Chapter 71: The Forest of Wishes (1) - 66

Standing there, my mind immediately went into hyper thinking mode, as it planned out the actions I would take to win this tournament, whilst also planning for the scenarios afterwards, as I fitted all of these plans into my fully fleshed out master plan.

If there was a way to win this unexpected tournament without damaging my original plans, then I would be all for it. But if it would cause harm to my bigger plans, then I would have to stop and think of doing something else that was even more productive during this time.

'If I were to do that... yeah no, there's only a 30% chance of success. I can't then.'

And so, right then and there, I completely gave up on trying to win the hunting tournament.

Sure, there was a pretty fair chance that I could win it as I knew where some of the mythical beasts on the estate were, specifically a few which I had a good chance of killing, but again, multiplying all the factors that came with facing the beasts with fending off others gave my chance of success too low of a probability for me to consider taking proper action.

Yes, 30% was a lot, but, for me, as long as the probability of something was under 50%, then I would never even attempt to risk it.

I wasn't a protagonist, and so I had no plot armor. Furthermore, I was actually the villain, and so my luck would be a lot worse than that of a regular person's.

So yeah, a 30% chance for an extra that had my strength was, in reality, a 0.5-1% chance for me.

A lot lower than what was actually shown on the surface, right?

Well, that just came with the status of being a villain, and so I always took it into account.

Anyways, it was basically impossible for me to actually win the tournament, so I would just do my thing and then afterwards, do the next best thing, which was to just tell my sister, who would surely win the tournament, what to do through our mental connection, which was something my mom didn't know about and so had failed to take into account.

So, I would do my thing, my sister would then win and do my bidding, and then my mom would become happy.

In the end, there was no part on any side that was lacking in this deal.

Everybody just had to do their part, and eventually, everything would turn out well in the end.

'But there's also Goh-chan.' (A/N: "Five" in Japanese. Referring to his split personality sister.)

'Whatever, if she messes something up, then so be it. Let's just go get the thing that I need before my sister stumbles on the opportunity and gets something that, although helpful, she doesn't really need with all her overpowered items and her plot armor.'

Yes, I would steal an item from the protagonist, but like, I hadn't stolen anything from the protagonist for the past 66 chapters unlike all those other cliche protagonists of reincarnated into a book novels, and so, like, I was due.

In other words, "It's about damn time!"

"Let's go."

And with that, I was off.

...

You know, you could never know when one was trying to betray you.

Of course, this was if they were doing it perfectly out of your sight, but this was a fact that I had also always taken into account.

So then, why hadn't I taken it into account in this situation?

Had I been too infatuated by her? Too absorbed by her?

No, I should use the pronoun "they" in this case.

And, unfortunately, although I was talking about betrayal, the situation I was in right now was something short of that harsh word.

It was merely my bad luck, my luck as the villain I supposed.

"Uhm, Mom, this is Lysander. Lysander, my mother."

Being the mediator in between the two of us, I would later come to realize that Nora was actually in the worse position out of all three of us.

"Good morning Ms. Helenrose, it's a nice day outside today, isn't it?"

Greeting her with perfect noble etiquette, she didn't even put me in her eyes and looked to Nora instead.

"Nora, what is the meaning of this?"

"Uhm... Mom, Lysander isn't as bad as everyone says he is..."

"HE'S THE BOY WHO KILLED YOUR BROTHER, AND THAT'S WHAT YOU SAY?"

"b-but... brother was a weirdo who always wanted to do weird things to me..."

"HE WAS STILL BLOOD FOR GOD'S SAKE!"

Watching their interaction with each other, I could only smile, as this would just drive a deeper wedge into their relationship, something that I definitely wanted.

I was also focusing on working Angel, as I had created a sound barrier as soon as I had seen the woman's face, predicting that something like this would happen, because I didn't want all the monsters in this area, and thus, all the other competitors in this area to come flocking to us.

So, after all, having predicted that something like this would have happened, I only continued to follow the plans that I had made up in an instant.

"Nora, she obviously doesn't like me, and I don't seem to like her either. So, yeah, I'll go and you guys can sort it out between yourselves."

"Ms. Helenrose, I bid you a good day and a nice wedding."

Bowing to her using the perfect posture with the least bit of formalities in it, to show my blatant disrespect to her, which she probably couldn't see anyways because she was never trained in these things and probably thought all bows looked the same, I then immediately left the scene.

Yep, I was a coward who fled with my tail between my legs, sue me for it.

I wasn't gonna just stand there, and I wasn't going to just hunt with them, due to the fact that in would definitely have been extremely annoying.

So I had just done the best thing possible in that situation.

I needed to go steal that opportunity from my sister anyways, and so I had to hurry.

The novel had never specified how long the trial would take, and how far it was away from my current position after all.

In the end, all of these factors caused me to sprint as quickly as possible towards the location of the trial grounds.

Yet, who could have ever known that there were two figures following me the entire time?
