Chapter 2: Reactions
Robert's POV
King's Landing
Chaos
That is what should be used to describe what is going on now in the small council meeting, there are shouts, arguments, threats and denials between all the people present in the room.
There was small council meeting ongoing before all these events occurred, King Robert was trying to handle a few issues before he goes to the sept to pay his respects to Jon Arryn, the man who fostered him when he was a child and the same man who was his hand and handling almost all of his work for him, that was the least he could do for him because of how he loved the man.
He wanted to settle a few issues before he left for the North to convince his brother in all but blood, Ned to become his hand so that he could drink and fuck himself to his early grave, Ned was the only man he could trust now as all of King's Landing is a snake with everyone scheming against each other.
His wife had suggested her father, or one of her uncles, but he would not agree to that, he was tired of seeing Lannisters everywhere, his wife is a Lannister, one of his kings guard is a Lannister, all of his legitimate children look like Lannisters, his squire is a Lannister, hell most of guards are Lannister men, he was tired of seeing those golden haired sh*ts all around him and all the Lannisters look like they've got a stick shoved up their as*es.
Robert feels like all the Lannisters are power hungry sh*ts and they are trying to take over everything, he was tired of his wife's nagging and does not want another Lannister around him, he needed Ned here, but with what just happened, he will have to delay going to the North for now.
What just happened now terrified him, 'Is the work of the gods?'. 'Which of the gods then?'. These questions he did not know the answer to, but now a flame began to burn in his heart, he feels hope and excitement because if the voice is correct he could resurrect Lyanna, 'My Lyanna'.
All he has to do is to rank on the list and answer some questions then he will be able to resurrect his Lyanna.
He truly believed that this voice and the scroll were things that the gods did, he did not believe that any soccerer, mage or red priest can do something of this level, those ones could only do a few tricks like Thoros the red priest.
After those events, all the king's guard, his children, Cersei, the Hound, his brother Renly, Loras Tyrell, and his squire all together with the majority arguing loudly with Pycelle loudly denying it was the gods that did it and saying that we should ignore it as it was a mummers ploy.
"Enough!" "Shut up! All of you!". I've had enough of this, " Pycelle! You want to say that the shaking of the entire Red Keep and King's Landing was due to a mummers farce too! Don't speak if you don't have anything good to say!" He takes in a deep breath and continues "I say this is an opportunity, we are very important therefore at least one of us here will called and this is an opportunity, I willing to buy any of the rewards you gain from the rankings, you have to do well, this is very important".
'Very soon Lyanna, very soon Lyanna, I will bring you back to life and then you will be my wife, very soon'.
General POV
What happened in the past few minutes had just shaken the world view of everyone present in the small council, the fact that something so mystical that they could not comprehend easily did not sit so well with them, they had been at the top of the seven kingdoms, controlled the lives of many yet that pressure managed to make them feel afraid, small and weak, all of them did not like that in any way.
The fact that if an enemy of theirs gain power from list or is chosen to answer questions by the list, then they will be suppressed or killed by their enemies or even betrayed by their own allies in order to curry favour with their enemies, some have started making contingency plans or plans to ally with whoever would be chosen by the list.
But several of the small council members like Petyr Baelish the master of coin and Varys the master of whispers felt this was a danger to their plans; What if the scroll ask them questions regarding their plan or ask other people questions that can lead to their plans getting derailed or them losing their heads immediately they would have to be very careful.
If one of their enemies or someone else gets to resurrect someone like Rhaenys, Rhaegar or gods forbid it Lyanna, all their plots will fall into chaos and be ruined, but at the same time they felt it was an opportunity for them.
If they manage to get some rewards, they will to progress greatly and succeed in many of their plans.
This was an opportunity they definately could not miss, soon the list will begin and they will be called they shall have their chance.
Time passed very quickly and they all moved to the biggest courtyard in the Keep except for Varys and Littlefinger who stayed close so that they can see the list and if they are chosen and get a reward they can prepare for any surprises before they are discovered and also curry favours with the chosen ones while other people gathered together in the courtyard so that they can watch the list and see who will be called upon by the list and how they would answer the questions.
When the courtyard just about filled up, the voice sounded out again.
"THE FIRST LIST BEGINS!!!".
