Chapter 24: Melissa
Xie Qing's body glowed and dimmed. He looked like an old light bulb that was already one step away from exploding.
There was one law flying around his soul that mesmerized Xie Qing's heart.
For there were three laws in that one law at once!
This law looked like a black vortex with stars in it. Something very similar to a galaxy.
Xie Qing repeated a mantra that he half-jokingly called "The Mantra of the Abyss." Each time Spiritual Space was filled with life and perished.
It was like a cycle of life and death, from the creation of the world to its end.
With each passing hour, the pressure diminished, so Xie Qing began to repeat for the last time.
"I am the beginning of everything."
The space filled with light and hope, bursting with plants and wildlife.
"I am the end of everything."
Instantly, the explosion erased everything and replaced it with darkness. Xie Qing frowned and continued.
"I am the light."
His body lit up like a light and Spiritual space became light again.
"I am darkness."
Xie Qing faded again, as if he had lost his mass. Instead of absolute darkness, however, there were bits of light in him as well.
"I am life."
Plants and animals began to appear in the empty space, filling it with the joy of life.
"I am death."
The flowers wilted, the animals died, and the space became soulless again.
Xie Qing opened his eyes and a bright light illuminated everything, bringing dead animals and plants back to life.
The plants began to flutter joyfully, and the animals bowed to the figure in the sky.
As if everything were an illusion, the animals returned to their former state.
Finally, Xie Qing muttered
"I am the Abyss."
His eyes turned purple and black smoke appeared behind his back. Spiritual space began to tear and shake, and the animals crouched in fear.
The black smoke began to turn into a unique purple sign that Xie Qing could not understand.
But in this castle, he felt the laws of life, death, and destruction.
This was the law of the Abyss!
An hour passed after learning the law. The spiritual space became calm, and the creatures in it continued to live as usual.
Xie Qing underwent changes and one of them was that his eyes turned purple.
Also of the external changes was his appearance. He became much more handsome, masculine, and attractive.
In addition, he was one step away from A-level.
Xie Qing opened his eyes in real life and found the Elf Queen and an unfamiliar girl standing in front of him.
"Good morning." The Elf Queen smiled and her ears twitched faintly.
Xie Qing smiled back and then checked on Aria. She had successfully learned the Law of Life, but was in a weak state.
She was sleeping peacefully in Xie Qing's lap and he lovingly stroked her head.
"Congratulations on your breakthrough, my kinsman." Suddenly an unfamiliar voice sounded and Xie Qing turned in his direction.
There stood a beautiful girl with black hair and a lush body shape. Xie Qing stood up.
He suddenly frowned.
[An anomaly was detected in the user's memories. Replay?]
"You did well." Said the girl with cold eyes.
However, her face changed to another, more youthful and joyful. Xie Qing looked at her intently.
[Okay, I'll be your girlfriend!]
Soon her youthful face changed to one that was childlike and sweet, with an excited expression on her face and a blush on her cheeks.
[Xie Qing, will you take me as your wife?]
"Melissa?"
Xie Qing muttered this and looked puzzled at the girl in front of him, whom he called Melissa.
Bam!
Suddenly, space shook and a huge whirlwind of energy came out of the cold girl's body.
"W-what?!" The girl was stunned and her face showed different emotions: shock, joy, and longing.
Xie Qing narrowed his eyes and looked at Melissa, who was looking at him with shock.
[Are you really leaving?]
The girl looked sadly at Xie Qing, who had not yet turned into a Guardian of the Abyss.
And afterwards, the memory changed. Now Xie Qing was in a burning house and was sheltering a little girl.
He looked like a handsome boy of eight and smiled brightly in spite of the situation. He covered the little girl with his body.
[X-Xie Qing... I-I don't want to die!]
[Silly girl... You're not going to die.]
The boy, or rather, Xie Qing smiled and kissed her forehead.
Soon green energy began to flow out of the boy's body, which was life energy.
He transferred all his energy to her and hugged the girl's body with his last breath.
[Xie Qing?]
The girl asked worriedly, but Xie Qing did not answer.
Boom!
The burning wood fell on Xie Qing's back and burned him, but he did not react...
After all, Xie Qing had been dead for a long time.
That was the end of the memories and Xie Qing awoke, breathing heavily. His soul was in chaos, and new memories began to emerge.
However, because of severe exhaustion, Xie Qing lost consciousness.
Melissa looked at him with a warm expression on her face while Elf World calmed down.
The Elf Queen dispensed orders and began to help Xie Qin with Aria.
And so ended their first day in the Elf World.

In a room whose balcony was above the royal garden, a beautiful girl with black hair and a lush physique was watering the flowers.
"Hm-hm-hm~" She was humming some song and looked happy.
Next to her sat a blond girl with blue eyes and angelic wings, Aria.
She looked at the black-haired girl, Melissa, with a complicated look.
Xie Qing had been asleep in bed for the past two days, which made Aria very worried about him.
But she didn't expect to see anyone but her in this room.
"So you mean you knew your husband back in his first life?" Aria raised an eyebrow.
"Yes, I am. Then he died protecting me..." Melissa replied in a neutral voice, continuing to water the flowers.
Aria pursed her lips and looked strangely at the black-haired girl. Naturally, anyone hearing such a story would think it was nonsense.
However, Melissa's identity as a Projection of the Abyss was weighing heavily on poor Aria.
And, if Xie Qing really lived during the Ancient War...
"He's over a billion years old?!" Aria suddenly jumped up and shouted loudly.
Melissa turned to her and looked at her like she was a fool. But Aria didn't pay attention.
The angel girl looked at Xie Qing with a complicated look, but then shook her head.
"Even if the husband is a trillion years old, it won't change anything! We're still husband and wife!" Aria nodded to herself.
At the same time, Xie Qing's eyelashes fluttered and he opened his eyes.
He turned to Melissa and looked at her with a complicated look.
Seemingly noticing his awakening, Melissa sat down beside him and squeezed the boy's hand.
Aria did exactly the same, as if she didn't want to lose to Melissa.
"Let me explain." Melissa looked into Xie Qing's eyes and smiled weakly.
Xie Qing nodded.
