Chapter 13: I Am Your End

"We need more arms. More people. We need to strengthen ourselves even more…and plan an emergency escape route…"

Black snake replied, sighing secretly in relief. He was a naturally cautious person, and what he abhorred the most was fighting an unknown enemy.

Know thy enemy and you shall come out victorious. This saying, he had followed it all his life, and it had saved him from many difficult situations and enabled him to win his battles.

Being out in the open while his opponents were in the dark, that kind of unidentified danger, that feeling where he didn't know what would happen next, it was particularly unnerving.

"Run away. That's what you're proposing?"

"If worse comes to worst, then yes. After all, we might be dealing with an entire organisation, not just one person."

Savage king looked at his second, the man he had worked with for four decades, who built this organisation with him, and nodded.

He then said with a laugh, one tinged with arrogance and self-confidence.

"Hahaha, fine then. We'll go with your plan. However, the Erujeje will not back down without a fight. We will not run with our tails between our legs. If that damned vigilante dares to come here, we shall make this place his burial ground!"

"Yes!"

"Yeah!"

His shout was accompanied by cheers of consensus. The entire upper echelon of this notorious group had gathered for a meeting. Now they felt the blood in their veins boil and their adrenaline rise to their heads. It had been a long time since they felt so spirited. It had been years since they joined an operation directly, but now, the almost forgotten thrill of battle had begun to envelop them.

The six people were filled with murderous fighting intent. And although they were all well above their years, with the youngest among them being in his forties, this didn't diminish their fighting intent.

If anything, their murderous intent was stronger than any other youngster in the lower ranks as they had spent more years in the group, which meant that the blood on their hands was thicker.

It was at that moment that the alarms started to ring.

"Huh?"

"What's happening?"

The ringing noise outside was deafening. It caused the six people to frown and look out the window. Feeling perplexed, a man in green clothes stood from his seat and walked closer to the window to see the situation outside. Then...

Clash…!!

"Ahhh…"

A small object was thrown in through the window and it hit the man squarely on his head with so much force that he tumbled and fell to the ground with a scream.

The object then rolled on the floor and came to a stop by the table leg.

All six people stood up with grim faces and assumed fighting stances, each of them reaching for their weapons.

A tall man with a bald head spoke with a tremor in his voice.

"This is a five-story building, and we are on the topmost floor…"

He didn't finish his words, but the group understood what he meant.

How did that get here?

But before they could do anything, smoke erupted from the foreign object and covered the room instantly. It caused the group to erupt in a coughing fit and take out their weapons.

"Cough, cough…"

"Cough, boss, get down. It's an ambush!"

"I know that you idiot…"

"Leave through the door. The smoke might be poisoned…!"

Just as he shouted, the sprinkler heads became triggered by the smoke and caused liquid to rain down on the group.

"Ah, the hell is happening!"

"Motherf***er! Why the f*ck is this red?!"

"Boss, boss! This is b-blood!"

"Stop acting like this is your first time seeing blood. Everyone get out. Let's find the b*stard responsible for this. Be alert."

The others replied and walked out of the room. The smoke had cleared, and the sprinklers had stopped spraying blood.

Once they opened the door, the group was met with a chilling scene. One resembling that from a horror movie.

Occasionally, the light bulbs would flicker and show the situation in the hallways. The sight chilled them to their cores.

The formerly white walls were stained in red blood, and on the floor were bodies carelessly tossed aside. There were red palm prints on the doors, showing that the victims had tried to escape but failed.

Every place they passed had pieces of flesh and red fluid scattered around. The corpses were in states too horrendous to look at directly and the rest, in less horrifying conditions, showed a clean cut on the neck or a hole in the chest as the cause of death.

"Black snake, how many people do you think there are on the opponent's side?"

"Based on…what we've seen. At least ten…"

"Hmm..."

The group huddled together and held their guns even tighter. With every step they took the faces of the Erujeje members blackened even further.

The thoughts in their heads ran wild. They had a common question in mind. It was one with an answer that caused their hearts to be filled with apprehension.

What kind of people could induce such carnage without making a single noise? They hadn't noticed a thing when they were in the room. It was like they were transported to a different place.

"B-boss…do we t-take the elevator…?" Questioned a short man with a large belly in a trembling voice. He held a gun to his front with hands that shook even more than a leave blown by the wind. But even though his words and current demeanour were timid, the fierce savage king did not say a word of reproach. His expression was rigid, and his jaws were tightly clenched, which caused the scar on his face to be even more sinister.

Instead, it was black snake who spoke, telling the group to take the stairs. It would be unwise to take the elevator in this kind of situation.

Thus, the group trudged down the stairs while covered in blood with the remains of their men attached to their clothing.

Soon they reached the ground floor and came out of the building, but stopped in their tracks when they saw someone standing in front of them.

"You people are really slow."

Before them was a beautiful young lady holding a pair of red twin blades.

The group looked at the girl, and then at the surroundings. Seeing no other person, their gazes returned to the girl, inquiring and penetrating, especially savage king and black snake, who looked at her with vigilance.

For them to have reached their current status, they had to understand a few fundamental conceptions. Among these was never to judge a book by its cover. They understood that underestimating the enemy was the beginning of failure.

Therefore, the way the two looked at the girl a few feet away was filled with caution. They felt she was a dangerous figure for her to appear here, but didn't think she was the main person responsible for tonight's incident. At most, she was a subordinate.

"Who are you?" Savage king took the lead and asked about her identity. His voice was deep and filled with confidence. It carried a kind of powerful suppression that aimed at pressuring the target, however, Tejumole just stood in place, unfazed.

"Hmm, I am your end."
