His eyes widened for split of a second before he said, "I didn't. I was busy."

She nodded.

That was relieving, but her cheeks burned, making her want to get away from there.

"Next time, I will pay more attention," he added.

She was about to smile at him when her expression went down as he began to scold her.

"However, you were still in wrong for leaving the room. It could have been dangerous. The hospital is a busy place, and you don't know around the hospital.

You could have gotten hurt and lost. Do you know how much problem that could create? You need to learn to listen well," he chided.

"I understand," she softly said.

"And as for you," he started, looking at Edgar.

"Wasn't your punishment last time enough? No matter what issues you have with Vanessa, you can't go around messing with her or hurting her. You even dragged in Evelyn this time."

"Danny—"

He stared sternly at the child, getting him to correct his words.
