Chapter 2: REACHING OUT FOR
"Maybe I arrived too early, I should wait someone will come and get me"I tried my best to clear all the negative thoughts, as I held my bags very close standing in front of the airport, hoping and trying to be positive.
From minutes went to hours and it was getting late and I was scared! the airport security had to come to me several times to ask if everything was fine. I had to tell them that I was waiting for my friend to pick me up but he was stuck in traffic and I just spoke with him.
I started having thoughts of what if like what if my agent lied to me, what if nobody is coming to get me? So I was lost in a foreign country with no hope of someone helping me. I didn't even have money on me ...where do I go! how do I start? I know it's all my fault I wanted to start up in a new place, I wanted it so badly without even having much information or knowing someone here that I can trust! look at me! Trusting a total stranger that calls herself a travel agent how foolish can I be!
I stood there crying like an idiot, not knowing what to do next. Then a Young man walked up to me wearing a hoodie, I could not see his face then he called my name
Nora Babu right?
How did he know my full name? He looked scary! well, that was because I could not see his face, and in most American movies I watched; dangerous people always put on black hoodies that covered their faces, and hands in their pockets. That was exactly how he looked. He moved Closer to me saying "you are Nora Babu right?"
NORA: (stammering) ye..eh yes Nora, I'm Nora.....Babu. who are you?
Just call me Jay I'm your handler
NORA: handler? How I don't understand?
JAY: I'm here to pick you ...sorry I kept you waiting I lost track of time
Really? Does he lose track of time? what stupid Time! I have been here all day waiting! With my hopes lost and he is here with the excuse "I lost track of time"
I could not tell him all that, I just said it in my head.
most importantly, things were still going according to plan.
So I got into his car he never spoke to me throughout the ride, in the car I remembered I had a phone with me and I did not look for a way to contact my agent or cousin, when I was stranded at the airport, how foolish! Anyway, I'm fine now, I will try to call them when I get to my destination.
The road leading to the house was quite lonely, tho there were houses around but it still felt isolated.
The ride was long, it took hours, so it was already midnight when we arrived. The house looked simple and fine, with not many interiors and a chair opposite the warmer it was swinging as if someone just stood up, All I wanted to do was shower and call Jenny before anything else so I decided to break the silence and spoke to Jay
Nora: please can you help me with your phone I want to talk to my sister
Jay: your room is this way
(pointing towards a passage)
Nora: I have to make the call now, I want her to know that I'm okay and I'm sure she will be worried, please!
He handed me his phone ...immediately it rang, she answered!
JENNY: hello?
NORA: Jenny it's me, Nora!
JENNY: ha! Finally! I was so worried how are you, have you arrived? Hope you didn't have any issues at the airport! And.....and have you gotten shelter? Did your agent keep to her words?
NORA: Jenny, Jenny, Jenny! Calm down..... I am very ok, I had no issues at the airport and I'm safe with the person my agent promised would assist me to settle.... so don't panic
JENNY: fine! I'm happy that you are okay...I can't explain but I am just having this weird feeling who are you staying with? what's her name?
NORA: it's a "HE" and his name is j.....(the phone went off) hello, hello Jenny can you hear me? Jenny
What is wrong with this phone it just went off and I couldn't call back!
NORA: Jay? Jay!
JAY: what! (Coming from a room)
NORA: the phone went off
JAY: it's bad ...you can't use it again till tomorrow, so let me show you your room so you can rest..... do you want to eat anything?
NORA: no thanks, I'm not hungry!
JAY: ok, come this way
I was very hungry but I don't just feel like eating anything from him, tomorrow morning I would probably make something for myself. Tonight I just want to shower and sleep
The room was ok, nice and with a comfortable bed and a wardrobe by the side with a mirror stand too.
JAY: the toilet and bathroom is this way, make yourself comfortable, and see you tomorrow
NORA: thank you very much I appreciate it.
He left and I locked the door as I quickly took off my clothes to feel the water on my skin because I felt so itchy.
The bath was warm ...I felt so refreshed and I put on something comfortable and not skimpy didn't want to take chances. Then I lay on the bed thinking of nothing as I continue to steer at the window opposite me till I dozed off.
I woke up with a banging sound on the door with cold sweat all over my body, At first, I was confused and try to concentrate to know where I was then the banging continued so I had to rush to the door and see it was.
JAY: good morning, hope you slept well please get ready we are going somewhere.
And he left! After waking me up so aggressively and he did not even let me talk like asking where we were going to he just left after commanding his slave!
I still feel tired like I did not sleep well, I had this headache on my forehead making me dizzy as I sat on the bed holding my head in my hands. Then I remembered my dream the same dream from the plane! Oh God please Help, what is wrong with me?
I had to force myself to prepare and come out because I don't want to upset Jay, he is helping me the least I could do is to respect him. God knows where we're going.
I walked into the sitting room and Jay was all dressed in a T-shirt and jeans same as me but mine was black jeans and his blue. Then I saw someone through the window in a black shirt with a monkey face on the back, I did not see his face because he was entering a car
NORA: who is that guy?
JAY: no one, take this it will hold you before we get to the restaurant to eat
He handed me a cup of coffee I wanted to reject it tho but my stomach beat me to it by making some funny sounds so I took it. I'm happy we are going out to eat because I was so so hungry and just couldn't wait. maybe the dream was because I was hungry.
Jay is nice taking me out to eat, tho he still acts weird too.
I drank the coffee quickly not minding the hotness, I could not wait.
I noticed the other guy had already gone with the car I was picked up with at the airport. As we entered the car, another excitement was that I was going to see the city and maybe beg Jay to give me a little tour around.
I was still feeling the aches on my forehead and was trying hard to ignore it but it was getting worse Jay had already left the house we were on the high way all I could see was just cars, cars and my head was hurting really bad it felt as if everything was spinning and blurry at once and then it went black.
