Chapter 30: Mother

The event took place under the World Tree. Most of the elves walked excitedly.

Especially today, their excitement was greater than usual. One could tell that each of the affected families was hoping to see their own family member.

Xie Qing condensed the Energy of the Abyss and made himself a chair to sit on. Melissa and Aria did not come as they were busy playing with Nana.

Xie Qing smiled at the elves who greeted him. Although it was boring, politeness had to be responded to with politeness.

The joining of the two worlds would happen in an hour, but it was already so lively under the tree. This was the first time Xie Qing had seen such a large crowd.

"Does it look like the Abyss Child is bored?" A gentle voice rang out behind Xie Qing.

Turning his head, Xie Qing saw a beautiful mature woman, Lily. He smiled softly and created a chair out of Abyss Energy.

"Well, I don't have any relatives I'd like to meet." Xie Qing smiled and looked at the elves.

The queen sat down in her chair and looked at her kin as well. Her gaze grew softer.

Xie Qing furtively glanced at her face and shifted his gaze.

"The World Tree seems to be worried, too." Xie Qing looked at the trembling tree branches and raised an eyebrow.

Lily explained, "The Tree senses the elves' emotions and thus expresses its sympathy."

Xie Qing was surprised. Who would have thought that the tree had such intelligence? Though, given its mythical origins, it still wasn't impossible.

The hour flew by quickly enough and Lily stood up, and with it the chair disappeared. Xie Qing also got up and walked with Lily closer to the Tree.

"Dear Elves. Today is a very important day for us: the World Tree will connect the two worlds and help us see our kin." Her words caused a little excitement, but Lily continued. "I hope that every lost soul can find peace. And each of you can help with that."

The elves bowed and Lily nodded. Soon soft balls of light began to emanate from the World Tree.

The orbs were souls that looked like elves to the kin of the dead.

As for Xie Qing, to him it all looked as if the crickets had decided to come down from the Tree.

Soon, however, he stopped when a gray orb appeared before him.

Not only was it no different in color from the rest, but it clearly did not belong to the elven race.

"And what are you?" Xie Qing looked curiously at the gray ball and soon the ball turned into a human figure.

Xie Qing pressed his lips together and looked at the ghost with a compound gaze. How could he not see who it was?

"Mother..."

Xie Rowe.

She was 48 when she died. Hard work had taken a heavy toll on the woman's health.

At that time she had her only son, Xie Qing.

Before she died, she had many regrets: Her greatest regret was her son.

He was helpless and very young. Even if the state was willing to support him financially, it was very unlikely that he would be happy.

Then her soul transformed into a gray ball and began to drift through spaces, eventually ending up in the Elf World.

But today she felt a familiar presence, and as she emerged from the Tree, she saw her son.

Xie Qing had changed greatly, grown older and taller. Xie Rowe was very happy when she saw him.

"You have grown so much, my son. Mother doesn't recognize you at all." Xie Rowe smiled gently and ran her hand over Xie Qing's face.

It was a strange feeling. Her hand could not touch his, but Xie Qing felt so calm and protected.

Xie Rowe looked at Xie Qing with regret and you could see the self-reproach in her eyes.

Xie Qing noticed this and said: "Mother, you have nothing to worry about. Your son has grown up and now he can take care of himself."

He smiled and looked into his mother's eyes. Xie Qing continued.

"Now I have a wife. Her name is Aria, and she's a very nice woman, but a bit perky."

"Then there's Melissa, she's a good friend of mine... she's situation is a little complicated."

"But I'm happy. So you should be proud of yourself." Xie Qing smiled brightly. "Your son is grown up and strong now."

He had a lot to go through. Xie Qing had not yet seen even one percent of this world.

He still has unresolved business.

However, he was confident in himself. Therefore, Xie Qing of these would regret nothing.

"And without you, mother... I wouldn't be standing here."

Xie Rowe's eyes clouded over and tears appeared in the corner of her eyes. She was overwhelmed with pride, joy, and peace.

"Yes... you did well, son. Your mother is very proud of you."

Xie Qing smiled weakly and looked at his mother's body, which began to disappear. Soon the gray ball turned into a golden one.

Without much thought, the balloon flew toward the sky. There were tear drops in Xie Qing's eyes, but quickly enough he wiped them away and stood up straight.

He looked up into the sky and smiled.

"Be happy in your next life, mother."

Because you deserve it.

...

Lily looked at Xie Qing with a compound gaze. She naturally saw everything.

It was unusual for her to see such an expression on Xie Qing's face. He looked so weak and submissive that it stunned her for a second.

She had an opinion about him, and it was that Xie Qing was a strong-minded man.

Today, however, she saw that side of him. Lily had mixed feelings.

In a rather joyful atmosphere, the joining of worlds was taking place. Many mothers finally received their peace, as did some souls.

But that didn't mean that absolutely every soul could accept its death.

"Son?" The woman's shocked voice sounded a contrast to the other conversations.

No one paid much attention, but Lily had sensitive ears. So she could hear the voice of the shower.

"Why didn't you protect me, Mother?!"

"Son, please calm down..."

"WHY?!"

The woman had green hair and emerald eyes. There was shock and sadness in her eyes.

The queen frowned visibly upon hearing this conversation.

As much as she wanted to, there would always be dissatisfied souls. It's understandable, since many of them didn't want to die.

Because of the negative energy, their own selves begin to distort, turning them into lunatics.

And this is an irreversible process. After all, there is something in everyone's heart that ever comes out.

Otherwise, the world would be a much calmer place than it is now.

The resurgence of Heroes is one of the harbingers of war.

After all, the Heroes need an "evil" that they need to win. And this time...

"Evil" in their eyes is everyone but demons and their allies.

But should we fear demons and their allies, let alone Heroes?

"Heh."

Of course... not.

Fear breeds the weak as well as the strong. For it is true what they say...

Too much pressure breeds a monster.

End of Volume 1.

///

Good afternoon. Alexander is with you.

I have to say about the schedule for chapter releases: you'll probably see just one chapter a day most of the time, but sometimes it can be two.

If you want more chapters, then support the author with power stones.

As for when the next chapter is, my answer is tomorrow.

There won't be a break until the end of the summer, that I promise.

There will be 30 chapters in each volume. The title of the next volume is The Abyss.

There will be many more battles and confrontations in this volume. I will also try to think through the events to the fullest.

But, again, it all depends on your feedback.

Thank you for reading this chapter.

I'll see you tomorrow.

Respectfully,

Alexander.
