Chapter 16: Chapter 15
I took Anais with me to find the location of the cooking competition, while there was an address written on the flyer I picked up, we were still new to this city.
After asking around we finally found the location, I was quite shocked to say the least. I had initially thought the competition would be held in some sort of hotel or even a field used to set it up, but they seem to have a designated building for holding this event which means they do I more often than I thought.
The building was huge, it seemed like it could hold at least a hundred thousand people, I didn't expect so many people were interested in watching cooking competitions but it makes sense kind of, while the world of dragon ball has some advanced technology there isn't much in the entertainment field, while I am willing to change it for a bit of profit It will probably be something I do on the side as a break from my training.
I arrived at the entrance with Anais and tried to register
Guard: "Are you kids here to watch the competition? do you have your tickets?"
Tatsumaki: "I am here to join as a participant, she's here to watch"
Guard: "Aren't you a bit to young to enter a cooking competition?"
Tatsumaki: "Yes, yes I am"
Guard: "Whatever, I didn't make the rules, head to the front desk and speak to the receptionist, your friend however will need tickets, normally it would be hard to get a spot but since she is with someone that plans to participate, she should get special privileges"
Tatsumaki: "Thanks"
We followed the guard's instructions and headed to the receptionist and finished the registration and got Anais a VIP seat, all that was left was to win cause there was absolutely no way I could lose.
I got to the waiting room, to rest while the rest of the competition arrived and surprisingly, I was not the only youth, there were a few others in their mid teens and late teens and while it was unexpected it wasn't unprecedented.
An hour had passed by, and the host started the introduction to the competition, we could see how it was occurring from the tv we had in the waiting room, we were told to head out when they introduced the contestants.
I went to the desk with the number that was written on the id card I was given, there were lots of utensils, ingredients, tools and other necessary items needed for cooking.
I had thought there would be more people in the competition given there was a chance to win a large sum of money, but there were roughly 70 of us from what I could sense I don't know how the judges plan on eating all the food we plan on giving them but its not my job to think about how they do theirs, my job is to win.
The competition started and we were given an hour to make our best dish, I don't plan on making anything extravagant, I'm going to take a page from the books of cultivation novels and play the pig to eat the tiger. I decided to make a simple dish of spaghetti and meatballs, I say simple, but I know very well that it will still taste like the best dish they will ever taste in their lives unless I decide to make something better for them.
I have made pasta and meatballs before so I already know the exact proportions and process needed to get the perfect flavors and texture, some may say using Ki to cook is highly overdone, but I say, whatever it takes to make my shit taste good.
I only needed 30 minutes to cook everything, advantages of magic and Ki. The flavor was up to my standards it wasn't anything great, but it was good enough that my tongue would not notice any flaws. I was using my magic to keep the food warm while I waited for time to run out.
The five judges eventually started to try some of the food the other contestants made, I didn't want to wait for too long, so I decided to go 10th. I placed my food on the tables of the judges and went back to my desk and didn't bother to watch any further after all cool guys don't look at explosions, and like the universe was in my favor I heard the moans of the judges and the sounds of their fabrics tearing.
I had given my food to members of my village before and the exact same thing happened and which was out of my expectation at the time, but it seemed to have something to do with an outburst of Ki, but I wasn't interested in how it worked, I was just satisfied that my food worked the same way as it did in shokugeki no soma.
The staff came to deal with the lack of clothing of the judges and the competition continued after making sure the judges were okay since something like that had never happened before and it went exactly as I expected the judges had looks that lacked enthusiasm and while I am unsure if others noticed I saw them occasionally stare at the pots that held my cooking.
The competition came to an end with me winning and while the money was nice it wasn't as good as ruining food for a bunch of people for the rest of their lives, now whenever they eat their food it will never be the same for them.
I took Anais with me to a real estate center to find a place to rent for a month and we would continue to pay if we wanted to stay any longer. We had played around in central city for almost 2 months, while it was fun at first the lack of entertainment really reduced my interest in staying for a longer period of time.
With my luck, I found gold nuggets buried in the ground when training my Ki blasts and sold them to gain more funds, I felt that I underestimated the power of the luck stat it makes things convenient, everything I want basically falls onto my laps so I decided to study it late, maybe I can find a way to change the 'minor' in the reality manipulation skill into 'major'.
I arrived at our apartment and went looking for Anais to tell her that to be ready to head out to continue our journey.
Tatsumaki: "Anais, are you decent?"
Anais: "You can come in"
She was in her room, which was messy to say the least. She had books, clothes and shopping bags all over the place I was put off by it, but it was not my place to judge maybe she was looking for something and it was only in this state temporarily.
Tatsumaki: "I am ready to leave the city and continue our journey, I was able to get information on the location of Korin's tower from one of the other cities I flew to so try to get all your things packed up within 2 days. Oh, and please don't spend hours dressing up like last time"
