yang Xin.
He sighed and said in his head "If they want to become the city lord, they obviously will come after me sooner or later. It is better that I start getting rid of them."
Ye Han sighed and said "I can tell where this is heading. Stop investigating her and find out more about the man she met in the inn down the street a week before from now."
Yong Wei nodded his head and Ye Han then opened the second scroll about Yang Xin, to find out of he can find anything about her he can use as a assurance that she wouldn't leak the pill recipes if he asked her to make them.
Ever since Ye Han got to know that he had no talent in pill making and Alchemy, he decided to make Yang Xin do the work for him. That's what brought him here.
As he read the information on Yang Xin, his smile started to get wider. Yong Wei also noticed the smile and said "Young master Ye Han sure has pretty crazy people around him."
Ye Han agreed with the statement, as when he started reading about Yang Xin, he felt like the moment in the training grounds is something God set up to help Ye Han.
He ate with Yong Wei, as Ye Han felt that Yong Wei would be a good person to get acquainted with. Ye Han returned home and on the way to his room, in the hallway, he met a woman in grey hair, that flowed down till her waist and some covering her eye. She had red eyes, which went perfectly with her hair. The moonlight perfectly reflected on her skin, showcasing a beautiful and perfectly shaped body.
Although Ye Han had the soul of a 26 year old man, he still had the body of a kid, whose body didn't even produce male hormones. He was still getting horny when he saw the body.
The woman came closer to him and Ye Han said "From now on, I want you to keep your hair open like this at all times."
"Young master, it hinders with my work and makes it difficult to do chores." the woman replied. Ye Han said "You are my maid and I don't care how you keep your hair while working, but while you are in front of me, keep them open."
The woman Ye Han is talking to, is his maid Gui Ling, the one whom he asked about the information broker and amongst the ones he had them investigate.
She usually had her hair tied up and Ye Han didn't actually pay much attention to her, as all the maids in the family piss him off. Now that he got a closer look at her, he was attracted to her, forgetting that there are chances she might be connected to the dark guild.
Gui Ling agreed and Ye Han returned to his room. It was already dark and he had his dinner at the restaurant, so he directly went to bed.
The next day, he had a change in his usual schedule. He headed to the training grounds as usual, but he didn't cultivate. He was already at 3-star Bronze rank, which is impossible for anyone in the city at his age, or even in the whole tiny world, as Nie Li found the technique for the baby birth energy thing in the higher realm and it was well hidden.
So, he decided to fasten the process in his brain mutation serum to read minds. He already had 48 chemicals he needed for the process, he just had to make the rest 52 and the instruments needed for the process, as he will have to do a lot of distillation, vaporisation, titration, etc.
He found innovative methods for many things, like using his black vortex for centrifugation, to separate the precipitate. (This is actually not needed. I am just trying to make it sound like he is in his complete scientist mode.)
It took him two weeks of many trail and errors, a lot of money on herbs and custom made instruments by the blacksmith. With all his efforts paying off, he was finally ready with his brain mutation serum.
"Ok, I have tested it on different rats and some weird demons. It should be safe well, only one way to find out." Ye Han said as he looked at the jade jar that contained the serum.
