Chapter 7: Entering Polis

(I've been away for a long time lmao, but i'm gonna try to keep it up. English isn't my first language so sometimes it's difficult to make it readable so I decided to try and use some tools to make it more readable)

After subduing the grounders, I loaded them onto the back of my cart and continued traveling all day until I set up camp for the night. While setting up camp, I heard a groan and noticed that one of the grounders had regained consciousness.

"Hello there, sir," I greeted the grounder. He appeared confused and wary of me.

"Where am I?" he asked.

"You're currently at a campsite I set up. I believe we're close to Polis, and your friends are still unconscious," I replied. The grounder nodded slowly, still looking apprehensive. I decided to ask for his name.

"What's your name?" I inquired.

"My name is Eiton," the grounder replied. We spoke a bit more, and I even asked if he knew English, which he did. I offered him some cooked meat to eat, which he gladly accepted.

The next day, the rest of the grounders woke up and introduced themselves as Penn, Axel, Siera, and Lenny. They inquired about my search for a settlement, and I explained that I wanted to trade as I had my own farm. As I had suspected, they confirmed that we were nearing Polis and that we needed to travel for around two more hours.

(Two hour time skip)

As we entered the ruined city, I couldn't help but notice its lingering beauty. One of the grounders on the cart spoke up, pointing to the largest building in the distance.

"The commander can be found there. Best of luck to you," he said.

"Thank you, my friend. Until we meet again," I replied, nodding respectfully as they left.

As I walked towards the building, I drew various looks - some with wonder, perhaps due to my peculiar armor or my protruding ears. As I approached, a guard met me with curious eyes.

"Good day. I'm here to discuss a trade agreement with the commander. Can you inform her of my arrival?" I asked in English.

"First, I need to know who you are, and for safety reasons, I'll need you to surrender your weapons," he replied.

Understanding the necessity, I complied and introduced myself. "My name is Eredhon Greenleaf, and I hail from a small settlement in the forest miles away from here."

"A settlement, you say?" someone interjected from the side (That totally wasn't Preston Garvey)

Ignoring the interruption, I continued, "May I see the commander now?"

"Welcome, Eredhon Greenleaf. I am Laya, and you may see the commander " she said.
