Chapter 28: Complexion
"Hmm? Who are these two? Jonin of Konoha? Never heard of them." Sakumo said as he looked at the files of the two people who had to go with him.
Sakumo threw the files on the table and leaned back on his chair and slept.
In the morning, Sakumo stood in front of the two jonin who were going with him.
Ishida Masumi and Nagai Hitoshi.
Ishida was a specialist in detection while Nagai was a specialist in taijutsu and weapons.
'What is wrong with them?' Sakumo thought as he looked at his teammates.
Both of them stood while having no expressions. A ninja needed to have no emotions but what they were was just inhuman.
Soon, the three of them set out for their mission location.
'It is as if they are puppets.' Sakumo thought when he looked at them again while running.
One and a half Months Later
Jiraiya, Tsunade and Orochimaru were already back in Konoha.
Minato was being trained by Jiraiya for the past few days and Minato was also still trying to find the girl's name.
The so-called peace treaty had been signed by the five hidden villages and the powerhouses at Kage-level and other elites had gone back from the border.
Only Sakumo was still on the mission he had received.
One morning, the sun was up above, shining brightly in the sky and the chirping of birds could be heard everywhere.
Yukan had just woken up and was getting ready for the day.
"Yukan, I heard that Sakumo had a problem during his mission," Aayu said as Yukan entered the living room.
"Hmm? Really?" Yukan asked. Sakumo should not have a failed mission now since Yukan considered their mission to be that Sakumo had failed in the original work.
"Yeah, I heard from Myu while going to the market yesterday. Sakumo came back yesterday morning." Aayu said.
"I'll go meet sensei, I have some work from him too. But, why didn't you tell me yesterday only?" Yukan asked.
Yukan looked at his mother questioningly.
Aayu put her hand on the back of her head and smiled.
"I forgot, I guess?"
Yukan sighed and left his house.
On the way to meet Sakumo, Yukan stopped by several shops to see if the environment was the same as when Sakumo had failed his mission.
By the time he stood in front of Sakumo's house, he was sure that no one even had an idea that something happened during Sakumo's mission.
Yukan proceeded to knock on the door.
Kakashi opened the door and when he saw Yukan, he jumped in his direction and held his arm.
"Nii-San, you will be the one who will train me later and not that old man, right?" Kakashi asked while holding Yukan's arm as hard as he could.
"Hmm? Ok, I will, but why are you suddenly asking this?"
"Nothing," Kakashi said and ran away.
'At least he is a happy kid this time.' Yukan thought as he walked in.
Inside the house, at the entrance he saw Sakumo standing with a spatula in his hand.
"Sensei, you changed your weapon?" Yukan made fun of Sakumo.
Sakumo threw the spatula in Yukan's direction though he did not use any strength.
Yukan caught it, fell to the ground and said," Ouch, Sensei, I am sorry. I made a mistake, please forgive me."
"Hmph, better that you know it." Sakumo said with a smug smile.
"Darlinnnng- " Myu, who just saw everything from Yukan falling, asked Sakumo.
Yukan looked at Myu. Her complexion looked much better now and she was not as weak as before.
'She must have taken the pill.'
A few minutes later, Yukan and Sakumo sat in a room.
"What are you here for?" Sakumo said with a swollen cheek.
"I-I am here because I heard about y-your mission… Bwahaha" Yukan started to laugh while speaking.
"Yeah, laugh. Laugh more. You knew she was there, right."
"Yup, and you did too," Yukan said. It was no work for a ninja like Sakumo to sense a civilian like Myu.
"Well… You are here to ask about my mission. So, what happened was that I completed the mission but my teammates died." Sakumo said with a straight face.
"So, why did they die?"
"They were caught in an ambush while on the mission. Rather, I'll only tell you this, but I could have saved them but.." Sakumo said.
"Why didn't you then?"
"At first, I was suspicious of them. While on the mission, they never spoke a word, even to each other, they showed no emotion at all, moreover, it was very wrong when even the detection specialist was caught in the ambush. Finally, I was sure something was wrong with them when I saw the well-planned ambush as if the enemy knew we were coming." Sakumo explained what happened and why he let what happened, happen.
Yukan heard Sakumo's side and understood what happened.
"Also, I investigated them a little. The mission I went on with you was supposed to be done with 5 other people and out of those 5, these two were there." Sakumo said.
After saying that, Sakumo got up, opened the room's window and stared out of it.
"Tell me about your training, how is it going?" Sakumo asked Yukan about the chakra training Yukan was doing last time.
"I have now completed all those, so teach me the next step," Yukan said.
Sakumo gestured to Yukan to come with him and jumped out of the window.
Yukan followed him and jumped out of the window.
"Why did we jump out of the window?" Yukan asked.
"..Seemed to be going with the style."
