Chapter 6: Green Town with Green People

With the help of Gero, the three arrived at Green Town two days shorter than Leo expected. Truly Gero knew the forest as he kept the party safe, with only some stray animals here and there.

Leo saw the golden fields filled with tall crops on the horizon as their group walked to the town. Peasants armed with pikes and farm tools are guarding tall wooden fences at the entrance of the town, adding a comical feeling when seen afar. Pits and traps were being made all over the field as thousands of townsfolk put their hope of survival into every little trap they were making. Still, Leo couldn't help but secretly shake his head the moment he saw the scene.

The trio made their way to the entrance as Gero greeted his acquaintance.

"Gero! Took you too long to get your rusty arse back!" An old man guarding the entrance shouted as he saw Gero with his cart.

"Well, at least I brought the finest of branches! Look here, this one is from a thousand-year-old tree..." Gero started boasting as more people draw near his cart.

One of them spotted Leo and Elizabeth who were dressed oddly, standing at the back.

"Gero! Who are those two!?" One man shouted as he eyed Leo and Elizabeth suspiciously.

"Oh! Dear me, I almost forgot. This one is Leo and this one is Beth! They are adventurers who I stumbled on the road. They have great skills and would be a great help to the Kobold invasion!" Gero announced to the people nearby.

The people looked at the duo. Leo with his sword and dirty armor, along with his burly build and menacing-looking face is without no doubt, a warrior. But the girl beside him? The hood maybe able to hide her face, but her perfectly proportionate body were clearly displayed. Which is why some men with bad intentions draw near the duo.

A one-eyed man, a head taller than Leo spoke to them.

"Do ya brats know that it's forbidden to stay here? But if the miss comes with us to help with a few... Servicing, yah know." The other men chortled.

"Then maybe you and the dog here can stay for a couple of nights, hehe." The one-eyed man said as he tried to take off the hood of the girl.

"I advise you not to do that," Leo said.

"I advise you to cut your d*ck, you son of a whore. Shut up and follow if you don't want to get chopped hehehe." The one-eyed man said menacingly.

"Oh well, I tried." Leo just shrugged in response.

Suddenly, Elizabeth delivered a punch to the throat of the man.

"Urck! Kak!" The man dropped to the ground groveling, his hands at his neck as he struggled to breathe. Afterward, Elizabeth delivered a mighty kick at his nether regions, the sound so loud, that it made all the other men including Leo, pale at the sight.

"Ohhh!" The crowd gasps, with others mumbling.

'It's better not to mess with the lady.' Leo made a mental note.

With his mouth foaming, the unfortunate man collapsed, along with the bravery of the other men. No one wants to risk their livelihood over a piece of hot chili pie. As such Leo and Gero entered the town, with no such difficulty.

+ + +

The Town of Green was established by a native tribe called Green Tribe (as expected). The tribe was isolated in the forest for over a millennium, which is why the tribe was known to house great hunters. 60% of the people in this continent worship Baric, the God of Nature, but the Green Tribe worships Trojan, the God of Trees. Some numerous tribes and religions worship subsidiary gods like the Vikings of the south who worships Oceanos, the God of Ocean. The dwarves of the east worship Ridia, God of Earth. Solians, who looks like ghost, worships Solivan, the God of Calamity, and so on. The Baric believers, or Baricians, though believe that all other gods are just pseudonyms, or just part of Baric, the one true God.

But right now, Leo has no interest in the intricacy of Gods for he has bigger problems!

Half a day has almost passed and it's already evening in the town of green with the light of the blue moon gazing from the window of the inn Leo and Elizabeth rented for the night. Leo still hasn't sold the miscellaneous items he got from the wagon, mainly because no merchant is willing to travel to a town that's bound to be ravaged by monsters. Well maybe? Or maybe not. But, indeed, Leo failed to spot anyone these last few hours.

Even in the depths of night, the people are still hard at work on creating defensive measures outside. The sound is loud enough to make it impossible for Leo to sleep. The inn they're staying in is a small 2-story inn located on the east side of the town, near the river. It's a fairly expensive inn due to it having a 'Privy' which contains a toilet for its customers.

In the privy, Leo stared at his reflection in the water. Standing around 5'9 tall, his buffed figure made up for his short height. When you look at him from afar, he's like a beast ready to pounce any moment. But when you look at his face carefully, aside from the eyes of a dead fish, there's still some resemblance of baby fat on his cheeks. He has a rough beard and short hair. Compared to the people of the future where Leo lived, Harbar is no doubt ugly. But in the medieval era sense where the prettiest of sl*t look like a barrel? Then he's slightly above average. Or so Leo thought...

After cleaning himself, Leo promised himself to sell the items tomorrow and buy some clothes. It's because he only has his armor and leather pants with him, everytime he walks, a chorus of wood creaking underneath his feet can be heard, the feeling? Not that pleasant.

In the corridor, he spotted an eye peeking at him at the opening of the door next to his room. Elizabeth who was caught red-handed immediately closed the door with a crash.

'Sigh' Leo could only shake his head in response as he made his way to his quarter.

He took off his armor and leather pants, leaving him naked, with only a dirty loincloth covering his private region. He lays on the bed and closed his eyes. Now that he's in a safe space, Leo could finally sort out his thoughts.

First of all, he transmigrated to a body of a boy named Harbar who died from the Ogre.

'I mean there's no way Harbar is alive. That swing broke all his bones and some organs.' Scientifically it's the case, but who knows maybe there's some sort of elixir or secret technique that can still save him that time? The possibility is zero but what if a wandering 'Witcher' saved him from the brink of death, what would happen to my soul?... Leo began to over-think like he always does. Since young, he's done it in his spare time, and even when he's already an adult, the habit still latched into him.

'Ah. There's no use thinking about it. Let's move on.'

The second thing is the Seal of Pantheon. It's the last thing he touched on Earth, and it's safe to say that it's the reason for his transmigration.

'But what exactly is this seal? The girl said that it's a seal for those who will bring chaos and hope to the world, and can change the fate of every being in this world, but should I just believe the context of that book she spoke of? What not, it may even be a fantasy book, a children's book. Hmmm... Gero also doesn't know about it, well it's obvious peasants won't know, they don't know how to read after all.

Leo chuckled. Even though he's aware he's also illiterate in the knowledge of this world.

'I need to find someone, or something, that will help me discover the mystery of the seal.' Leo knows the seal is his only ticket to earth.

'The town oracle... Delia, I think? I'm pretty sure Gero said something like she knows something about mystery and revelations... Looks like I need to add another plan for tomorrow.' Leo frowned.

The third is the white light that shoots out from the body of the animals he killed. Yes, as long as he's the one who dealt the killing blow, the orbs will appear in his vision. Along with 4 wolves, Leo also killed 3 rabbits and a deer on their way to the Town. Every single one has the same white orb that goes straight to his chest, or more specifically, the seal, every time he kills them. Although it's varying in size, with the orb of the rabbit being the size of grain only.

It's also notable that insects when killed, won't give any orbs. Maybe because they're much smaller? What if I kill a cockroach the size of a head? Leo shivered at the thought.

'But the real issue is, what's the use of those orbs? I mean, they should have some purpose right?'

"Right seal?" Leo opened his mouth and talked to the seal in his chest. Leo has no expectations or whatever, but as if the seal answered him. He saw white lights dancing on the scale of the dragon for a second! It quickly disappeared but Leo was sure that he saw it!

'What in the world?' Leo has this vague feeling that the seal and himself are somehow connected. He closed his eyes and focused on his consciousness. But unlike the usual where it's only pure darkness and illusory thoughts. This time what he saw truly scared the 52 years old man to the bone.

In front of him is a humongous temple. Its design is like the Greeks Parthenon. Its column is white as snow, the whiteness literally blinding to the eyes. Leo swears that no building on Earth can be compared to the sheer size of the temple. It's like a mountain, with hundreds of columns spanning as wide as the eye can see.

[Is this how ants feel when they saw a house?] Leo couldn't help but think... Wait, what!?
