Chapter 165: Trials of Hircine V

--------------------------------------------

"Boss, why are we in Solitude and not a big forest, like ya said?" A bandit asks as he makes his way through the main gate of Solitude.

"Just shut up, we're here to kill a fuckin' rabbit for Hircine's boon!" The bandit chief declares, impatiently pushing forward with his eight subordinates following close behind him.

Each bandit slowly enters the town, various crude swords, axes, shields, and bows drawn. The only one with a decent set of equipment, being the bandit chief with a full set of steel armor and a double bladed great axe.

As the last bandit enters the town, the doors slam shut behind them and a loud thunk can be heard as if something is holding the door shut on the other side.

One of the bandits rush back to the door and try to pull it open but to no avail.

"Fuck! Boss, it's jammed! What do we do now?!" The bandit asks in a panic.

"Calm down! This fucker's just tryin' to mess with us. We'll open the door after we kill him." The bandit chief orders, calming down his men.

"Now that you pussies have calmed down, let's split up and find this fucker, you two with me. You three will go to the Palace, and you three will search the shops." The bandit chief orders.

"Boss, are you sure-" One of the bandits tries to warn but is quickly punched in the helmet by the boss to shut him up.

"Did I ask for you fuckin' opinion? No? Then shut the fuck up and start lookin' for that bastard! All of you's!" The bandit chief orders making the group split up immediately.

The one bandit rubs his head after taking off his helmet once the bandit chief is out of sight.

"Damn bastard... That fuckin' hurt..." He complains as he follows his comrades into what looks to be a burnt out shop.

"Stop your whinin', Boss wouldn't hit you so much if you didn't piss him off first." One bandit says.

"But everythin' I do pisses him off? What should I do, huh?" The bandit without a helmet says.

"Well, you could stop doin' everythin'?" The other bandit in the group suggests.

"So, I should just fuckin' die then?" The helmetless bandit asks angrily, not noticing the trip wire placed on the stairs he's approaching as he's too focused on his rant.

"I'm sure the Boss wouldn't mind that." The first bandit jokes.

"You know what- AAAAAAHHH!!!" The helmetless bandit starts to retort before tripping over the wire and landing face first on the corner of a stair cracking his nose and causing a body to come swinging down from the staircase scaring the other two bandits.

"What in Oblivion is that?!" The first bandit shouts as he grips the other bandit in terror as the body of an old Nord dangles from the edge of the staircase with a crude sign painted in blood around his neck that reads...

[TURN BACK]

"Ah, fuk me 'ose!" The helmetless bandit tries to shout while holding his bloody, broken nose as he stands up only to bump into the hanging body.

"A fuk ish dat?!" The helmetless bandit shouts before running back to the other two bandits.

"Let's get out of here!" One bandit shouts.

"Y-yeah! We gotta tell the Boss! Definitely not running away!" The other bandit replies as they make for the door.

"Efinetsh!" The broken nosed bandit agrees as he makes for the door close behind the other two bandits as they start pulling on the handle only to realize it's jammed shut.

"Fuck! Let us out!" One bandit shouts as he pulls out his axe and starts trying to pry the door open, with little success.

"Groar! Go look for another exit!" The bandit attempting to open the door shouts in frustration as he turns around to order his companion to find an exit only to realize he's all alone by the door and no one else is around him.

"Groar? Denvar? This isn't fuckin' funny, stop messing around!" The bandit with an axe says as he looks around nervously for his companions.

But after searching for several moments he realizes they're nowhere to be found.

*Creeeaaakkk*

A door to a back room slowly creaks open catching the bandit's attention.

"Stop messing around, you two!" The bandit chastises in anger as he makes his way into the dark room to get his companions.

"I'm going to knock some sense into you two idiots when-" The bandit complains before a hand wraps itself around his mouth before dragging a blade across his throat.

"That's three down... Six more to go..." A voice says, catching the now limp body of the bandit before taking it into the backroom.

Looting anything of value from the bandits, the lightly armored figure makes his way to his next set of traps.

Moving quietly through the cobbled streets of solitude, the orc slips in behind another bandit group patrolling through the streets.

Two carry bows and arrows, while the third is wielding a sword and wooden shield.

"Either of you know why the Boss is so obsessed with Hircine?" One of the archers asks as the group continues searching the empty streets of Solitude.

"I think it's cause that rumor?" The other archer replies after thinking for a moment.

"What rumor?" The first archer asks as he goes to loot a bottle of spiced wine from the nearby market stall.

"I don't remember it well, Ranbor, do you remember it?" The archer asks the bandit with a sword and shield.

"Hmmm, I think it had something to do with a bounty offered by that foresworn party we ran into a few days back?" Ranbor says stopping to join the archer in looting the stall as they start enjoying the spiced wine.

"Bounty?" The non-drinking archer asks with intrest.

"Yeah, those guys told the Boss that a big reward from Hircine himself would be given to whoever won this little hunting game." Ranbor explains as he downs his bottle of wine.

(Author's Note: Hey, everyone, so recent updates to webnovel's writing UI are apparently incompatable with the spell-checker I use on my computer. So, while I work on finding a work around on my end until this is resolved, I may have more spelling and grammer errors. Thanks for your patience and I hope you continue to enjoy the story!)
