Chapter 22: I Found You!

Drake watched his office door open without hearing a knock.

Fredrick who had an annoyed look on his face walked to the fridge across to take out a bottle of orange juice in silence.

"You seem to be in high spirits". Drake added sarcastically. "Where's my report?".

The young man pointed at his head. "All stored in here". He moved to take the seat across the CEO's desk before gulping down the orange juice.

"How many times have I warned you about memorizing testimonies?". He was meant to be scolding the boy, yet his voice seemed so nonchalant.

"I tried giving this guy relationship advice, but he ended up kicking me out of his car and I didn't have any money so I had to walk all the way here!". He began ranting. "It's not like I said anything wrong". He rolled his eyes.

"Didn't you take the driver with you?".

"Yeah, but I expected to spend more time there so I sent him away, plus my phone died". He sighed. "It's not fair Drake, I'll be eighteen soon but no one takes me seriously". He dropped his head on the table before sighing.

"There there, little brother". He reached out to pat his curly brown hair. "I'll let you drink some alcohol when you turn eighteen to cheer you up".

Fredrick rolled his eyes while sitting up straight, "That's not the point". He reached for the laptop by his right before booting it. "The lady who's suspected to be the demon is being cleared by a witness. But she's very suspicious". He punched in the ten-lettered password before opening a word document to type. "There are too many loopholes from her usual life on that day".

"What's her name?". Drake turned the documents he'd been reading to the next page.

"Diane Franchester". His fingers began a marathon on the keyboard. "And her boyfriend, no - her ex-boyfriend came up as a witness although they don't seem to be on good terms".

"You sure it wasn't just a farce?".

"I don't know, but the guy seems really obsessed with her. I recognize him from the McNaught family - your rivals".

"Rivals?". His eyes moved to scan the boy with belittling eyes. "Maybe at one time".

"Whatever". Fredrick rolled his eyes as he read his notes again, his finger slowly moving over the keys, his eyes fixed on the screen. "I'll get her address from her workplace, then I'll hack into the nearest cameras to confirm how she got home that night". He leaned back in his chair. "Ohh, it's a building you recently acquired on Tilapi street".

"I can't keep track of all the buildings I own". Drake finally leaned back in his seat. He'd wanted to see all the newly acquired buildings by the end of the week, but there wasn't any space in his schedule.

"Don't worry about it". His attention went towards the screen. "I already found her apartment number and her school records". A light grin formed on his lips. "Interesting".

"You keep talking about this same woman, is she that attractive?"

"What? I'm just pissed because that guy threw me out of his car". The young man shook his head before turning the laptop. "I'm not into busty girls, they often come off as dumb".

Drake's eyes widened at the sight of the familiar face before him. "Ohh?".

"You know her?". He turned the laptop back. "She seems to have a lot of connections".

"She seems familiar, but I'm not sure". He lied before continuing his paperwork. "Email me the report by the time you get home".

Fredrick left the room without another word, leaving Drake alone with his thoughts. His mind traveled back to the last time he saw MaryJane; or Diane Franchester. She'd been ill and hadn't summoned him last night probably due to that.

Even if he was to leave her be, Fred wouldn't rest till he caught the demon.

'Such a waste'. He stroked his chin before looking out the transparent glass. Succubi were weaker demons whose only purpose was to serve. Title, wealth, and fame were terms even their ancestors could never comprehend. There were sad little beings.

He turned his seat one-eighty to focused on the city through the glass; it was filled with humans. There were hundreds, no- thousands of them swarming around like flies.

Before dimensional rifts began to appear, there was only one way to travel through realms. 'Astral Keys'. All six realms had their keys although the most common were for the human realm, the demon realm, and the underworld.

Isolated realms such as the heavenly and beast realm were rare. And there was only one key to hell whose whereabouts were unknown.

But who'd want to go there?

Although it was said that one could gain unimaginable power by striking a deal with the devil. There were many creatures much more powerful than demons or vampires.

The beast realm was where fallen gods and powerful mythical creatures resided. It was a place of confinement for creatures like Medusa.

Fortunately, only weaker demons could pass through dimensional rifts - hence making it impossible for werewolves or vampires to pass through. The creatures from the underworld that had come through the rifts couldn't be seen by humans nor could they directly harm people.

There was a knock at his door.

His brows furrowed in annoyance knowing who it was.

"Drake". Katherine came through with a stack of papers. She'd been sucking up to him recently and it was quite irritating.

She was smart and beautiful, but he didn't like scheming women. Both her and MaryJane were the same, playing the role of innocent.

He spun his chair back to face her. "I'm still your boss, Katherine". He sent her a warning look.

Her shoulders fell before walking towards his desk. "My mistake, boss." She placed the stack on top of the desk. "I would say sorry, but considering how you've treated me these past few months...". She leaned over to flaunt her cleavage while dropping the papers.

Her green eyes met with his and a sly smile formed on her face.

He looked straight at her with disgust before picking up the pile of paperwork. He knew what she was trying to do - trying to prove herself.

Of course, she didn't realize he had other things going on his schedule.

Her father, Lucian B - held the largest number of shares among other executives. And together, they'd been trying to take over by sucking up to him.

Did such a materialistic woman think he'd want to spend his life with her?

It took a few seconds before she could grasp the fact that he wasn't interested. She turned to leave deciding not to push too hard.

"Let me give you some advice, Katherine".

She paused without turning to face him. "Sir?".

"You're not even fit to warm my bed".
