Chapter 2: Feyra, the Raven Knight

---

PoV: Feyra

---

I looked around, my gaze landing on each of my squad members.

Leon, a Knight renowned for his skill with Aura, and a serious man. He was riddled with scars, and he was old. His crimson armor was simple, the only elaborate element was his roaring lions head pauldron, the symbol of his Knighthood. Wiping his mace off on his lap, he made small, gentle movements, a steep contrast to his hulking frame.

Gia, a Knight who was raised by the church. Her long silver hair fell onto her white armor. Inscribed on every piece in silver was scripture. Her symbol was the gentle face of a woman; specifically, the first Saintess. Her hands clasped in prayer, her mouth moved silently. Slung over her back was a staff, which she used to channel her Aura into spells.

Sif, a Knight from the north. Her gold hair was pulled into a braid, and a long scar trailed from her cheek down to her neck. Her armor was green, with golden runes inscribed randomly on the surface. A gold wolf was her symbol. She was cleaning the small buckler she used in tandem with the long spear, which was stuck into the forest floor.

Finally, there was Morian, a cheerful looking man from the capital. His armor was a dull gold, tallies inscribed in various places. The demon mask on his shoulder was his symbol, contrasting his innocent appearance. Two short swords hung on his belt, and he was currently reading a small book. His eyes would flit towards me every few moments, and when he saw me looking at him he met my gaze, giving me a warm smile.

Ignoring him, I looked down at my black gauntlets. Taking a deep breath, I closed my eyes, deciding to get some rest while I could.

My squad, Knight Squad Zeta, was tasked with ending a war on our eastern border.

Simple, right?

Sadly, the enemy wasn't just the Humans of the Romagi Empire; instead we were faced with them and hordes of undead they had created.

I wanted nothing more than to ignore this mission. I had finally managed to track her down, after all these years.

In this life, it had been fourteen years. However, in reality, I hadn't seen her in well over a few centuries.

Remembering my previous life, I sighed.

"Oh? What has the feared Raven Knight Feyra sighing?"

Hearing Morian's cheerful voice, I looked up.

My entire squad had stopped what they were doing, looking at me.

"Nothing. I just want this mission to end quickly. I have things I need to do..."

Hearing that, they all continued to look at me, before going back to what they were doing.

Morian narrowed his eyes, asking "Does this have anything to do with that mortal?"

Hearing that, I stared at him, staying silent.

Squirming after a few moments, Morian looked away, a wry smile on his lips.

Closing my eyes again, I waited for the signal, so that I could start.

~~~
Hearing a loud 'BOOM!', my eyes shot open. Grabbing the large claymore beside me, I stood up. Looking at my squad, I nodded when saw that they were ready.
Without a word I made my way to the designated area, silently passing through the forest.
The area that we were traveling to was a cave system that leads to the border city Sicilia.
It would be guarded by hordes of undead as well as a few squads of veteran Romagi soldiers.
Against a squad of Knights though, this was nothing.
Cresting a small hill, I looked down a ravine, seeing the entrance of the caves. Dozens of undead shambled around.
"So? Are we charging in or taking this slow?"
Hearing Sif's gruff voice, I pursed my lips.
"Charge in. Let's get this done."
Saying so, I stepped off the edge, dropping into the ravine. Spreading Aura around my legs, I absorbed the impact.
Hearing the consecutive crashes, the undead turned towards us, before screaming and rushing towards us.
Raising my claymore, I dashed forwards, swinging the blade.
My squad followed suit.
Leon crushed their bodies, Sif bisected and impaled them, and Moiran weaved between the undead, slicing and stabbing. Hearing the familiar 'woosh', I watched as a small fireball pierced the skull of an undead, before another followed suit.
We slaughtered our way through the undead, our armor coated in blood and gore.
Entering the cave system, Gia created more fireballs, having them hover ahead of us, lighting the way.
Leon led the way, following the well tread path as well as clearing any undead in his way.
Bringing up the rear, I spread my senses behind us. I had strapped my claymore on my back, as it was to large for the enclosed tunnels.
Some undead would stumble in from other tunnels, and would run towards us, but I simply slammed them into the floor, crushing them.
Eventually, we made it to the first Veteran Squad.
Ten men and women, dressed in leather armor with some metal plates covering vital areas, they all carried large shields and shortspears.
Seeing us, they quickly created a shield wall, placing their spears in-between the gaps.
"Sif, show them how to use a spear."
Grunting, she dashed forwards, lancing her spear between a gap, skewering a man. Pulling her spear back, she continued to attack from afar, controlling her spear with great precision.
Only a few moments had passed, yet ten corpses laid on the ground. Growling, Sif, returned to the line.
Continuing on, we slowly eradicated hundreds of undead and a few more squads, before eventually reaching a ladder.
Looking at my squad, I said "Once we go up, there is no going back. We will be moving from Sicilia all the way to Roma, before taking the Emperor's head. Make any preparations now, because once we go up we will be facing an entire city..."
A bit short, but I plan on her next chapter being a long one.
Anyways, here we are; both the MC's are introduced, but not to much is known yet...
