Chapter 11: "I don't know you, You don't know me!"
The wedding was over. The guests were gone. The decorations stayed intact. Bride's family had left. Groom's mother was resting. Arya's room now had a new member. The fireplace inside the room was lit. Crackling sounds of twigs were coming from it. The room was moderately lit for a comfortable night. Wedding day is not easy. The room had a new fragrance now, Arya realised.
Maya was using the washroom. Her luggage was laid on the bed, open. Arya was sitting near the fireplace, his hands clasped. The shower was now running for a long time and dripping of water could be heard from the bathroom.
"I need to use it too" Arya murmured.
There was no sign of Maya coming out. Arya was now all ready to knock the door and stepped towards it.
"Ahem" he cleared his throat. "I need it to use it, may I know how long it will take you?" he asked gently. No response. Not getting any response made Arya think that the girl might be arrogant in nature. He went back to the fireplace and tuned into his iPod to pass the time. He had entered his zone now. The music took over him, instantaneously after a tiring day. The visuals of the wedding flooded his mind. The violins, the prop, the flower girls, the smiles.
With his eyes closed, Arya was getting jitters in his stomach as he realised that he was now married. He never thought he would get married after Jay's death. But now, he was and that too with a girl. A girl! His eyes suddenly opened. He checked the clock. Half an hour has passed and Maya was still inside, showering.
"Me shampooing, or scrubbing, has to do with some sound to the least. Why is there no sound at all apart from that of the shower? " Arya thought to himself. He got up and knocked the door. "Are you alright? " He asked.
No response again.
"Please open the door, I need to see if everything is alright! " He said again. No sound at all again made him lose his patience and he now held the door knob to open. It was Locked!
"Locked from inside?" Arya murmured.
"Enough, I am coming in" He was now kicking hard on the door, to open. It took him three kicks and the door was unlocked. He entered.
*SHOCKED*
There was no one under the shower.
"What?" Arya asked himself startlingly. He tried to brainstorm how could this happen and then realised.. "She entered the room before me. When I came, all I could hear was the shower running. She wasn't here the whole time! "
He stormed out of the room. "How dare she do all these on the very first day?" He angrily murmured while climbing down the stairs. He looked for her everywhere now. The living room, the kitchen, the backyard, Maya was nowhere to be found. He gave a final try inside Stella's room, awaking whom was the last thing on his mind. Maya was not there too.
"Where is this girl? " Confused, Arya left the house in search for her. He took his Mom's car. He drove the car on a high speed as there wasn't anyone around the streets. It was around 12 o'clock in the morning. As his car drove beside the lake, his eyes fell upon someone. A girl.
"Who's that? " He exclaimed. He lowered his car glass and shouted, "Maya? Hey!" The girl was not responding. He called again, "Is it you Maya? Answer please, Look, it's me Arya".
The girl turned around. Indeed, It was Maya. She looked very tired from far. Arya parked his car and ran towards her. As he came near her, his senses made him realise that they were at the lake area. He took a glance at her from top to toe.
"What? What brings you here?" He asked this and then showed her his watch. "Can you see?". Maya was in tears. Arya stopped.
"I don't know you, You don't know me!" Maya said. Arya's eyebrows raised in curiosity. "Do you still expect me to spend the night with you?I am here, relaxing myself." She answered. "Relaxing?" Arya countered. "Your ways of relaxing is astonishing. You left the shower on for which I thought you were in there.You leaving the house like this, can disrupt our peace Miss."
"Fighting on the very first night" Maya whispered.
