Go A Yeong served him the hot pancakes. "I totally understand, so stop worrying and dig in, Mr. Police. I'll send them to the childcare center.".
"Be good. I will pick you up in two hours, okay?" Go A Yeong said while kissing both of her sons. Go Ji Hun and Go Ji Won nodded their heads. Aside from their hairstyles, they were identical in every way. Only Go A Yeong can tell the difference, and Cho Dae Hyun was gradually figuring it out.
As she looked at their handsome faces, Go A Yeong was reminded of that face. The face she took a glance at, five and a half years ago. The face she constantly saw in the newspaper and social media. Her children sure took after that man.
The eldest, Go Ji Hun, was good at computers and well-mannered. Go A Yeong was occasionally astounded by how well he cared for himself, his brother, and sometimes her. Go Ji Won, on the other hand, was his polar opposite. He was interested in automobiles and is a troublemaker. His car obsession worried Go A Yeong at times because he would chase after the cars he liked without looking around. Each time, he would get stopped by his brother and get a head tap.
She waved them goodbye and drove away. Go Ji Won followed after the caretaker without hesitation, but Go Ji Hun stared in the direction his mom just went. He wanted to grow up faster so his mother could rest without having to worry about them.
When Go A Yeong finished her gig, it was already nine o'clock. After thanking her friend for the offer, she rushed back to her children. Go A Yeong parked her car in the parking lot and rang the care center's doorbell.
The caretaker came out, giving her a confused look. "The kids already went home.". Go A Yeong returned the same expression. "They went home? What are yo- wait. With who?". "He claimed to be their uncle.". Go A Yeong took out her phone and dialed Cho Dae Hyun right away. "A Yeong ah. I'm bus-.".
She cut in without giving him a chance to finish. "Do you have the kids?". "Kids? Ji Hun and Ji Won? They are at the care center, no?". Go A Yeong felt everything around her spinning. Cho Dae Hyun, sensing something from her silence, inquired, "A Yeong ah? What happened? Are the kids alright?".
Cho Dae Hyun was heard yelling at the caretaker for her poor service. But all Go A Yeong could think about was saving her children. Are they alright? What if- NO! She cupped her head in frustration. She shouldn't think of anything negative that would ruin the remaining hope.
She had already lost everyone who loved her. She can't lose her children too. Cho Dae Hyun dropped her off at home and went back to the station after comforting her. When he returned the next morning, Go A Yeong was still where he had left her.
When he shook his head in response to her eyes, which were full of anticipation, Go A Yeong sat back down dejectedly. "What am I going to do now?". Cho Dae Hyun sat down beside her and placed a comforting hand on top of hers. "I'm not trying to scare you, but this group is quite powerful. They hide very well, and the raid yesterday night was also a complete failure. We're trying our best, A Yeong ah.".
He sighed when she remained silent. "I'll find them. They'll need you when they return, so take care of yourself," he said as he walked away.
