Chapter 2: 2. End of Friendship

Adrian's eyes widened, his hands shaking with the phone still in his grip. The following message appears as a photo of a white object marked with two red lines.

"How come Kirana is also pregnant?" he mumbled.

Adrian tried to push Kirana away. Right now, he had to put his wife and their child. Adrian thought that if he had known earlier before this marriage took place, circumstances could not have changed it. Adrian will still marry Sintia, the woman he has loved long before Kirana fills his days.

Marrying Sintia is one of Adrian's dreams. A woman has always rejected her love even though Adrian has repeatedly expressed his feelings. Sintia argued that she didn't want to ruin their friendship, but now Adrian had managed to conquer Sintia and marry her.

The bathroom door opened. Adrian quickly deleted all the messages Kirana had sent and put his cell phone back on the bedside table.

"Are you done, honey?" asked Adrian in a slightly nervous tone.

Adrian saw his wife looking seductive in her bright red lingerie. Looks harmonious, which makes her white skin more radiant.

Sintia smiled at Adrian teasingly, "Yes, do you want to take a shower first or ..."

Sintia did not continue her words. Her lips were already under Adrian's control. The man was passionate about kissing her deeply as if wanting to forget the message he had just read and the mess he had made.

That night they spent the night passionately embracing the sweetness of lust. However, strangely in Adrian's mind, that picture was another figure. Adrian kept thinking about another woman who was currently feeling intense heartbreak.

Meanwhile, Kirana, the girl, did not say anything to her parents about Adrian. She locked herself in her room, still crying over the bitterness in her life.

The feelings of love that were so deep for Adrian covered the hatred that should have been more dominating after the man betrayed her. All this time, Adrian was the perfect figure in her eyes. Kirana has liked Adrian since she started junior high school.

Their families are very close and often hold meetings. The seeds of love began to sprout in Kirana's heart. While Adrian does not have unique feelings for Kirana, his heart is already attached to another woman, Sintia.

Sintia is a woman whose lifestyle is trendy, beautiful, and rich. She is used to being surrounded by men who always adore her, unlike Kirana, who is just a simple and innocent girl.

Kirana always feels jealous of the closeness between Adrian and Sintia, but her lover always ensures they are only good friends. Kirana also believed Adrian's words.

"Kirana, can we talk for a minute, honey?" Her mother's voice startled Kirana's thoughts.

Ratih saw Kirana's swollen face, her heart started to cry, and she could guess that her daughter already knew what had happened to Adrian.

"Yes, Mom," Kirana replied, trying to force a smile to hide her sadness.

Ratih sat on the edge of the bed, took a deep breath, and looked at her daughter. "Did you know?"

One question that her mother just asked was no longer able to hide Kirana's hurt. She rushed to hug her mother. Ratih returned her daughter's hug and caressed her gently. She held back tears so her daughter wouldn't know she was hurting.

Hermawan witnessed the pain of his only daughter crying in his wife's arms. He clenched his fists and then entered the room.

"Come on. You don't have to cry over that traitorous man!" His voice trembled. "They have no respect for us and have belittled us."

Hermawan left them with a feeling of anger in his chest. His heart ached too, but because he was a man and a father to his daughter, he had to look strong.

Two days later, Ferdian and Julia came to visit Kirana's family. Julia sat beside her husband and whispered, "Papa, don't stay here long."

Hermawan and Ratih appear, while Kirana refuses to meet Adrian's parents. They didn't talk much. His face showed an unfriendly demeanor.

"We came here to apologize to you," said Ferdian.

There was no response from Kirana's parents. Hermawan's face was red with anger, and so was Ratih's. Meanwhile, Julia didn't seem to have the slightest feeling of guilt. She was so relaxed playing with the handphone in her hand.

"As you all know, Adrian is already married to another girl. We didn't expect it to turn out like this. Once again, we apologize!" Ferdian said with a slight bow.

"Kirana is very precious. They shouldn't be together. She doesn't deserve to live with a cowardly man," said Hermawan.

Hearing those words, Julia, indifferent all this time, became furious and raised her head.

"What are you saying? You're just criticizing my son. Adrian is married to someone more worthy than your stupid girl. Sintia is a smart, beautiful woman from a rich and respected family."

Hearing such humiliation, Ratih became furious. "We still have manners and dignity. I heard that the woman was already pregnant."

"Hahaha ... self-respect, you say? If you still have self-respect, you can't be angry because you lost my son. And one more thing, Kirana is also pregnant, just like Sintia. But unfortunately, her trick to snare Adrian failed. My son is smarter in choosing a wife ." Julia reproached passionately.

Hearing Julia's words, Hermawan and Ratih were, of course, stunned. Is Kirana pregnant?

Kirana, who had been listening to their conversation in her room, kept crying—imagining how her parents were feeling right now.

"Julia, stop!" Ferdian snapped at his wife.

"Wait! They need to know not to look down on us anymore. I've had enough of being humble in front of them. I would also not like to have a stupid daughter-in-law like Kirana." Julia said that, standing up and putting her hands on her hips.

"You are outrageous, Julia! Even though I have considered you as my brother, it turns out that this is your true nature all this time," growled Ratih.

"Honestly, I've always hated being under you and flattering you. It disgusts me," Julia reproached.

"Stop! Please get out of my house! We don't have any business anymore. Hermawan kicked Adrian's parents because they couldn't hear their reproaches and insults. He then left the room.

"Come on, Papa, let's go! I don't want to set foot in this house anymore." Julia tugged at Ferdian's arm.

Ferdian sighed, then followed his wife's steps out of the house where he had depended on Hermawan's hope and compassion.

Now the situation is different, and it seems that Ferdian will no longer come asking for help or chat casually with Hermawan like a close friend before.

Their friendship ended because of betrayal.
