Chapter 50: The Hive !
Maria looked at Ayden for a moment before letting him pass and following him. Ayden took out his scroll and activated the flashlight function to illuminate the cave which was plunged into shadow.
They walked for quite a while going deeper and deeper into the cave, the longer they walked the more the symbol on Ayden's hand vibrated and glowed.
They stopped when they heard noises in front of them, sudden shrill and high-pitched cries resonated in the cave and a dozen humanoid creatures emerged from the shadows and rushed towards Ayden and Maria.
Maria: "What... what are these things!!!!"
Ayden: "....Thralls..."
Maria took her cane and activated the blade hidden within and Ayden was about to activate his gloves when the symbol on his hand created a wave of energy that swept through the cavern.
When the wave of energy passed through the thralls they stopped immediately. Maria and Ayden were surprised to see them stop so suddenly. The thralls stared at each other but didn't move.
Ayden began to advance towards them while remaining on his guard under the shocked gaze of Maria who whispered to him.
Maria: "What are you doing!"
Ayden didn't answer him and kept walking forward until he came to the front of the thralls who didn't attack him but instead did something he didn't expect.
They step aside to let Ayden pass.
Ayden: "Hmmm...."
Ayden turned to maria and told her to come.
Maria: "You're serious!"
Ayden: "It's up to you, you can come or stay here with them while I continue."
Maria hesitated for a moment before finally following Ayden, when she came in front of the thralls they turned to her, one of them leaned over and started sniffing her, she gently pushed his head away with one hand.
Maria: "Nice creature....don't move!" she said with a trembling voice.
It made Ayden smile, hearing her call the hive nice when she had no idea what kind of species the hive really is.
they continued to advance while being accompanied by the thralls.
Maria: "Why are they following us?"
Ayden: "Because they sense your fear."
Maria turned to Ayden and saw a smile on his face.
Maria: "Do you really think it's a good time to joke around?"
Ayden: "Sorry sorry."
Maria: "But... what are these creatures and how do you know about them?"
Ayden: Too long to explain, I'll tell you later for now let's continue."
They continued to progress through the cave when they saw what looked like an exit from the long corridor of the cave. They got out and what they saw made them drop their jaws to the ground.
The exit led to a gigantic cave and at the bottom of this cave were hundreds or even thousands of members of the hive, their cries echoed throughout the cave.
Maria: "What in Remnant is that!"
Ayden: "A hive nesting ground....."
He didn't know how long ago the hive arrived on Remnant or how they got there, although he suspects that the Goddess of Discord had something to do with it.
They took a path that led directly to the bottom of the cave.
Maria: "Are you sure it's a good idea...."
Ayden: "I don't know, just be on your guard just in case."
When they got down ayden could see hundreds of thralls as well as other types of hive members
The acolytes who were the base soldiers of the hive with their energy weapons.
The knights, much larger and more robust. They were the hive's elite soldiers, some using large energy cannons while others used swords.
Wizards, as their name suggests, possess the ability to use ancient hive magic.
Ogres are huge monsters with an appearance similar to thralls but much larger and more powerful capable of shooting energy beams from their foreheads and endowed with incredible strength.
Everyone turned to Ayden and Maria when they arrived but they didn't attack them. they watched them slowly approach.
The symbol on Ayden's hand glowed brighter and brighter. that Maria ended up noticing.
Maria: "What's that symbol on your hand?"
Ayden: "That's what keeps us alive so far...."
Maria looked at him with a puzzled look. Ayden knew very well that the symbol on his hand had something to do with the behavior of the hive because in reality if he didn't have it all the members of the hive would rush to kill them.
A question comes to the mind of Ayden, who leads this giant group of the hive, there is always an individual stronger than the others who leads but he did not see any members of the hive in front of him standing out.
While he was deep in thought, noises echoed further into the cave. He turned to the source of the noise and could see several members of the hive looking at something instead of looking at Ayden and Maria, the noises were very familiar to him, they were the sounds of a fight.
Ayden's mind: Looks like I'll have my answer!"
Ayden turned to Maria and motioned for her to follow him. They made their way through the hive to get to where the fight was taking place.
When they arrived ayden was surprised to see who was fighting, it was two giant knights that ayden knew well.
One looked like his body was made of lava with a giant sword also looking like lava. (Zulmak, Instrument of Torment)
The other had dark armor and a uniquely shaped white helmet, he had strips of red cloth hanging over his shoulders and he fought with a large black axe. (Alak-Hul, the Darkblade)
The impact of their weapons echoed throughout the cave as the rest of the hive members watched.
Maria: "What's going on? What are they doing?"
Ayden: "They are fighting over who will command this hive army..."
Aydens knew this sort of thing was common among the hive but what worried him was that if one of them took control of the hive knowing the hive's tendency to slaughter entire species to take control of their planet, Remnant was in far worse danger than with salem and his grimms.
He pondered what he could do as the fighter continued, suddenly he felt Crota's sword vibrate violently behind him as if trying to tell him something.
Suddenly his eyes widened in surprise and then he closed them.
Ayden: "Hmph....Alright I got what you wanted."
He turned to Maria and told her to wait here.
Maria: "Wait... where are you going?
Ayden walked over to zulmak and alak-hul under maria's shocked gaze.
When he arrived towards them the two knights stopped noticing his presence, they turned to him their eyes plunged into his.
Ayden was really small compared to the two juggernauts standing in front of him. He took the attached sword from behind his waist and brandished it. The bandages that covered her began to burn and ended up completely consumed by red and golden flames revealing Crota's blade.
Suddenly the whole hive started to roar in unison as if they recognized who this sword belonged to. Alak-Hul and zulmak growled at the sight of the sword.
Ayden took the sword with both hands and stuck it in the ground.
Ayden: "It's time to rebalance the sizes!"
Suddenly a torrent of golden energy erupted from the blade and enveloped Ayden completely. The energy began to take shape taking the form of Crota himself as well as his complementary sword made of golden energy with red reflections in certain places like the susanoo in naruto.
Ayden was in his chest levitating sword in hand.
Ayden: "Well, let's begin!"
Maria looked at the scene completely shocked."
Maria: "Don't tell me he's going to do what I think!"
