Chapter 8: A Rat and Rotting Jell-O
Then the rat sensed it. The slime's focus had shifted onto it.
… Shit. The rat began to use [Stealth] and quickly moved out of the cave. The slime went and lurched into it. Up until recently the rat's presence was located in that cave, but then it suddenly disappeared? The slime would be having none of that! However the rat had already made an escape outside the burrow. The slime, not knowing this, crawled into it determined to have another meal. The rat used the spell [Strength Enhancement] and the skill [Vitality Check]. It saw the slime had the obvious weakness of the core, but as the rat never beat this monster before, it couldn't see the anatomy of it.
The rat undid [Stealth] and, after pouncing at the goo, began using [Burrow] on the slime, however, the slime's body was tougher and more solid than its kin. It was surprisingly tough for something only a little more solid than gelatin. The slime suddenly began spilling back out of the burrow, and teeth formed at the spot the rat was swiping at. It used its newly created maw to bite at the rat but missed as the rat jumped back. The rat strengthened its legs and started ricocheting off the walls. Redirecting itself back at the slime, it used its strong and well developed back leg muscles to launch itself, and then used its front paws to burrow through the gelatinous monster. It began doing so and got close to the core, but the slime shifted the spherical, gem-like vital out of the way and brought its teeth to the rat. It closed down with jagged fangs, piercing and ripping through the rat. Jagged, bony fangs danced through the slime, cutting, grazing, piercing, and shredding pieces of the rat off.
One fang moved in and swiftly plunged itself into the rat, but suddenly the slime found it lacked the ability to move the tooth. No matter how much it pulled and twisted the fang, it could only wiggle it in the rat's tightly tensed muscles. By flexing its strengthened muscles, many teeth, all over the rat, found themselves unable to move an inch. Taking the chance of its disabled enemy, the rat started burrowing out of the slime, but as soon as part of the slime had disappeared, it just as quickly filled back in. The slime shifted piece after piece of itself into the rat's way; it was quite the large monster and could afford the use of bits of its body.
The rat was getting desperate as it was running out of breath, and the acid, found in all slimes, was slowly dissolving its body. Would the rat die the same way as its last life, drowning, or would it be dissolved alive? Either option had one answer. Hell no! The rat used all its skills in unison. With strengthening, magical buffs, and its perception increased, it continued floundering and searching for a way out. If it kept replacing pieces of itself, then didn't the rat just need to dig faster and get rid of more of its body. With this in mind, the rat kept digging away at the slime, but this using [Bite] and swallowing its foe as well. With the amount of attacking limbs increased, and the slime no longer able to pull in its body it was getting eaten, it stopped sourcing slime into the path of the ravenous rat. A hole appeared in the rats path, and it only rapidly got larger and wider until the rat found itself wheezing heavily on the hard, cold ground.
Using its new spell [Speed Enhancement], which sounded like "Skred Enhenhmenk" in the screeching of the rat, it then suddenly felt its body become more agile. Then, just like before it would start bouncing off the walls, but now it wouldn't stop to pounce at the slime. The rat would continue to ricochet all around, picking up more and more speed, all while disorienting the slime with sudden uses of [Glare] and damaging it with along the way with[Scratch]. The rat's tactic was to slowly whittle down the slime, which worked for a while. However, an alarming notice popped up.

The constant battle had been shaving and now rapidly chopping away at the rat's stamina. The rat panicked and made a jump at a slight wrong angle. It aimed the rat up towards the ceiling which the rat accidentally used a [Scratch] on that was intended for the slime. This damage was multiplied by the speed, buffs, and skills of the rat, and was then further enhanced by [Stone Breaker]. This was right above the slime, so it tried jumping towards the rat at that moment. Normally the rat would've been caught, but by some miracle of luck, the rat evaded by a hair's width. The slime crashed into the ceiling further damaging it; then there was a collapse. The ceiling crumbled and came falling down upon the slime. At this time the rat was already at a safe distance and simply watched. The slime was crushed by the ceiling and the dirt that fell with it. It fell and crushed the slime in half, leaving the living half on the same side as the rat. The rat injured and tired was now facing off against a heavily damaged slime. The final round begins.
The rat dashes at it and started burrowing. The slime responded by chomping down on the, rat injuring it, and because of how tired the rat is, it can't restrain the fangs. The rat continued to dig through the slime, trying to get to the core while being mercilessly chewed up. The rat made a last ditch effort and used the last of its energy to lunge at the core. It makes it. The rat uses [Bite] and crushed the core in between its jaws. The core shatters in the rat's mouth, and the slime begins to quiver before falling apart.
