Chapter 26: Transfusion

"Cain, stay calm and try to tell me what happened." Luna said with tears in her eyes while whimpering.

Her words were meant more for her to stay calm as she shakily reached her hands up to his face to hold his head still and check his pulse. Cain kept opening his mouth like he wanted to say something but the words weren't able to come out.

As a plan B, he started moving his shaky arm toward something in the distance and it took Luna a while to even realize he was pointing somewhere. When she finally noticed, she used her sensitive eyes to see his finger was leading toward a vial of some sort on the ground.

Her body trembled as she recognized the vial that she had helped prepare for him!

"Cain! Why did you take that?! I thought we agreed that was a last resort!!" Luna started bawling as she ran over and grabbed the vial that was labeled, 'Holstaur serum.'"

She quickly ran back and pretty much dumped out all of her medical supplies in a storage ring of her own and went through it to get the chemicals she needed to try and stabilize her lover. His state of shock was only getting worse by the second so she quickly administered some important drugs that would at least calm him down slightly.

The unfortunate part was that after their own testing the last time this happened, he basically needed a full body blood transfusion, which was pretty much impossible this far out in the frontier.

Even if there were other humans around who would offer their help, they wouldn't be able to give enough blood if they were trying to keep themselves safe.

As Luna was struggling to figure out how to save him, large footsteps were heard as Moona and a few others came into the room. Moona was still crying and naked covered in their mixed bodily fluids while Nyatasha was licking some of it off the cowoman not so discretely.

The Harpy woman Penny was also flapping above them all as she chirped and looked down with worry at the man who had yet to impregnate her.

"I-Is he going to be alright?" Moona came up next to Luna with worry.

"At the moment, no," Luna didn't care for making the cowoman feel any better, "His body is attacking itself so unless we can bloodlet him and give him a transfusion at the same time, he won't survive."

"This is all my fault..." Moona shivered in fear and held her hands to her face.

Luna didn't correct her even though it was more of Cain's fault than hers. While she was here to help, she was also here to ensure Cain's safety. She was already failing at her job and knew once he was gone, there was no reason for her to be in this world either.

She was basically saving two lives right now but with her mental state shaky from fear, and the anger she had at herself and him for the stupid vial of Holstaur blood mixed with his own.

Just as she looked at the vial one more time, she had a eureka moment that brought her back some hope.

"GO GET VALA, NOW!!!" She turned to the crying cowoman who didn't seem to her here.

"MOONA!!!" She barked loudly at the Holstaur, waking her up out of her self-hate.

"Go get Mrs. Alderman!! She may be the only one who can save Cain!" Luna repeated herself and while it took a second to register for the cowoman, Nyatasha and Penny helped drag her up to leave.

The three quickly left the barn since they pretty much couldn't do anything to help. Nyatasha was maybe a bit better but it had been so long since she did anything medical like that, that she was sure to mess up.

Penny screeched into the surroundings as she took high to the sky. Nyatasha went down on all fours to run as the ground beneath her shook slightly with the cowoman who ran like a normal human a few yards away.

"It's nyot your fault Moonya," Nyatasha spoke out loud, "You didn't knyow about his condition and there wouldn't have been anything you could do once he crashed. You already did amazing by calling for help."

Moona rolled her lips inward in frustration as she listened but didn't reply. Even if the Lynxwoman made sense, she couldn't help but blame herself. She was there to watch Cain transform himself into a Minotaur and she should have stopped them then and there to help him get treatment, yet she let her instincts take over and it led them to where they are now.

They didn't say anything else as Penny continued to squawk and dart her eyes everywhere for Vala if she had gone outside. Today, she was interviewing so while she was most likely in one of the offices, she may also be outside since some beastwomen may feel more comfortable talking about their issues in the sun.

"There!" Penny yelled out eventually and dove down toward an awning on the back of the main clinic building where there were lots of plants and trees around.

On the patio area under the awning, Vala smiled while she took a sip of tea and looked back at the interviewee. The woman before her was definitely one of their most unique clients so far since her skin was practically made of leaves and flowers while antlers jutted out of the top of her head like branches of a tree.

Her eyes were literally sunflowers that blinked beautifully as she took a small sip of tea as well.

"I must say, I don't ever think I've met a spirit being before, much less a dryad like yourself. It was very nice to meet you and I hope we get to meet again soon." Vala said earnestly.

Her words made the Dryad blush as the petals around her cheeks turned pink. Different parts of her body spun or shook as a sign of her delight but before she could give her own words, three figures interrupted her.

"Vala we need your help!!" Moona was out of breath and still naked.

"EEP!!" The Dryad woman shrieked in fear and embarrassment as she shrunk down before turning herself into a small tree and the surrounding vegetation got agitated.

Vala glared at the cowoman and the two others who weren't far behind.

"I am in a PRIVATE interview! Was could possibly be more important than the well-being of our clients!"

"Your son," Nyatasha was already used to her angry side, "He's dying, Luna needs your help to save him!"

Vala's body shook as she heard those words. No! She didn't want to believe it. She just lost her father and was reunited with her son. He can't die too. Not after they just met in 13 long years.

Nyatasha could see her internal struggle to believe her words so she told Moona to pick her up and leave.

"I-I'm sorry High Priestess, but we need to go." Moona shakily told the woman who had actually helped her out before as the High Priestess once upon a time.

"Sorry, Ms. Dryad. It's important. Penny, could you stay and help explain the situation to her?" Nyatasha took charge and Penny just chirped a bit in understanding.

The cowoman and Lynxwoman dashed off again to bring the mother to her son while Penny waited for them to leave before promptly perching herself on the tree the Dryad turned into.

It took a few minutes, but eventually, the tree stirred as the Dryad poked a head out of her trunk.

"W-Will Mr. Serene Grace be alright?" the Dryad asked shyly.

"I hope so," Penny shifted herself slightly to get more comfortable as she looked ready to fall asleep, "He hasn't fertilized my eggs yet so he better not die."

After that, the two just ended up sitting in silence together like they had a mutual understanding as 'bird' and 'tree.'

The other 3 milfs eventually got back to Luna, who had already hooked Cain up to makeshift hospital equipment while also chanting her own magic into Cain's body. While she knew how to do several medical things since it was a Minor of hers back at the Academy and she spent so much time helping Cain with his own research, she was still a mage at heart.

While she may not know every medicine she should or shouldn't give him, she knew which spells could potentially stabilize him long enough for Vala to get here and find a more permanent solution.

When Vala saw her baby boy lying on the ground naked and spazzing as he constantly morphed his body unnaturally, she broke down crying and jumped off the cowoman's shoulder.

"Oh, my baby!!" She cried out as she quickly came to Cain's side and held his arm.

"Watch out!" Luna said and pushed the mother away as Cain's arm spazzed out and turned into a sharp Mantis forearm that shot out at lightning speed, just barely grazing Vala.

Luna yelped in pain as the bones in her hands were shattered from taking the hit but she gritted her teeth while growling and focused her attention on something else.

"He's harming himself but he is still dangerous to all of us if you get too close." Luna said to bring the mother out of her stupor.

She kept her distance a bit as she saw Cain struggle to turn toward her and smile. Her heart ached as she cried and Luna had to slap her to wake her up. The slap was loud and probably hurt, surprising everyone but it was necessary.

"Mrs. Alderman, no Vala. If what you told me before about your family is true, you are our only hope of saving your son."

Vala held her cheek in pain as she thought back to the talk she had with Luna about her and her family's secrets she had yet to tell Cain. Part of her never wanted to reveal that dark side of her life but when she looked at her son's depressing figure, she wavered no longer.

"W-What do I need to do?" She asked with confidence.

"You need to lose a lot of blood." Luna said as she quickly took an IV catheter and jabbed it into the inside of her elbow.
