Chapter 7: Raven

Her heart raced and her mind whirled, she was not the same little girl that he could chase and tackle to the ground, yet here they were again just like old times. Except they were not in his colourful gardens at his mansion, instead she was running through a dark and dreary alleyway.

Of all the people in the City why did she have to bump into Angelo fucking Russo she thought, why would he even be in an art gallery didn't he have bigger fish to fry or fillet depending on weather he was doing legal or illegal business she thought.

She had not known Elena's husband was Luca her old childhood friend nor that she would bring Angelo in tow to her exhibition this evening. All she wanted was peace, she had to disappear before she got dragged into a world she fled from.

That was her past and all she wanted in her future was to paint and feel free, yet she never truly felt freedom.

She huffed and puffed as she ran down the darkening alley, "God why am I so unfit!" She mumbled as she ran and threw herself against the cold damp wall.

She heard feet catching up with her then... silence they had stopped short of her; she whirled round and saw Angelo. He had the same stunning smile and dimples on his face that she once loved... still loved.

He was taller now, she barely reached his chest and where he once had rounded cheeks, he now had a strong chiselled jaw and sharp features. His eyes are deep hazel pools, so warm she wanted to dive straight into them.

They stared at one another catching their breath.

"La mia abla." Angel whispered. Those words where sweet and dripped in syrup.

That term of endearment, hit her and muddled her head. She shook her head, no she couldn't do this. "My name is Raven!" She announced glaring at him.

Angelo chuckled, he actually laughed. "No matter what you decide to call yourself you will always be la mia abla to me."

Her heart thumped and she worried it was loud enough for him to hear, he stalked towards her like a hungry panther, and she glanced around his body looking for an escape.

"No. No more running. Now I have you in my sights again you are coming home with me" He demanded.

He then caged her within his arms against the cold damp wall, she felt her heart race even faster being so close to him. His masculine scent of leather and cedar filled her senses and clouded her mind.

Strong arms then lifted her up in one easy swoop and she was princess carried in his arms once again, just like old times. Except it wasn't old times.

"I don't have a home." She whispered more to herself than Angelo. Her fight was forgotten in the familiarity of his embrace.

He was about to reply when she saw his gigantic car in front of her, a driver waiting with an open door. No this was all happening so fast, she wiggled and jumped down, thankful now that she wore casual clothing and not those clingy dresses Milo had bought her.

Once her feet hit the ground, she took off running again.

There was no sound of feet following her just his words that danced on the breeze as it whistled past her ears.

"I shall see you tomorrow morning la mia alba." His deep voice hit her heart searing it.

Her mind raced, don't call me that name, please leave me in my solace she thought.

She ran home pushing herself, her legs hurting and the cold air filling her chest the rain had started to pelt down onto her and by the time she reached her small apartment she was soaked right through.

Her hands shook as she reached for her key and trembled as she opened her front door. Once inside she quickly closed the door and fell to the ground placing her head onto her knees, she hugged herself.

After a long while she stood up cold and soaked through, she glanced around. This was her safe place and now she had to move again.

She walked to her bedroom and crawled into bed covering herself with her duvet, she wanted to block out the world. Tomorrow she would leave her sanctuary and start all over again, she could live with either of her two friends for now. If she didn't move, she feared for her heart and her sanity.

"Angelo." She whispered into the darkness. She hadn't spoken his name out loud in years afraid of the feelings it may stir inside her.

And although it may hurt her in the long run, she had longed to be in his embrace again. In his warm embrace encased his strong muscles she felt safe and comforted.

What followed those feelings though was the dark truth that was he was still the head of the mafia, she couldn't be drawn into that life again.
