Chapter 15: Chapter 15- Meeting Adrian 2

As Olivia and I made our way towards the end of the hall where the conference room is located, I couldn't help but look at my surrounding a little. Although being the owner's daughter, I haven't stepped foot on this floor of the building till today. The floor was made of a polished brown wood, I could see my reflection in it. The conference rooms each had glass doors and you could see everyone in it without going in. We were almost at the end of the hall when Olivia got a call,

"I have to take this ma'am, it looks important. The conference room is down the hall by your left, room six" she said, occasionally looking down at her phone that was still ringing.

"Room six, got it….Alright then" I muttered to myself, wondering why she still hasn't picked up her call.

"Can I go ma'am?" she asked looking weary

"What?.. oh my god… of course you can please'' she was actually waiting for me to let her go? Good lord, I need to start getting used to this authority I now possess. Watching her turn around and rush to pick the call, I continued my journey down the silent hall, only the clicking of my heels could be heard. "Room six…Room six" I kept chanting in my head till I located the  door. This particular door is quite different from the rest, although it was also made of glass, it wasn't transparent. I couldn't see the people that were already in the room. Taking a deep breath in through my nose and out through my mouth.

"You've got this Nene, you can do it" I encouraged myself before pushing the door to go in. The first thing I noticed when I got into the conference room was the fact that there were only two other people in the room. One of which is Dean, who is waving at me like a child on Christmas morning while sitting on one of the chairs around the long table. The other person had his back turned to the door looking down at the view from the floor length window.

"You finally made it," Dean said, still beaming at me.

"Yeah?" I am still a little awkward about his ever cheerful behaviour. I have only known him for less than fifteen minutes and he has managed to annoy me just by seeing his face.

"You are late" That voice!. Dean and I both looked up in the direction of the voice. The man still had his back turned to us. I looked back at Dean and slightly raised my eyebrow asking who the other guy was.

"My boss," he whispered with a shrug, looking at me like I should know. His boss? Has far as I know he is the second in command in the Hunt company so the only person that he reports to would be his brother.

Adrian Hunt?!

"By three minutes" I replied confidently to the voice, while taking a seat at the head of the table.

"Thirty minutes, ten minutes, three minutes, they are all the same. You are still late" he still had his back turned to us. His voice had a bass that bounces on the wall. It was deep and sounded very rich.

"Punctuality is something that I hold very important, I hope I don't always have to wait for you in the cause of this partnership" although his voice was relatively calm while saying that showing he wasn't really angry, I still find it rude that he would say something like that on the first day of our partnership, but all that seemed to go out the window immediately he turned around. One word that came to my mind right now is "Divine".

I was thankful to be seated before he turned because I don't think I can take all of this in while standing. I had forgotten to breathe because I was star-struck, how can a man be so beautifully handsome?

The tall frame, broad shoulders, sharp jaw, Dark hair that shines in the light, a light shade of green eyes. He looks like royalty in a suit.

"Adrian Hunt. It is nice to see you again" he said with his hand stretched out. When did he get here? Clearing my throat a little, I stood up to shake his hands and noticed with the heels I have on, the top of my head barely reached his shoulders, I am five foot seven tall wearing a four inch heel. I definitely wasn't short, he is just too tall.

"Penelope Mount, have we met before?" I am sure I would remember if I had met someone that looked as handsome as he did.

"Of course you don't remember" he mumbled, if I wasn't paying this much attention to him I am sure I wouldn't have heard that. "Excuse me?" I asked wanting to get clarity on the situation.

"Yes, we have. But that will be a story for another day, we have business to get down to" after saying that he moved to the other end of the table and sat on the head of the table. "Where are the rest?" I asked after he took his seat. I know little about business meetings but I was expecting a whole team for this meeting at least.

"It would just be us today, there are some things we need to talk about before we bring more people on board," he replied. I heard a scuff come from Dean who I had already forgotten was still in the room when he said that. A glare from his brother shut him up immediately.

"Sorry" he said still spotting a tiny smile on his lips when the door was pushed open

"Excuse me" Olivia said with her head slightly bowed as she came into the room and sat next to me.

"Have you gone through the file?" Adrian asked a few seconds later.

"Yes I have, the whole concept is nice but I have my reservations" I said gathering the courage to look at his beautiful face.

"Really? I would like to hear it" he said, his green eyes shining with interest. So I told him how we needed to add more activities to the list if we wanted to keep people coming and build structures that could also attract tourist attention. I also added we make it all encompassing, that is whoever comes into this facility won't be needing anything from the outside world in terms of goods and services. We should have a mall, restaurants and a whole lot in this facility. The meeting ended two hours later with Adrian and I doing all the talking alone. For my first meeting, I loved it. He listened to my ideas and developed them by adding bits to make them better. I felt very included.

"Dean would send a file to you including everything we talked about. You can pick out people you would like to have on the project from your end and I would do the same, maximum of five." Adrian said while we were making our way out of the conference room.

"I don't mind working with whomever you pick Mr. Hunt, I am sure you know this is my first project here at Mount Crop"

"Adrian please, we are partners after all. And about picking out people, after all you said in there, I trust your judgement. I wouldn't have offered it if I didn't"

''Thank you, Adrian" I said smiling at him. I was happy that a renowned CEO like him would trust my opinion after listening to my ideas about his project. Today was really going smoothly for me. I can't wait to tell Dad. We all got into the elevator to take us down to our floor,

"Your office is on what floor?" Dean asked after we got into the elevator. I remembered Mom saying my office was opposite that of Adrian when she visited my house a few days ago. So I said, "Same as Adrian's" looking up at Adrian who hasn't said anything since we got into the elevator. "Mine is on the sixth floor," Dean said. I didn't ask tho.

"Sure" I muttered to myself, showing him my forced smile. We were almost at our destination when we heard him say, "My secretary will inform you the date and time for the next meeting" when the elevator door opened and he walked out.

"Is he always like this?" I had to ask, he only seemed interested when it came to talking about work.

"Like what?" Dean asked

"Aloof"

"No, he is just shy" he chuckled

"Shy?"

"Don't worry, you will understand soon" with that he also left the elevator. I turned to Olivia who had been quiet all through the ride, "I will take you to your office ma'am" she said, leading the way down the hall again. My office is almost as big as the size of my study at home, it has a book shelf about four feet tall and a painting of a waterfall hung on the right side of the room, it also had a floor length window on the left side of the room and a long sofa at the centre of the room. My work desk is a neatly polished brown mahogany wood with a laptop placed neatly on one side and some files stacked on the other. I moved around a little before going behind the desk to take a seat on my chair, which was cozy and very comfortable. "Where is your desk?" I couldn't help but notice that Olivia's work desk wasn't in the room.

"All the secretaries on this floor have a work space we share together down the hall" she said.

"Is it comfortable?, I won't mind sharing my space with you" with a small smile on her face she refused my offer. She would probably be more comfortable with her colleagues than to sit here all day with me.

"That would be all, you can go"

"Alright ma'am" she said, making her way quickly out of the room.
