Chapter 88: Finality - 81

At the moment, I was running whilst following the trail that my sister had left behind again, as I had gained as much insight as possible from everything that had been a variable to me.

So now, it was about time for me to follow the plan again.

It definitely wasn't because I was still a sis con after all these years...

Hey! Don't blame me, she literally still sounded exactly the same when we talked with each other over the mental connection a few days ago, even though we had been separated for years!

Then again, she was already an adult, and had been one for a long time, mentally, and so it wasn't surprising that her mind's voice still sounded the same.

And so I wondered, did I really sound the same too? Even after everything that I had done?

Once again, finding myself getting caught up in frivolous thoughts, ones that did nothing more but entertain my complex struggles for a few seconds, I focused on the "road" again.

'I'm getting closer.'

For the past hour, her tracks had definitely become fresher, tracks that my experience had revealed had been made today, after she had awoken from sleep in a peaceful camp to start another day of hunting.

But, I hadn't found any panicked or irregular tracks yet other than those of a person walking with some tangents whenever she went off to strangle a monster.

'And she's also traveling with another person.'

It was obvious how I knew this, so I wouldn't explain it.

I just followed the wide path left by them.

I would follow it until I found her.

Until I met her again.

It was as easy as that.

But then, why did I feel a burning sensation in my chest?

I kept my head down and hurried along.

...

"Clash! Clang! Swish! Slich! AAARRGGGHHH!"

Hearing the sounds of fighting as I drew closer to their location, I really didn't pick up my pace or anything, as I knew that they would be fine with her protagonist's halo and all.

And, even if they were losing, some other group would probably stumble by and help them, turning the tide in their favor.

So, I wouldn't interfere, and left myself watching the life and death battle below from a tree on the edge of the forest, bordering an open grasslands.

//Heeeeeeeyyyyyy Sis.//

//LyLy? Oh wait, give me a second.//

I mean, we had obviously entered each other's range a long time before that, but, noticing that she had kept silent, I too had kept silent, knowing that there was probably something keeping her attention away for now, and that I should respect her space.

Of course, she had felt my intentions, and thus, had instead focused on whatever task she had been doing until now, which I had soon found out was a battle that she was currently an integral part of.

She was down there, fighting with her back against the back of another teenager holding a spear, as little lite versions of me swarmed them from all sides.

She had already snuck a few glances up at me during the course of the fight, begging me with her eyes to come help her, but all she had been met with were playful tones that had teased her with purely emotions transmitted through our mental connection.

Responding in similar fashion, she sent me images of herself making silly faces over our mental connection, and I couldn't help but laugh slightly on the inside.

This wasn't because she was that funny per se, it was just that seeing those faces in my mind whilst watching her grim face with my own eyes as she slaughtered wave after wave of cloaked adversaries was really a stark contrast.

//Just tell me if you want to finish it quickly.//

I finally relaxed my stance and give her the trigger if she wanted to end the battle quickly, before assuming a lazy position on this sturdy tree branch of mine.

"Pfft!"

Seeing her raise her eyebrows like the Rock after seeing my movements was extremely funny, and thus, I inadvertently let out a little laugh.

Nah, it was actually on purpose, as she had requested my help to clean up the place as quickly as possible after being tired of, as she put it, "playing" with the shadowy people, and so here I was, laughing at a whole group of bloodthirsty people from up high on a tree.

And so, with everybody's attention on that laughing figure of mine, I immediately took this chance for a surprise attack, so that I might take out a few more a little bit earlier and end the battle a little bit quicker.

One second, I was in the tree laughing, the next second, I had disappeared and reappeared in the fray, my blade having already caught the blood of 20 shadows.

Yeah, that's what I would call them from now on, shadows.

Oh yeah, if you had been wondering, that laughing figure of me had just been an illusion I had cast using Angel, in which I had used that time to kill those 20 shadows.

I wasn't a monster after all, well, not yet, and so I really couldn't do that thing that all overpowered characters did to strike complete fear and a feeling of destruction in their opponents.

I could only run a modified version of it on my enemies, and well, it worked.

All to increase my enjoyment of the battle, the crimson blood, the soul tearing screams, the cries of pain, hehehe...

Ahh... What a wonderful sight.

It also didn't help that I knew their battle style through and through, and so I could finish a few opponents marginally faster than Eve could when facing only one opponent.

I ended up finishing the battle in a little bit less than two minutes before slowly approaching the duo.

The young man, whom I absolutely despised I might add, stood there, holding his sword towards me, his eyes wary, as I just smirked at how childish he looked.

As for my sister, it didn't seem like she could hold back anymore, with her bolting over to me and hugging me, trying to squeeze the life out of me and all.

We just stood there, embracing each other, enjoying the other's company like we had done so many time before, as we pushed away from each other a little bit before placing our foreheads against the other's, our palms on each other's cheeks, holding them dearly.

Even the light of the blood moon and the actual ocean of blood on our bodies and clothes couldn't hide or damper our expressions full of love for each other.

//Wait, am I shorter than you?//

Silence.

//Fuc...//

//You better not continue.//

Looking UP at her and in the eye, I twisted my face into an expression of mock anger.

"Phuahahahahahahaha!"

We smiled and then laughed at a joke only known to us, our foreheads touching, our faces brighter than the goddess that night.
