Chapter 2: CHAPTER 2 A FRESH START

It has been two months since when Casey's parents died. I tried telling her about my powers, but I held still for sometime and moreover I gave her time to free herself from all that happened.
Now we're both staying at my place because Casey said she doesn't want to remember all those ugly incident that cost the lives of her parents. It's a fresh start of life for her.
We both work in a restaurant were we're paid 8dollars per hour and we work for 12 hours that's half a day so we earn 96dollars. Well that's that for now.
I stood up from the bed and looked at Casey who was sleeping uncomfortable though her face wore a warm smile. I touched her leg and noticed her temperature has risen. OMG. I quickly fetched some ice cubes and wrapped them in a light hand towel and placed it on her head. she slowly opened her eyes.
"Arrrrgh!! my head hurts"
"sorry your temperature has risen again, let's go see doc Max"
" don't worry I will be alright"
" you can't tell me you will be alright in this type of condition".
she held my hand and I felt the heat emitting from her hand.
"Lee" she called softly "l'm gonna be fine" she said with her eyes piercing mine.
"ok if you insist".
"am famished"
"I know, you will, so what do you want for dinner"

" hmmm let me see.... chicken enchiladas should be ok"
" ok if you insist"
I got to the kitchen and quickly set out to prepare dinner, I washed my hands, wore my apron and brought out some chicken enchiladas from the refrigerator topping them with salsa and cheese and popping them in the microwave.
While I let the chicken heat, I chopped up some lettuce, diced some green onions. In no time I was through and carried our lovely Mexican food to the dining and called out on Casey to come the dining room but she insist that the food should be brought to the room.
"hmmm.... what has this lovely cook prepared"
"Mexican dish my lady"
(laughs)
I was so happy seeing her laughing. I set the dish and on the side stool and went down to bring two glasses of chilled water. We ate our dinner in silence.
"Haaaa... I'm ok" she said while shifting her plate and drank half of the chilled water. "thanks love" she said.
I say life bouncing back into her.
"so how is my baby feeling?"
"just like when I was born" she said and I chuckled. I carried the empty dishes to the kitchen and quickly washed them.
When I got to the, Casey was sitting on the dressing chair drying her hair that was so damp with the hair dryer.
"let me help you with that" I said and collected the dryer before receiving any answer.
"thanks"
I love the smooth curls of her hair, I was through and returned the dryer back to the table drawer. She stood up and stretched herself.
"Arrgh!! my back aches. Thanks darlin" She said and kissed me lightly on the lips. I watched her change into a transparent blue night dress, while I took my black towel and got into the bathroom.

I came out in a blue pajamas with white dots and found Casey asleep. I raised the blanket and covered Casey who was shivering, then slipped under the covers and closed my eyes.
I felt Casey's arm round my waist so I drew near and cuddled her. Holding her waist, I slept off.
CASEY POV
I woke up feeling so healthy. Yesterday, I couldn't understand my body system, it was just changing like the weather. But now I feel like a newborn baby.
I turned and saw Lee still fast asleep. This guy is really amazing. I thought as I admired him. I want to make a surprise for him,so I quickly pulled myself together and went to the kitchen. Prepared some pecan pie with some walnut chicken breast in brandy sause along with a crisp french boule and an artichoke salad. I also made some home made brownies and orange juice.
I laid them on the dining table and went back to the bedroom. He was still asleep so I checked the time and it was 6:30am, so I quietly slipped under the covers and slept by his side.

"Hey Casey, good morning, how are you feeling?"
"Good morning Lee, much better".
My eyes got wider as I saw him out of his pajamas into his black towel.
"Oh you want to have you bath"
"Yeah, do you wanna join me"
"Yeah" and I quickly removed my night dress and tied my large blue towel over my chest. We both entered the bathroom and had a long bath.

We came out of the bathroom and I chose a black sweat shirt with a white shorts for him, while he chose a black tank top with a white mini skirt for me.
"You look cool" I said as I admired his dress.
"And you look so cute"
"Awwn, thanks dear"
"Ha I'm so famished". We both said together and laughed.
"You wanna eat something". I asked him.
"Yeah"
"Well, I made a little surprise for you"
"What for? Which surprise?".
"Don't bother, you will see it once you get downstairs" He was about going out of the room but I stopped him.
"No no no nooo not so fast". I took a handkerchief out of the drawer and used it to blindfold him.
"Hmm Casey this one that you are blindfolding me, hope you don't want to kill me"
"(laughs) don't be ridiculous, how will I think of hurting you"
I led him downstairs to the dining room. I removed the handkerchief from his eyes.
" Taalaa!! surprise!!".
I watched the look on his face.
" Ca...a..se..ey" He said in surprise. " You made all these for me"
" You haven't seen what's under those covers." I opened the first dish
" OMG, you made brownies"
"That's not all". I opened the second,third, and fourth.
"Whoa, whoa, you made all these"
"Yeah, just to express my gratitude to you"
"C'mon girl you didn't have to stress yourself for me. Give me a hug." He said and spread his arms. I went into those waiting arms of his and he hugged me so warmly.
"I love you. You're the best girlfriend ever"
"I love you too"
And he bent his head and placed a kiss on my lip.
"Now let's put some of these into our hungry tummies"
"Yeah"
We sat on our seats and started eating. Five minutes into the meal Lee broke the ice.
"Casey" He called softly.
"Yes"
"I want to share this with you"
"Okay, go ahead I'm listening"
"Erm,erm"
"Yesss". I said looking at him attentively
"I've secret power"
I quickly spilled out the morsels of food in my mouth into a tissue, and looked at him as if I didn't hear what he said.
"You what??..."
"Calm down. I said I've a secret power"
"Where did you get it from?"
"Remember when I narrated how my parents died."
"Yeah I remembered"
"My mom said that the power was given to me by my godfather, who said that I'm to use it to protect the citizens of this country from the people of Brehandy"
" Who is this people of Brehandy?".
" That's what I really don't know."
" Okay,we will wait till then."
We continued our meal in silence. All of a sudden the lights started blinking, the tables and chairs were shaking, the windows were opening and closing. We heard some plates in the kitchen falling off the cupboard, even the television was coming on and going off. Then the sound system that was installed in the walls of the sitting room was booming so loudly. The piano in the bedroom was giving different musical sounds. Then we heard a terrifying and horrible laughter.
Suddenly everywhere became still, with wind coming from different directions. The wind came together like a tornado and formed a lady who was putting on a red night dress.
" Charlie" We both yelled.
