Chapter 14: Mr Goodman
Brie stayed in the hospital until the doctor came out and told her Anthony Is fine but still asleep if she wanna see him okay she comes inside. Brie looked at the mirror and dressed her hair fine before stepping inside soberly and quiet looking at him heartbroken with self-pity that he doesn't deserve this, not everyone takes loss lightly his father must be very dear to him which makes her wonder why he never speaks of him, she went closer to him feeling his hands when he starts muttering something, he started with word to word but it sounds the same.
Brie looked scared well people talks in their sleep probably that's what they are doing, it became really serious when he repeated it loudly, Brie came to realize he was calling his ex-girlfriend name, she thought it was like some kind of a joke it wasn't it became more serious she had to call for the doctor they came in quickly, they examined him suddenly medically became quiet he slowly opens his eyes excitement lits on Brie face she came closer to him, he was still struggling to open his eyes.
"Thank goodness you're here love" he mutter Brie nods her head positively coming close to him again when he finally says out his ex-girlfriend's name without realizing it was Brie.
"Is Bridget" she reminded him he heard her correctly and stop muttering.
"What is she doing here I don't wanna see her" he angrily looked at the nurses who stood beside him on his right then back to Brie who was on his left the angry face didn't disappear it became worst when he looked at her, Brie look so confused the doctor asked her if she's sure she's one of Anthony relative she showed them their pictures together.
"I know who she is, she ruin my life I wouldn't have any contact with her please send her out" the doctor send Brie out to wait in the visitor room, the doctor confirmed he was okay and had not lost his memory or minds, Anthony gave them his ex-girlfriend number to call.
The doctor took Brie to his office and questioned her a little bit, she looked heartbroken after explaining everything to her including showing Anthony's medical reports confirmed he is normal. He dialed the number and called it in front of Brie he asked if is okay for her to stay she accepted to stay, the line rings three times before she finally picks up.
"When you called once and you did not get a response your common sense should tell you I'm rather busy or not around but nope you have decided to ruin my day with your godforsaken call don't you have a life-
"Sorry miss this is LIFE HOSPITAL calling" there was a silent end on the call like she was shocked or something.
"I am sorry, I thought it was one of my stalkers. My mother did not call work today or.....
she apologized and politely asked because her mother is a nurse.
"No, is about Anthony he is sick and wants to see you," the doctor said from his end of the call.
"I'm sorry doctor his girlfriend works in TRUNTS hold I will forward your call to the customer care line- the doctor cut in sharply saying she doesn't have to do that, she's here but he insisted on seeing her.
"Well Is not my fault doctor I don't have anything to do with Anthony is a good thing his girlfriend is there they can figure it out together, I don't even care if he dies I dumped his ass a long time ago" the line beep, hung off.
"Did she do that, call her again- the doctor refuses.
"She's not going to come she's just like her mother, you need to call any of his relatives aside from his girlfriend-
"His mom is sick as well, I will take care of him" the doctor look surprised he told her he doesn't want to see her.
"I will tell him she asked me to take care of him, for the weekend I can't go back today leaving him alone when there is no one to take care of him".
The doctor appreciates her kind gesture so he has no choice other than to let her take care of him like she promised to leave right after the weekend.

Jade paid the cab man got down quickly like she's been chased she accidentally kicked can of trash annoyingly she kicked it away it hits someone walking.
"Hey watch out loser" he warned!!! jade ignore him getting to her door, she took the keys from her purse and immediately inserted them into the keyhole it refuse to open.
"What the hell" she yelled forcefully opening the door when Kelvin cut in from behind offering to help, jade screamed Jesus Christ placing her hand on her chest.
"You creepy fool what are you doing here for God's sake how many times do I have to tell you to stop showing up here, did you pay for my rent or...
She stops staring at him in the dark he was dark skinned so she can barely see his face however she knows what he looks like.
"You haven't been returning my calls, leaving my texts unread where the hell did you go"? He asked still standing in the shadows, he even has the audacity to complain woah so pissed off tasting the taste of his own medicine, all that jade want to do is cry out so loud and now she was not gonna do that anymore.
"Why do I have to call you kelvin, how many times do I have to tell you is over do you need me to say it in Spanish or what" she speaks so loud like if she doesn't scream she wouldn't hear herself, literally it was the anger!!!!
"Don't use that tone with me is not my fault you have a bad day, have been checking up on you for a week now I wanted to apologize to you" jade turned to her door inserting the keys again this time it worked he must be really stupid thinking she is going to buy that crap so desperate to get in between her legs as far as she is concerned that's not happening anytime soon.
jade slam the door so loud, the whole house was smelling spoilt food she covered her nose running to the bedroom her entire room stuffy, she on the switch light did not come on, she try it over like three times before it occurred to her light bills is done for the month.
"I just paid those two weeks ago" she angrily said out loud to herself before she emptied her purse everything inside of it chatter on the floor, she saw her card lying with her lipgloss she returned Clinton's card to him and left it in the front seat, she checked her phone is draining low battery she had been using it for flashlights,
"Did someone die in here" he exclaimed covering his mouth and finding his way to where jade is,
"Shut the fuck up prick" she cussed him he can hear her.
"I heard that jade-
"Why not go to hell rot ".
the smell of the spoilt drifts into the bedroom she paid for light with her phone just as she paid for the light shows. She took her charger and plugged her phone next thing her debit came in she has only two thousand nairas left, Dominic still owes her last month's salary although she left without resigning.
She walked past Kelvin to the kitchen open the kitchen cabinet brought out gloves and a face mask, took the trash bag from the same cabinet, open the freezer it was booming, it occur to her she left everything on that must have drained the entire energy.
"So you're just gonna act like you did not see me or what jade" he cut in blocking the kitchen entrance.
"You're not helping Kelvin as you can see I have a lot of work to do so if you don't mind I need a hand" jade said taking all the spoiled food outand putting them in the trash.
"What! I can't do that, is a lady's responsibility to clean the house-
"And open her legs afterward" Kelvin sigh annoyingly.
"I'm not here for sex I just want to apologize" jade chuckled taking the soaked cloth from the suds of detergent and cleaning the fridge. Does he not get tired of apologizing? She asked herself silently.
"That's why you here kelvin, no sit out, no romantic dates, no flowers you only come in when is beneficial-
"I give you money jade I mean I'm always there when you need me" he cut in sharply defending the fact.
"Nope kelvin you should leave I have told you many times we can never work, now excuse me" she walked past him with the bag of trash to put them outside in the trash can when a big flashlight is shown on her face she blocked it with one of her hand.
"Jade is that you," the voice said coming towards her she knows who he was mr Goodman the CSO of the entire estate.
"Good evening mr Goodman" he answered quickly walking as fast as he can to catch up with her jade already put the trash in the can shut it.
"I was worried about you I didn't see you like more than a week is everything okay with you," he asked his eyes could tell he was worried although jade did not look him in the eye his voice mean it all.
"I travel to see my aunt in Lagos-
"You mean London, and I did not see you taking the bus" he interjected putting one of his hands on his hip flashing lights around what she was doing.
"Yeah after Lagos I went to London, mr Goodman how did you know about this London" she smiled so it won't look obvious.
"I saw it on the paper you were at the business ball I subscribed to their newsletter on this phone of mind my daughter bought me the Latest iPhone so I saw you with a young looking man I'm proud of you" jade look speechless I mean how come mr Goodman notices her, she wonders how many people saw her she wish kelvin woulda seen her also. All he knows is cannabis and women with so many apologies he doesn't mean.
"Thanks, mr Goodman, I have a little bit of a problem in my house some dude he's refusing to leave and he's drunk as well to start with-
"Say no more I will kick his ass" jade waited outside as she watch mr Goodman drag kelvin out of the house.
"What the hell man she's my girlfriend!! Let go off me old man" the car that drove past headlights flashed across the jade face she was smiling and kelvin saw it he realize jade is up with this, mr Goodman took out his docket and pencil and then write out his car plate number.
"If you ever cross boundaries I will submit this to the police you are not going to bother miss jade anymore," he told him flashing the lights in his eyes.
"Get that goddamn lights out of my face" he kicked the tire of his car angrily pressing his car key.
"You will regret this bitch, slut" he cussed jade, mr Goodman stood there until he drove out the promise jade he was not going to show up, and if he does she shouldn't hesitate to inform him.
"Thanks, Mr. Goodman I appreciate" she walked back to the house. She resumed her cleaning after she played music in her JBL for straight two hours jade life completely get off the fact she had lost both Clinton and her bag, she looked around the house was shiny again with good smells around. She sat on the couch Clinton had sat on the first day he came to her house.
She had showered and ordered food from a fast food nearby if she's gonna die the next day because she's broke so be it, she believes Brie now like she said once you're of no use anymore they stash you out like trash, she takeout the food paper bags she had been trying as much as possible to let the music get to her yet it couldn't just then eclipse of the heart played that was the same song they played before heading to the ball jade broke down in her kitchen she sobs heavily, she couldn't decipher if it was about losing Clinton or the bag both of them were hurting, she tried calling Brie it all went to voice mails she dropped a voice note to call her back as soon as possible she was still sobbing.

Jade woke up to realize she spent the night in the kitchen her body aches from sleeping on the floor, the music still blaring this time a different Nigerian song known as Afrobeat, she slowly got up from her kitchen just as it is the lights still on, she has no idea what to do she hasn't heard from Clinton and today is another day, what if he doesn't call her back Brie has to show up she will have the best idea to offer, she looked back on her phone 100 percent charged she unplugged it unlocking it just to find out Brie hasn't called back yet.
"What's wrong" she muttered to herself she have to wait a little bit before she calls again.
