Chapter 4: 4
Enzo gets flashback as he speedily drives through the streets while using his fingers to make drumming sounds on his steering, he turns and looks at his rare-mirror.
Flashback (10 years ago)
A group of armed men chased a young boy through the street,
"Hey kid you better stop running!". One of the men yelled.
"Make me, Vecchio Sciocco (old fool)". The young boy replied while running endlessly looking for an exit.
It seem as though he had stole something valuable from them, he ran as fast as his legs could carry him weaving through the streets, making it very difficult for the men to track him down, it wasn't long until he lost them, leaving them chasing shadows. He hid close to a big container offering him shade as he dipped his hand into his pocket bringing out a shiny piece of jewelry, the jewelry was shaped like a piece of diamond, it glowed so bright he had to cover his eyes as he continued to observe the tiny jewelry.
"hey quello e mio restituiscilo (Hey that is mine give it back)".A little girl said, the girl was almost as the age as the boy but this had nothing to do with what is about to happen next.
"I'm sorry, I really didn't get what you were saying" the boy enquired curiously,
The girl points directly at the jewelry which the boy had previously been observing.
"nahhhh mummia(mummy) I don't think that's gonna happen" he said putting away the jewelry somewhere out of reach deep in his pockets.
Please… please… please… the girl continued to asked nicely.
" I know you're pretty and all but this is my paycheck right here, the boy said lifting the piece of jewelry for her to see.
"they kill you… if return necklace you don't the girl answered in English to the best of her knowledge
"ha… ha… ha… very funny, what are you smoking lately? I think you're on cheap weed, don't you think?" the boy answered while he chuckles.
"Hey here…. She is here I found her" one of the armed men screamed as he approached towards her.
The boy on hearing this scream hurriedly hid the jewelry back in pocket and as he was about to take to his hills, he suddenly tripped and fell and before he could get his head up, one of the armed men pointed his pistol toward the boy on the floor and took the first shot only to narrowly miss just a whisker away from the boy's head. The boy was in shock at this moment and could not move and the armed men has reloaded his to take the second shot, he aimed forb the boys chest this time to decrease his chances of not hitting the target but the girl ran between the boy and the armed man hence, interrupting him from shooting.
"What are you doing Antonella?" The armed man whispered.
This diversion created an avenue for the boy to escape one he did not hesitate to take in a blink of an eye he bounced up to his feet busting through the air like a spear headed arrow and in split second he vanished though he did not run far as he found a hiding place, where he monitored the situation as he watched the armed man and his colleagues take the girl away in an SUV followed by a few more security cars. He then slowly approaches the spot again where he picked up the bullets which missed him by few inches it was engraved underneath it "BT1992".
"Bologna the boy said out loud".
He recognized the bullet by De Ja Vu he puts the bullet in his pockets and leaves the scene.
Present day
Enzo drives speedily as he tries to make up for time he has lost if he was going to win the bet against Mia, it seemed almost impossible as his stop watch was beeping down from 2:10 which meant that he would need to get to his destination in less than two minutes but this wasn't going to stop him from trying as he steps on the gas, going beyond his normal speed limits, he glanced at a grocery store which had the initials blue field 1992 which triggers another memory.
Flashback continues
In a grocery store named di na tal located at bologna, the boy walks into the grocery stores and head straight for one of the cashiers.
"hey, I need your help with something" the boy said stretching his hand revealing the bullet which he had picked out from the scene.
"La mia amica Enzo e un piacere vederti" (My friend Enzo good to see you) the cashier replied with a big smile on his face but that smile soon wipe off as soon as he saw the bullet Enzo brought forward.
"Stiamo ora monitorando le pistole per I signori delle strade? Voglio dire, e quello a cui e arrivato?" (are we now tracking guns for the street lords? I mean, is that what it has come to?
"spare me that shit…. Someone shot at me and missed, I need to know who it is and quit being a chicken bro, I almost got shot today" Enzo responds and hands the bullets over to him.
"oh no… oh no… oh no… Did you at least get the necklace? The cashier asked as he collected the bullet from Enzo.
"who do you think I am? Superman? I just told you that I got shot and the first thing you do is ask me if I got the necklace? Of course I got the necklace with three bullets in my spleen". Enzo answered sounding as sarcastic as possible which made himself and the cashier laughed for a bit.
"tell me, the men that chased you, did they see your face?". The cahier asked curiously.
"yes they did". Enzo answered.
"oh no we are in such deep mess". The cashier replied.
"what is it? What is wrong?". Enzo asked.
"there is only one cartel in the whole of Italy that uses a gold engraved bullet and if it is whom i am thinking, you don't want to mess with them, did the bullet touch you?". The cahier asked.
"No it just missed few inches away from me before I deserted the area". Enzo replied.
"thank God because this bullet is laced with poison and even at the slightest contact would still kill you". The cashier replied.
"who are they? Which family owns those bullets?" Enzo asked.
"the Baltimore's, they own nearly half of the east lands". The cashier replied.
"where is the heart of their operation?". Enzo asked.
"in the middle of the east lands, just after you passed the iron height but I think you should lay low for some time, probably travel out or something". The cashier said.
Enzo smiles as he suddenly ends the conversation and walks out of the grocery store
Right in the middle of east lands, Enzo saw a mansion right in front of him which was heavily guarded. It was like a fortress with guards snooping all around with their very bright torchlights and dogs.
"how the hell am I supposed to get in now? This place is flooded with guards". Enzo said to himself while still scanning the building for loop holes.
"it is show time" Enzo said to himself as he approached the building, using a stone to create a distraction by aiming for one of the headlight and putting it off with a strike which made most of the guards divert their attention towards the area the light turned off while he tried to sneak in from the other part of the building by scaling the fence which saw him fall a few times but finally got it right the third time as he fell inside the compound landing with his arm almost dislocating it but he gets up and start crawling towards his destination, some of the dogs which the guards were controlling started barking loudly all around the compound, one of the dogs dragged the guard controlling him towards the bushes Enzo was hiding behind and this got most of the guards attention as they all turned towards that area slowly gaining grounds on him.
Another stone hits a different headlight and the light turned off in that area which made most of the guards run towards that position in order to reinforce that area. Enzo then sneaks and climbed up to the rooftop scaling through many windows and then finally sees the girl which tried to warn him earlier. Enzo softly hits the window until he gains her attention, And she opens up the window for him to come in which he did.
"come mi hai trovato? Come sei arrivato qui senza che le guardie ti vedessero(how did you find me? How did you get up here without the guards seeing you?)" She asked.
Enzo dips his hand into his pocket and brings out that piece of jewelry which almost got him killed earlier and dangles it in front of her face. And she tries to take it from him but Enzo withdraws his hand a little bit.
"why are your guards trying to kill me? I did not steal from you yet your guards pop up shooting blanks on my face" Enzo asked.
"my mummy died long ago, my mummy own store, you steal diamond from store, daddy and me angry because you steal mummy diamond". She replied.
"well I'm here to give you back.... Could you tell your dogs to chill with the shooting, I almost got killed today…. I am a thief not a terrorist". Enzo said.
She laughs as soon as Enzo was done with his statement.
"what's funny? What's making you laugh so hard?" Enzo asked while smiling.
She just kept laughing, Enzo tries to give her back the jewelry and be on his way but she stops him and stands up, she turned her back to him lifting her hair with her hand,
"aiutami (help me)".
Enzo did not understand a word that came out from her mouth, but as soon as she turned her back towards him, he did not need a n invitation, he gained a clear narrative of what he needed to do, he walk towards her and tried helping her put on the jewelry, she attacks him bashing his face to her knees and kicking him in his spleen as he fell on the floor while she turns on the alarm system which alerted the whole compound and guards began to troop into her quarters.
Enzo tries to flee through the window to make out an escape route while she was not going to allow that happen, she drags him from his waistline and dumping him on the floor and sending him another kick across his face which made him lie flat and for good this time.
As the guards came into the room picking Enzo's weak body from the ground, restraining him while the girl walks slowly towards him.
" wh- wh- why? Why did you do that?" Enzo asked while groaning in pain.
"what's that popular saying? Fool me once...." She replied while smiling.
Enzo eyes popped out in surprise seeing that she could speak perfect English but the guards dragged him away from her chambers.
