Chapter 44: A new Power is Rising (4/13)

[DAY 74]

Neo spent a long time meditating and adjusting to his new Soul.

Not only was Neo's body ripped to pieces in the attack, but it also created wounds in his Soul, all of which Neo had to close one by one with much effort.

During this process, Neo's Soul was fueled by the energy in the Body Cores of the three Stage 2 Undead which he previously defeated and collected.

Although, Neo was able to close and heal enough of the wounds in his Soul, the healing process is not over yet since the Soul is still adjusting itself to its new Stage.

Even though there are no more cracks in Neo's World of Darkness aka his Soul, the damage has left its scars that Neo can only heal with constant meditating and enough time.

Neo fears that if he doesn't, the wounds on his soul will worsen over time and his Soul could maybe get permanently damaged.

Therefore, Neo plans to better evaluate his new Body and its strength first, and otherwise train his Myriad and Legion more through fighting.

Neo's ultimate goal is not just Safezone 9, where Androld is believed to be, but much more to attack as many Safezones as possible and add the humans there to his Legion or Myriad.

Neo then plans to evacuate his Myriad and Legion from Earth, which he is sure will become uninhabitable in the near future, even for himself.

No matter how many bullets Neo can dodge, how many people he can torn to pieces and how many tanks and mechs can be destroy, that will not change the fact that he has nothing to oppose against natural catastrophes, especially the natural catastrophes of world-destroying dimensions.

Tsunamis powerful enough to engulf cities, earthquakes that shift all continental plates, and huge volcanic rain and lava flows. Even Neo can't oppose such a power.

However, Neo is already dreaming of letting his Miasma fight against such violence one day. The potential of his Miasma is just so incredibly large that it cannot be ruled out that it will reach new heights in the future.

Who says the best way to fight fire is with fire? Neo fights fire best with his Miasma!

Furthermore, is Neo particularly interested in creating new creatures from his Miasma, such as the Miasma Tower, which for whatever reason created itself after Neo's Soul evolved into a Stage 2 Soul.

But Neo knows that such thoughts are at least a long way off. He needs a lot more Souls and Soul Energy and preferably a stronger Soul himself, to realize such ideas.

...

Neo opened his eyes after some time in medetation.

He decided first to set up the designated military hierarchy to which his Undead Legion and Soulless Myriad will be subject.

Every military needs a hierarchy, and while Neo is of course one of them, he cannot plan and command his entire Legion in every detail. Therefore, to function efficiently and productive, a military needs an orderly hierarchy, which as Neo's representative will be his eyes and mouth.

As these representative or Officers, his Soulless Myriad will function, especially since they have higher intelligence compared to the Undead and can carry out more complex orders, as well as being able to work out their own tactics and strategies in the heat of battle.

But because there are currently more Soulless than Undead, Neo decides to appoint only a few Soulless as Officers who will be in command of a group of UIndead and the other Soulless.

The lower ranks of soldiers are referred to as Legionnaires. They are divided into a total of 5 Classes, with the First Class Legionnaire being the normal field soldier, while a Five Class Legionnaire has more responsibilities.

The Officer Classes that Neo will initially introduce will be the Centurion, which will also be divided into five Classes.

Each Centurion will command a group of 3,000 to 5,000 legionnaires, grouped into Cohorts.

A First Class Centurion commands one to two Cohorts, with higher ranks commanding more Cohorts. Like this a Five Class Centurion commands about five to seven Cohorts.

The Centurion in turn are subject to the Legates, who are also divided into five Classes. A Legate commands several Centurions and with increasing their rank receive the responsibility for more Centurions.

The highest position below Neo, belongs to the already existing Prefect, of which there is only one so far, Aaron, who as a special undead, has proven himself in this role by completing his mission.

Neo then decided to introduce the new military hierarchy to his Soulless and Undead all by thought, and then gathered some of the most excellent Soulless and appointed them to Centurions and Legates of different Classes. Furthermore, Neo divided his army of Legionnaires into many Cohorts and placed some of the new officers as their superiors.

All in all, Neo divided his army into about 400 Cohorts, which are led by 110 Centurions which obey 20 Legates. The only Prefect remains Aaron for now. All Legates and Aaron directly report to Neo.

Neo plans in the future, when his army grows, to further expand the military System and add new positions, but for now this should be enough.

...

After the appointment, Neo decided to further upgrade his Legion and Myriad, giving them all who could use them, melee weapons and equipping almost all Soulless with firearms.

After taking over the City, Neo's Soulless have already set up several warehouses and started collecting valuable supplies their.

Including food for the Soulless humans but also for the Undead soldiers. Weapons and ammunition, some clothes and some other raw materials that may be needed for the construction of various armors, melee weapons and ammunition.

In addition, the Soulless have collected all still working vehicles, as well as all possible parts for repairs.

With all these resources, Neo plans to expand his Legion and Myriad so that if possible they should all receive armor that can protect them against small-caliber bullets and at the same time guarantee mobility.

In addition, Neo plans to train his troops in Pit Battles against each other and improve their fighting style with different weapons.

Neo has also ordered his Legates to train some small elite troops composed only of Soulless, who can follow complex commands. They need to be able to infiltrate, sabotage, assassinate, and scout enemy positions.

But since Neo probably has less than two months until the evacuation of the still rescueable people is completed, he has to act quickly and therefore doesn't expect very many elite soldiers.

...

At the end, Neo decided to spend the rest of the day exploring his own Body functions, particularly his armor and wings, which he has so far skillfully ignored.

Although Neo's Body Stage is not known, the strength and power he exudes can be glimpsed.

Where Neo may have been only slightly muscular before, his current physique is significantly more muscular. Not that he seems like a muscle-bound monster, but he's got quite a few more then before which are clearly recognizable.

Well, if you can call what Neo has muscles in the beginning, especially since his new dark demonic armor has replaced his entire skin so far and only Neo's neck and head still show his usual pale skin.

However, Neo felt very comfortable in his armor, it was skin tight but didn't feel constricted at all. It looked heavy, but Neo can move as fast with it, if not faster, than without it.

Neo sees no reason to remove the armor that withstands even light laser attacks, but he knows that if he ever wants to, he should be able to do it just like he used to with his old armor.

His wings, which are made of the same material as his armor, also have their advantages, as they of course allow him to fly while not using Miasma all the time, which suits Neo very well.

Neo even started using his wings as a kind of weapon in battle.

He found out that when he wants it, the wings sharpen and he can attack with their sides like two long blades.

Neo can also harden his wings and use them as additional protection, like a shield.

But even though that's how it is, the wings get in his way in some situations, they're just too big and too wide.

Therefore, Neo tried to make his wings disappear like his armor and the wings actually responded to Neo's command and melted together with his armor.

Satisfied with his experiments with his wings, he came on to his next test.

Experimenting with his telekinesis abilities. For this, Neo went to one of his Cohorts and ordered them to attack him.

Although the Cohort of Soulless and some Undead did not want to hurt their Master, they followed Neo's orders and attacked him.

Neo, on the other hand, with his eyes closed, saw thousands of atoms around him and ordered all of them to move up.

The Atoms followed the orders and all the Legionnaires of the Cohort who attacked Neo suddenly flew up and floated in the air as if by magic.

While the Legionnaires hovered in the air, Neo focused on their lungs and squeezed them shut.

The Legionnaires began to cough and their breathing got worse as more time past.

But before the first Legionnaires died, Neo stopped his plan and let them all down.

In the end, some of the Soulless humans were injured, but none died and the Soulless were even thankful in the end that they could serve their Master in this way.

It wouldn't even matter to them if they died, especially since as long as they die for their Master, they would gladly accept death.

Neo, on the other hand, was very happy with his results. His range and control over the atoms has increased incredibly, and he can now rely on his Telekinesis more than ever.

...

After a few hours of meditation to regain his strength, Neo decided to start his next experiment.

To lift an entire building about 30 meters high and a meter wide. He must know how much weight he can lift in order to be able to estimate his strength perfectly.

Neo began separating the building from the earth and fortifications on the millions of atoms on the floor of the building.

After that, Neo commanded the atoms to rise.

Neo only felt a slight tingling in his brain at first, but after a few seconds the pain became more intense and stronger.

After a full minute, the building slowly rose by a few centimetres.

After two minutes the massive building was then a meter in the air and Neo then brought the building up to six meters until he could not stand the pain anymore and his Telekines broke.

"BOOOOOOM!"

Made the building when it hit the ground again and collapsed on itself.

Afterwards Neo took a few long and heavy breaths and knelt down and began to meditate for a few hours until his pain was gone and he was able to concentrate again.

"Sigh, I can't seem to manage 10 meters for now and it took me way too long to lift the building completely, but soon in the near future, this will no longer be just an impossibility, but something I can very well achieve!" said Neo with a smile.

...

Neo then decided to summon his broadsword to do some more experiments with it.

As his dark Broadsword materialized, Neo immediately noticed a change in the sword.

Two eyes have appeared on his sword where none were before.

One of the Eyes, which was purple and looked similar to the Miasma Tower's Purple Eye, looked directly at him. Meanwhile, the other Eye, a red one, looked around the area.

Both eyes radiated a respective aura and colored the dark broadsword red and purple.

Neo feels that both Eyes have a unique feel to them.

The Red Eye conveyed feelings of power, excitement and blood, while the Purple Eye conveyed calm, focus and precision.

Neo didn't know why, but it felt like the Broadsword harbored two distinct personalities.

Nonetheless, Neo wasn't really concerned about these personalities, especially since Neo doesn't feel any sparks of negative emotion towards him, only loyalty. But Neo can also simply let the sword kill itself, especially since it has a Soul connection with him.

Neo didn't feel bad about his weapon changes though, much more like the sword had always felt that way.

One thing though Neo couldn't get out of his head and when he focused on the Red Eye to confirm his gut feeling, something changed

The former Broadsword glowed red and black and formed into a large dark Mace decorated with various symbols. The Purple Eye and the Red Eye were still there, only the Red Eye seemed larger here and the red aura was slightly more.

"So my weapon has two forms. One as a Mace, representing the Red Eye, and one as a Broadsword, representing the Purple Eye." concluded Neo.

"What is this weapon, to house such a power? Did I win the jackpot with getting this weapon?" Neo wondered with a big smile as he thanked his Benefactor again for such a great gift he left for him.

...

Afterwards, Neo decided to test his power directly with the new weapon.

Some of his Soulless scouts patrolling the nearby area around Abeus found a group of 5,000 survivors in an old gymnasium outside of town.

There are even some soldiers there and Neo has decided to test his new weapon on the survivors and have a little feast meanwhile.
