Chapter 2: Evolution and Escalation

With time passing faster due to a certain entity changing the time dilation to 100 years passing every 30 minutes, that same entity, Kiro, eventually relearned how to move his limbs. The first thing he does is sit up against the wall of the room.

Taking only a few days of accelerated time to accomplish that, Kiro completed his short-term goal of moving his new body off the floor while also asking the system about any decorations for the room and clothing for him to wear.

According to the information the system provided, Kiro gained furniture and clothing from what his inhabitants developed and create. Alternatively, he can gain things from the Entity hub by trade, the auction house, or the shop where general items are available.

With items functioning the same way they did in some videogames, some entity items, in particular, are more like overall buff items. Some can increase the adaptivity rate of inhabitants by a small percentage while others are like physical equipment used for battle or leisurely things, the expertise of a masseur's skills for example.

This ultimately leads to access to abilities and skills usually developed in fantasy-type stories or honed through years of practice, like slashing apart the sky or destroying cities with a blast of energy, being accessible with a few items.

Furthermore, the truly exceptional items were held by the higher-level entities, some being blueprints they can give to their inhabitants to develop and recreate. Not sure what to expect, Kiro was excited to look at those items in the future.

With some distant goals established Kiro stood against the wall before opening another menu option, the inhabitant option. Looking at the information appearing before him, Kiro rubbed his chin while reading them to himself.

"Evolutionary Tree, Technology Tree, Cultural Tree, Bloodline Tree, Deviancy Tree, Underworld Tree…. Underworld? Does this mean it is the place where the dead go? Should I even have one of these?"

Thinking about it for a moment, if he was reincarnated as a planet through some unknown power, how could something like the underworld not exist? Though… is it like a reverse of himself? Would there be some kind of alternate entity governing the world of the dead? So many questions…

[Notice: The water to land ratio has been achieved. Please begin the evolutionary process. This will make you a level one entity with ten evolutionary points, with this level you can select your Inhabitant evolutionary process.]

"At last, It is finished," he exclaimed softly as he used the system menu to leave his home. Appearing back where his main body was, Kiro quickly noticed the lack of his avatar being present.

"System why did I not remain in my avatar when I left the home?"

[Your avatar control is limited strictly to within your home space. You would need a planetary avatar to control a body outside of your home. This can be obtained through the shop or created when you reach level three and unlock that menu option. Worry not, for your avatar is still present within your home.]

"I see… And what are the requirements to reach new levels?"

[The entity must find out themselves.]

"Of course I do…" Not in the mood to ask any more questions, Kiro began to focus on the inhabitant option within the menu as it was flashing gold every few seconds.

Looking at the options again, the main ones being Evolution, Technology, Deviance, and Biology, Kiro continued to the Evolution option. What awaited him was a skill tree of sorts with the number fifty in a box in the top corner.

"Still seems like a video game…" he said as he quickly realized that this was a skill tree that couldn't be reset.

"Without a reset option of any sort every choice is permanent… I have to select everything carefully.."

Sighing to himself, he looked back through the other options, seeing that the skill trees spanned thousands of options and paths, many interconnected with each other, with others unviewable as a seemingly required prerequisite skill was not learned.

"Let's see…"

..

.

With tens to hundreds of thousands of years blending into each other, Kiro had been able to witness the evolution of life on the surface of his body, reaching level 2 in the process.

Changing the time dilation to greatly speed up the passage of time to a large degree when he was not actively observing or exploring the viewable evolutionary paths, Kiro used his home as a 'time skip' essentially.

Not wanting to miss anything important though, as the life developing on his body were essentially his children, he had the system notify him of any serious events like key evolutionary steps being achieved or any additional evolution points he obtained after reaching level 2 and unlocking achievements within the menu. From that, he obtained more achievements as his inhabitants accomplished, small, albeit new things, his reward being more evolution points.

With his newly obtained evolution points numbering nearly two hundred, and a single evolutionary step currently requiring anywhere from one to ten points to be unlocked for discovery or achievement, Kiro began thinking into the future once more.

(AN: Evolutionary options/Technology will be partially unlocked with points then discovered or achieved by the inhabitants over time. Even paths that were originally passed over can be unlocked by inhabitants should they discover how. )

Pre-selecting viewable evolutions that followed a path labeled human, as well as some other evolutionary paths for aquatic, aerial, and land animal evolution similar to the earlier years of civilization on Aria, Kiro was simply waiting for it to happen.

With bacteria initially evolving into small aquatic animals within the water that Kiro said was his singular ocean, he observed for some time as a few species began to develop an interest in the land his continent provided, adapting legs and organs before taking their first true steps out of the water after nearly two hundred thousand years of contemplation, trying and failing, and eventually adaptation.

Looking back on the animals that remained in the ocean, they began a food chain that developed over the same amount of time. Some animals, becoming larger and stronger hoped to claim the vast waters as their territory, others stayed small and fast, hoping to simply enjoy the peaceful life they were used to.

A select few species, Kiro labeled the true predators of the current time, adapted to the change in depth pressure, going extremely into the deep dark, developing in ways that some could only imagine.

..

.

With the animals that adapted to life on land breathing air primarily, they also began a food chain of some sort while some began to adapt rapidly, becoming insects while others grew wings and took to the skies.

With Kiro expecting this to happen for hundreds of thousands of years, he slowly developed trees and plantlife across the surface, a current single continent surrounded by the rapidly evolving ocean. Additionally, he also created different environments across the continent while controlling the weather to become extremely hot to the south and extremely cold to the north. With large land formations forming as well and weathering creating mountains and canyons, rain from ocean water evaporating under the sun and falling back into the continent forming rivers and water pools, the situation on the continent was slowly coming together.

With different conditions in their environment being forced upon them, the animal population continued to adapt over the years, mammals finally coming into existence as some species grew hair over their bodies to combat the elements, along with the intelligence rising rapidly.

Surprisingly, no meteor came and wiped out the now rampant 'dinosaur' type animals that roamed the surface.

Unfortunately, while altering the weather around the center of the continent, Kiro unknowingly raised the average temperature from 65-80 degrees Fahrenheit to a dangerous 85 to 100 degrees, not noticing the change fast enough as a large portion of the animals died in forest and terrain fires that sparked and spread across the continent.

With the quick rise in temperate, the newly formed glaciers to the north began to melt, causing the ocean level to rise and flood some of the outer continents. Trapping some of the fleeing animals between a rock and a hard place. The more intelligent animals decided to flee north to escape the deadly events and survive in small numbers.

After being alerted to the temperature spike quickly, with only 500 years passing, Kiro altered the temperature back to normal before taking measures with the system to not repeat such a mistake, adopting a seasonal weather pattern to help surviving species adapt to changing temperatures.

Kiro felt a strong sense of loss from his lack of oversight which resulted in the loss of a large portion of animals that lived on the continent.

Only recovering some when he watched over the survivors in the north, recognizing some small groups as primitive cavemen and women, migrating down from the north alongside tens of thousands of animals.

Though only after a few dozen years of cautiousness and speculation. This earned him a couple of achievements in the process, one being extremely late.

[Congratulations! You have completed the achievement, Wrath of The Creator. Kill 50% or more of the animal population using the weather. Rewarding 100 evolution points.]

[Congratulations! You have completed the achievement, First Glimpse of Humanity. One of your inhabitant species has adapted into primitive cavemen/woman. Rewarding 100 evolution and 200 technology points for the historic accomplishment]

[The menu option, Record of History, has been unlocked]

(AN: Well... that escalated quickly...)
