Chapter 3: Rat?

Special Prison For Villain Criminals - Tartarus

Japan's most notorious maximum security prison for villains. Located 5 km from the mainland, in the middle of the ocean. It has a single entrance, a bridge that was guarded 24/7.

The outside of the prison was surrounded by giant walls making it impossible to climb in or out. The interior was on another level.

Steel-plated hallways, blast doors, and ceiling-mounted, automated machine guns. The prison itself is separated into 6 cell blocks depending on the danger level of the villain's quirk.

The deeper prisoners are kept, the more dangerous. The deepest level of Tartarus, B10, is 500 meters below sea level.

The more dangerous and misbehaved prisoners inside Tartarus are heavily restrained. They are tied to a high-tech chair with a full-body straitjacket. Prisoners that are well-behaved only wear a standard orange jumpsuit.

Either way, there are sensors that continuously monitor the vital functions of said prisoners, that react to even the slightest sign of unusual behavior or attempt to activate a quirk.

These sensory are linked to four ceiling-mounted, automated machineguns, similar to the ones in the halls, that will fire on the prisoner if they suddenly move or have thoughts of activating their quirk.

Along with constantly being watched by highly skilled guards, they are also monitored from an off-facility room with several screens displaying the inside of cells, where they are alerted to movement and speaking from prisoners.

This dreadful place is where Rumi and Nao were on their way to.

"Hey, Rumi, how do you think she will react?"

"She'll be happy for you. She may hate the hero society and the darkness that comes with it, but she could never hate you. So don't worry."

"Thanks."

After going through the hassle of checking in, Rumi and Nao found themselves sitting in one of the visiting rooms, a room they were well acquainted with.

It didn't take long for the guards to transport the person they came to see, Kaina Tsutsumi.

Calling her beautiful would be an understatement. She was a tall, curvaceous woman, who had short blue hair with streaks of pink, and if he was being honest, she is why Nao has the taste in women he does.

As soon as she saw Nao, her once expressionless face did a complete 180. The smile she gave him would make anyone fall in love with her.

The guards who watch her were always baffled when they saw her switch in personality when Nao visited her.

Nao POV

God, that smile.

"Hey, sis. How was your week?"

"Hehe, the same as always, though I'm doing better now that you're here..."

"...Tell me about your week. I wanna hear how your dates with Rumi and Toru went. It's the best entertainment I have. Not having T.V or books sucks."

"Sure, but first, I have something to tell you... I got accepted into U.A."

"Really, that's great. You'll make a great hero. 'Far better than I ever was."

"Are you not mad at me for trying to be a hero?"

"Of course not. I could never be mad at you."

General POV

Rumi and Nao wished they could have spent more time with Kaina, but unfortunately, Tartarus had strict rules, and they could only talk to her for an hour.

As they were nearing the exit, Rumi and Nao were stopped by none other than the warden.

"Usagiyama Rumi, Eto Na. If you would please come with me, there is someone who would like to meet you."

Following the man to his office, they were surprised to see who was waiting for them.

Rumi and Nao were surprised for very different reasons. For Rumi, it was because she saw the last person she would expect to see, and Nao was surprised to see what looked like a mouse/bear/dog thing casually sipping on a cup of tea.

After showing them to the room, the warden promptly left them alone to discuss in private.

"Tsk, Nezu. What are you doing here?"

"Hah~ That's good tea. No need to be like that, Rumi. I was curious, was all. When I found out one of my future students regularly visited a dangerous criminal, I came to make sure nothing bad was happening."

"Students?"

"That's right. It's me, Nezu, the one who could be a dog or a mouse or a bear, but more importantly... I'm the principal of U.A. University!"

"..."

"Anyway. Young man, I was watching your visit with Tsutsumi Kaina, the villain known as Lady Nagant. At first, I was worried that a future student was visiting a dangerous villain, but after seeing how she behaves with you, it seems I was worried for nothing."

"Stop calling her that. You and I both know she's not a villain."

Nezu gave a quick glance towards Rumi before looking back to Nao.

"Hmm. I can see why Rumi likes you. You're just as aggressive as her. But that's not why I wanted to talk to you. What if I said Tsutsumi Kaina could be free from Tartarus?"

Nao, hearing what the white rat had said, was speechless. In his free time and with help from Rumi. Nao had been searching for ways to get Kaina out of Tartarus. Thanks to Rumi, Nao knew that Kaina's incarceration wasn't simple. The HPSC, or The Hero Public Safety Commission, had something to do with it. Trying to get dirt on them proved fruitless so far.

"What's the catch."

"Nothing bad, I assure you. You must convince Tsutsumi Kaina to become a teacher at U.A. She is also required to wear quirk restricting anklets at all times unless given express permission. And she is required to live on the U.A. campus with you as a roommate. After having heard about and seen how she acts with you, I don't think you would mind. Do you think you can do it?"

"What about The HPSC?"

Showing a very sadistic smile, Nezu was shaking, just thinking about what he had planned.

"Don't worry about them; they won't be a problem."
